The lay out, bed, furnishings, paintings and family photo wall were lovely It is very 'bachy' but more modern than the original Kiwi batches, with a great shower and separate toilet. Kitchen has all you need and great dining table. There is no dishwasher but washing dishes is fine. Loved the piano, pool table and kayaks you zip across the road to paddle in the estuary and reach private beach. Loved the private outlook towards the estuary and all the plants and garden.
Awesome that they take their recycling responsibilities seriously.
There is no TV, but that's OK if you have your own laptop and I think this also encourages reading and chilling in other ways. The kitchen drawers/cupboards could probably have a bit of a good clean, but the linen and bathroom were spotless, and the floors looked vacuumed and clean.
They have an issue of 'boy racers' and fast traffic on the road in front later at night and sometimes noisy, which was surprising being so rural, but Ngangaru is a throughfare for popular beaches.

Wonderful access to local shops and lovely view across the water. Also great kitchen / dining space to relax in and make food
The beds were not that comfortable and the internet was patchy which made created issues for my online job.

Lovely location in Ngunguru
I think it could be more prominent in advising there is no tv or internet. We were trying to negotiate through a property purchase so lack of internet posed a bit of a problem.

Great view, comfy seating and beds were decent. Excellent communication and responsiveness of hosts
Reminder to pack your own body wash.
I hadn’t clicked it was the bottom floor and bathroom shared an entranceway with the other floor. But didn’t run into anyone else.

The location is good, right across the road from the ocean. The road is busy at times, but little road noise can be heard from inside the bach.
The beds were comfortable, the bedside lights were appreciated and I went to sleep immediately after turning out the light.
Lots of options for seating, nice lounge chair with footstool, and a long built in couch.
The retro-style of the kitchen is cool, with the formica topped table to match, just watch your knees when you pull the chair in at the table.
I enjoyed the historical feel of the bach, with photos of past generations making me feel at home and surrounded by the memories embeded in the bach. History books and pamphlets of the area were available, and lots of novels and children's books to read, catering for all tastes. A folder of pamphlets and information sheets is provided on the sideboard with a visitor's book alongside it.
The shower was good considering guests have to watch the amount of water used as it is from a spring.
Extra facilities included a piano with a lot of sheet music in the stool, a pool table, a radio, and a garden to pick salad vegetables from. At times there must be home-made preserves and chocolate to purchase as a sign on the wall advertised these, but I didn't see any.
Car-parking was on the lawn at the front of the bach. There were some luxurious plants and flowers to admire in the garden.
Takeaway food shops are a short walk down the road.
The sliding door from the lounge to the patio out front didn't open.
The laundry light didn't work.
The hot tap in the kitchen dripped.

It’s an excellent location, the Ngunguru estuary is directly opposite, just across the road. Great views, especially on a full tide. I saw little of the owners: just on arrival and departure: respecting my privacy no doubt, but very friendly and welcoming. I was treated to some home-made carrot cake, which was very kind. The accommodation is great: the bed is very comfortable, heating to the room was provided and the kitchen area has all the equipment you need. Nice to see family photos of days gone by, of past summer holidays: the basic holiday bach and fishing were integral parts of kiwi culture.
Nothing.

We were super tired from the driving and just sunk into the comfiest, warm beds. The bach had just what was needed. Kate n James are awesome as hosts. Thank you so much for our much needed rest.
Lovely location, community.

Location
I didn't like that it wasn't an actual private apartment. Was just the downstairs of a home that somebody lives in.

Great location and really spacious. Lovely hosts.
Nothing really, but if was going to be really picky - would’ve been nice to have some milk in the fridge for coffee and tea, along with shampoo and conditioner in shower.

Lovely helpful homestay host, great location across from the beach. The local Salt Air Cafe is perfect for breakfast and lunch. The surrounding area and little bays are stunning.
Clean, stylish comfy rooms with own kitchen and bathroom.
We managed to have a swim and a kayak just across the road. Wished we had the time to have stayed longer.
Nothing.
