Blackberry house is a 2 bedroom 800 sq. ft suite created by designer Douglas Nickel. It features a modern custom kitchen, spacious dining living area that is fully furnished with custom furniture. There are two bedrooms, one of which can also be a study. Five windows face west giving lots of natural light. This was the perfect location for getting our daughter settled at UBC. We were 15 minutes from campus, and 20-30 minutes from the airport, shopping, downtown...anywhere we needed to be. The unit is perfect for a small family, plenty of living, eating and sleeping space. It's in a lovely neighborhood for walks with easy street parking. Best of all are the kind and hospitable hosts. We had a lovely stay and hope to be back.

The apartment is in a convenient location, which was appreciated. However, the unit itself was not as clean as expected, and overall it felt outdated and in need of a refresh. The furniture and décor seem tired, and a more thorough cleaning would go a long way in improving the guest experience.There was no informational binder provided for the basement apartment, which would have been helpful. Additionally, the current listing does not reflect the major ongoing construction work in both the front and back gardens. This was a notable disruption and should be clearly disclosed to potential guests.The back garden in particular could benefit from a cleanup, and the outdoor furniture is worn and uninviting.Another point of concern was the checkout process. We were asked to vacate the unit by 10am to allow time for cleaning before the next guests, even though the listing clearly states an 11am checkout. I communicated that our airport transportation had already been arranged for just before 11am, but the host was non-apologetic and unwilling to accommodate the posted time. I did offer to have the cleaner begin working around us if needed. In the end, we were fortunate that our friend was able to arrive earlier, and we left before 10am, but the lack of flexibility and courtesy around this issue was disappointing.That said, we did appreciate that the nightly rate was lower than most in the area—b

My husband and I stayed for 10 nights while our son played in a hockey tournament at UBC. I can’t say enough positive things about the property. Douglas and Delores are ideal hosts and there were a lot of special touches and conveniences. We both worked during our time there and it was roomy, comfortable and had strong internet. It was also a great location, walkable to many shops, restaurants, and public transportation. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.

This cute little suite was perfect for what we needed! The beds were comfy, the den area was great for relaxing after a day of activities, and the location made it easy to get around using only public transit. We enjoyed our stay in this basement apartment in Kitsilano. It is a perfect location in a lovely neighborhood in walking distance of excellent restaurants. It is easy driving distance to many attractions that we wanted to see as first-time visitors to Vancouver. The apartment is spacious and the master bed mattress is probably the most comfortable I have ever encountered in a VRBO or hotel. If you are coming on business, there is a nice desk area in the living room where you could easily set up your computer and other materials. The weather was cool and we were able to keep the windows open and use the fans provided to keep the apartment at a comfortable temperature. All the appliances are in excellent condition and there is plenty of hot water for showers. The hosts were friendly and responsive and not at all intrusive. I highly recommend this VRBO for a vacation or business stay in the Vancouver area.

This flat was perfect! Clean, neat, comfortable with all the facilities one could hope for and close to Broadway with plenty of restaurants and cafes. This is a really lovely space. Downstairs but doesn’t feel like a basement because there are loads of windows and light. My sister and I had a wonderful stay in the designer suite. The suite was very well equipped and very comfortable. Although situated in a quiet residential area of Vancouver it was only a short walk to public transport, good restaurants and shops. There are beaches and restaurants close enough if you want to walk. Location felt very safe and was quiet. The owners were very helpful and were available when we needed them. We stayed in this apartment for two weeks including the Christmas week and it was an excellent choice! We were in Vancouver to meet our newest grandchild and to help out his parents. The kitchen was so well equipped that we were able to provide many evening meals for the whole family as well as a big Christmas spread. There was enough seating for all of us and it was comfortable. Although we chose it because it was very close to our daughter's home, the location is also excellent for visiting Vancouver. It is close to a fast bus line and many interesting shops and good restaurants, and is an easy, 15 minute walk to Jericho beach.

We stayed in the Blackberry house this past summer while settling into Vancouver from abroad, and having a temporary home that was so comfortable made our transition an enjoyable one. The house is walking distance to shops and restaurants, as well as a quiet park, and it’s an easy walk to major bus routes. This summer was a beautiful one, and although we did spend a lot of time walking nearby and enjoying the weather, the days that we had to spend inside were spent pleasantly as the windows let in plenty of light, and everything we could have needed was at our fingertips. We had four adults in the rental, but no matter who was doing what, there was always an easy seat with a hard surface to write on or an outlet for a charger –usually both- to be found. Having a functional kitchen meant that even though there are many delicious places to eat nearby, we could cook and eat together around a table, something that regularly brought a homey end to an otherwise full or hectic day. The house is full of little touches that add to the homey feeling, like the books on the shelves (a variety, from guidebooks to popular fiction), and never running out of towels. The owners are very friendly and eager to help in any way, not that there was much help needed. I would definitely recommend this rental.
