Good location to start hiking

In the middle of September, the nights were very cold, and the apartment had no heating. The indoor temperature could be almost the same as outside.

Formidable!

What delightful hosts. Everything was done with a smile. The huts are comfortable with plenty of hot water and the place has magnificent Mountain views. It was easy to find and had good communication. We had delicious filling breakfasts and evening meals - just what was needed for walking in the mountains. The place isn’t far from the Peaks of the Balkans trail. We spent 3 nights here and didn’t use our car. We had perfect weather too which always helps!

Heartwarming place in Vusanje

They were so helpful! My friend wasn't feeling well, so they helped us with everything - blankets, tea and honey, and finally found a taxi for us because we couldn't hike the next day. Really amazing people!

Avoid

Location is excellent. But...

The owner is a belligerent nuisance. Among many other things, he accused me of booking Dutch groups into his establishment (I didn't) and appeared very angry that a group we had booked in with him the previous year had eaten at a rival establishment over the road (they appear to be his main rivals). All of this invective was delivered in broken French (my fourth language). When I replied in Serbian and told him he had made us feel so uncomfortable we would not stay our planned second night, he threatened to call the police if we didn't pay in full - which we did, as all we wanted at that stage was to leave. He followed up this charmless shouting with a later on-line accusation of stealing towels and keys (we didn't), and "breaking the chalet" - we didn't (!), also claiming I had done this before (it's the first time - and the last - that I have stayed at Eko Katun Prokletije). Overall, I would recommend visitors to stay with his competitors over the road, who are warm, welcoming and everything that this man is not.

A lovely place to stay in Vusanje

As far as guesthouses on the Peaks of the Balkans trail this rates as one of the best. The cabins were spacious and clean. The food was good and plentiful and the owner incredibly friendly and accommodating.

The only downside of the location is that it's 1.5km off the trail. There is an interesting route back though which avoids the road, which has an exciting bridge over a gorge.

Nice cottages in a wonderful location

Excellent location at the entrance to the Ropojana Valley, stunning views right after stepping out of the cottage. A settlement of cottages run by helpful and friendly hosts. You can order breakfast, lunch, or dinner on-site.

The cottage was missing a table and chairs, but the issue was quickly handled by the hosts.

Super friendly hosts, comfortable accommodation, substantial meals, convenient location.

The family running the place are so friendly. They speak English, French and Polish (the host's wife is Polish). Our cabin was clean and had a tiled floor, comfortable beds and mattresses, warm duvets, nightstands, a wardrobe, a spacious bathroom with a shower (hot water available all the time) and plenty of coat hooks. The meals, served at the restaurant and cooked by the hostess, were delicious, simple, substantial and reasonably priced. I had stayed in the katun last August for almost a week and was pleased to be able to return this June for another three days. The area is great for hiking the trails and peaks around the Grebaje and Ropojana valleys, including Buni i Jezercës.

I liked everything actually. My hiking mate would rather have had an electric kettle in the chalet.

The place is run by an absolutely wonderful and friendly family. The cabin was clean and equipped with everything needed for such an accommodation. Ample and delicious food is also available. Fantastic views to the surrounding mountains.

Nice outdoor space, and in front od house sitting area. house was nice too. Lady owner was very nice and helpful but the sons are not at all.

It is pet friendly but they were suprised with the doga and wanted to check where are they going to sleep and asked all these questions, which was not pleasant.

What an amazing place to stay in the very heart of a picturesque village Vusanje ! The host and his family were incredibly friendly and helpful. They served us very delicious home made breakfast and dinner. They gladly took us from the bus station in Gusinje in a late night hour and provided the transport to make our trips easier. Never in my life have I met such hospitality ! Our room was very clean and cozy, too. We would love to go back !

The bungalows of eco Katun are very comfortable and clean. You also have a nice covered terrace to sit outside after a day of hiking. The bungalows are a little further from the official peaks of the Balkan trail but is very much worth the detour! We had a very warm welcome by Noucha who also cooked us a very nice dinner! We would highly recommend a stay here 🌱🌿

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming bungalow hosted by EKO Katun Vusanje Prokletije. Upon our late evening arrival, the host greeted us with a warm smile and patiently waited for us to check in. Their friendly and understanding nature instantly made us feel welcomed and at ease. The location of the bungalow proved to be ideal for our hiking plans. The separate toilet with a shower provided privacy and convenience, while the small fridge allowed us to store refreshments for our excursions, and a picnic table in front of the bungalow. The facility boasted a reliable and efficient WiFi network, ensuring we remained connected during our stay. In addition, the shared space with tables provided a communal area where guests could enjoy their meals or engage in conversations. The spacious green yard, with its lush surroundings, offered a serene setting for unwinding and enjoying the outdoors.

A wonderfully welcoming place

Stunning setting in the heart of the mountains and near plenty of hiking trails. The host, Isaac, was incredibly welcoming and helpful. He made a great breakfast and had lots of conversation and advice to offer. I stayed on the last night of the season before winter, so Isaac made sure I had a big blanket to keep me warm at night (especially with just me in a 4 bed chalet)... Looking forward to returning to the new heated chalets next time!
