Beautiful views as described. Sunset would be better from the south side of the island and sunrise from the east. When you think of a penthouse it is pristine. Beds were very comfortable and kitchen was very nice. On the downside, carpet is stained, masterbath shower doesn't drain properly. A couple other issues were promptly addressed.

The property location is absolutely perfect, the view at the ocean every day is spectacular. Exactly what we were looking for. However, it rained while we were at the property and the beams on the ceiling leaked water onto the floor… constantly… when it rains you cannot have the windows or doors open, because the wind will blow the water into the condo. And there’s no air conditioning which makes it extremely humid. Our clothes are damp. Even our passports are damp. The only time the fans help is when you’re in bed trying to sleep. I’m not going to list all the other items these two were major items. I’m not sure when the “Upgrades” happened but this is NOT A LUX property listing. We believe all the humidity and water is what’s causing a lot of the deterioration in this property. The bed was very comfortable. The property manager fantastic.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Puu Poa in Princeville is a great location - this is our third stay in this complex and there is not a bad view. Each condo has pretty much the same layout. #403 Meh. Upgraded furniture, kitchen and decor, but no outdoor grill, no AC, living room fan doesn’t even cool ... which is next to an atrium with a glass ceiling that collects a lot of afternoon sun. For the higher nightly rate, these are basics guests should expect. My brother stayed in building 2 - decor not as “Pottery Barn” but they had AC, grill, atrium and same layout and paid a fraction of the cost per night. Master bedroom window does not close and with nightly rain showers we both woke up severely congested and everything felt damp. Disappointing, wanted to love this place.

In a place with no ac, no one wants to cook inside but the grill would not heat up - even after half an hour - not even enough to cook veggies, much less fish or meat. We called oceanfront and they were fabulous, but it’s an owner issue. Otherwise, great stay - clean, roomy, comfortable and ocean waves lull you to sleep. And the limitations on reaching hanalei are not as bad as it might seem in the beginning. It’s easy to get the hang of the rhythm of it.

Yes, the view is amazing. You can watch the whales right from the balcony. As others have said, it’s a bit of a trek down to the beach, and I wouldn’t recommend after a rain, but we did it in flip flops and a drink in hand... it’s not THAT bad! This particular property could use some attention though. It’s only been tended on the surface-and not all of them at that. The cupboard faces were filthy-we had to clean before we felt comfortable touching them. The deck edges were caked with grime (the deck below us was not), the barbecue leg was broken and the barbecue itself was, well, pretty gross inside, and there was nothing to clean it with The stove had a hard time coming up to temperature-so be prepared to eat late. And the amenities were certainly not what we are used to from other vrbos. Cooking supplies were non existent-not even cooking oil. The impressive spice rack is completely empty. The outside shed had a couple (only) old chairs, broken snorkeling gear, and a couple unbroken boogie boards. There was lots of sand play toys though, if you have kids. There is no air conditioning, but the nights cool off so we were comfortable. The Wi-Fi didn’t work but my sister is a tech, so she figured it out. The property manager only responded Monday morning (we checked in Saturday), and it’s a good thing my sister had fixed it, because the property mgr emailed (um, said I didn’t have wifi so could they please call), suggesting I was using the wrong password. I am thinking Wi-Fi wouldn’t have been avail for a different set of guests. We still enjoyed our stay, these are just nit picky things-in case the reader is nit picky too. We have just found that other vrbos (for less money) had more to offer. But the view?? Now THAT can’t be beat :). And heck, you’re in Kauai! If you don’t enjoy that all by itself, well, I can’t help you there! Aloha!!

The sunset watching from the lanai is spectacular though.Be aware that the room rate is misleading. All the various fees and taxes really add up. Also be aware that a half day rate may be negotiated if your flight leaves at night.We would happily rent this condo again.

Puu Poa 403 is a lovely, comfortable property with a gorgeous view. The beds are wonderful and perfect after a day enjoying the beautiful island of Kauai. Everything you need is provided in the kitchen. The bed linens and bath towels were of a high standard. There were plenty of board games and books available, a very good selection of TV stations, and good internet service provided. However, there were a few things that were neglected but can be fixed very easily. Several of the kitchen knives in the knife block had obviously not been washed, there was dried, crusty food on them. There were also fingerprints on the kitchen cabinets. Housekeeping needs to pay a little more attention to cleaning the kitchen. Several of the screens on the windows had holes in them or had torn. We hated to open those windows because of letting bugs, lizards, etc in. (we already had one resident lizard). The awning on the second bedroom window was missing, not a huge deal but not much shade for that bedroom and just looked neglected. There was one dining room chair missing , again not a huge deal for us but also looked neglected. The umbrella stand on the lanai was broken and we were constantly afraid the wind was going to catch the open umbrella and turn the table over. We reported this upon arrival, since it was late Saturday we were told someone would be by to look at it the next day. The problem was not fixed only a “make do”. We never heard from the property management company to see if it had been properly fixed or not. A good second fan would have been nice in the living room since it did get very warm in the afternoons. We were asked several weeks before our arrival if the owners could come by and retrieve something out of the owners closet at a specific time on Monday after we checked in on Saturday. It was not a huge deal and reluctantly we said that would be OK. However, it was a slight inconvenience to have to leave at the given time. Maybe they could have retrieved their item while no one was occupying the residence? This is truly a beautiful property and we enjoyed our week there very much and we would definitely return. When you spend $300.00 plus a night for accommodations you expect everything to be in good working order and very clean , which for the most part was. There needs to be some attention to detail to make this property truly special.

The condo was very spacious and had everything we needed for a great stay. Beds were very comfortable which has not been the case in other places we've stayed on the island. Walking distance to Hideaway beach, Queens Bath and the Princeville hotel. Only issue we had was that the condo has a small water heater and we were there with a family of four. We couldn't all take a warm shower after a day at the beach. Not a big deal, but just have to space out the hot water a bit. All in all, I highly recommend. I would suggest bringing a blue tooth speaker if you like to listen to music. That would be the only suggestion I would make to the management. A blue tooth speaker or something to stream music on. Thanks for a great stay!

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely views from the terrace. Nice ocean front pool. Great location. Good internet and TV service. The terrace had a gas grill, but it was caked with burnt on grease from previous uses. Required two hours to clean, making it safe before use. Also very limited supplies such as paper products and dishwasher/dish washing soap compared with other places we have stayed. Also it would be helpful to have additional lamps for reading.

Overall # 403 was great however it could use some special attention beyond weekly cleanings between rentals. Two fans in the bedroom did not work and the master Bedroom ceiling fan had only one speed (very slow). Patio Grill was very dirty, I spent an hour cleaning the holes in the grill from past grilling. The Patio screen doors seem worn out and the Master Shower has an area where water stands from past showers (stained). The internet is very slow, only good for email and simple internet use. TV channels for the rainy days was great, many choices. Many games to play with family on rainy days. Kitchen had all you need for meals each day.

The location is excellent. Great view of the ocean. The property is clean and the beds, per other reviews, is like sleeping in the clouds. The bathrooms are large and clean. The deck is awesome for late night viewing of the stars and Milky Way. Just a top notch spot all the way. Now for a few small comments that hopefully the owners will read: Buy a few new ice cube trays! A bag of ice was provided, but a few dollars for new trays doesn't kill the profit margins. The fans are needed at night. AC would've been nice, but is not necessary unless you like it ice cold at night. They have small what I believe are air purifiers, that look like AC units, but aren't. They are not particularly useful nor easy to operate. Not sure why they are there. The outdoor closet is a mess and full of old musty rusty chairs and outdoor water sports equipment that has to be thrown out and replaced. Or at least partially cleaned out. Finally, the lock on the front door is problematic. It has to be jiggered every time you close it or open it. The door was actually ajar (closed but lock was not engaged) when we arrived. Coming home the first night with little light and not knowing how to jigger it open was a bit concerning. After getting the hang of it, no biggie, but make sure the locking mechanism is engaged before leaving. And have patience opening it up. It's actually a cool, big heavy door. But the lock is a PIA. Again, just some suggestions. No reason to not stay here. It is 4.5 stars easily. just that I cannot put the extra half star on the review.

This condo was perfect for my husband and I and our 9 month old baby. Close to everything, great pool, lots of space and it was great to be able to make breakfast and dinners in if we so desired, yet make a quick walk to the St Regis for happy hour every night! We can’t wait to come back.

My wife and I searched hi and low for a place to renew our vows and when we came across this luxurious property, we knew right away, it was meant for us, We got married on the beach in front of the St. Regis years ago and wanted to revisit that same tree where we made a lifelong commitment to one another. We wanted to feel like we were on our honeymoon all over again after our second ceremony and this property allowed us to feel like we were in our youth all over again. The views were absolutely stunning. The fresh sea breeze coming off the pacific ocean, the sun sets and the sound of huge crashing waves are enough to steal anyones heart. We spent the evenings grilling up fresh yellowfin tuna from out deep sea fishing trip. The place has an awesome deck with a nice gas grill. It couldn't have been any more perfect to have a place to kick back, have a few wonderful adult libations and grill up fresh catch with the most incredible views. For the romantic at heart, I would strongly recommend this stunning property. It is very comfortable and has everything to make you feel right at home.

We researched great places for a Girls' Getaway - and this condo was the best! Luxurious with spectacular views - the lanai and atrium were our hang out places when we weren't playing tennis, swimming, or golfing! The St. Regis is within walking distance for drinks and brunch. We loved having a great kitchen with blender and barbeque outside. The condo is beautiful and perfect for a girls' weekend, couples, and families! The beds are amazing and it is a very comfortable place with views, views, and more views!

This is our favorite Hawaii condo - amazing ocean views, great size, everything you need in a kitchen (including a top-rate blender), an excellent washer-dryer, and very comfortable beds! The sunset views were the best! We brought our teenage kids, so wanted to do some cooking/grilling - it was perfect on the lanai with the best views on Kauai. The beach, pool, and tennis were great. We were happy to get to walk to the St. Regis hotel for a drink. You won't be disappointed to stay at this amazing, luxury condo with ocean views!

I read about almost every accommodation on Kauai, as I was really trying to make it the most amazing vacation for me and my boyfriend. After extensive research, we had decided to stay here at Pu’u Poa - a luxury condominium resort located cliffside in the beautiful North Shore community of Princeville. For those of you who haven’t visited, Princeville is widely recognized not only as Kauai’s most beautiful location, but it is much more lush and less touristy. This place is incredible. Penthouse ocean views with the added bonus of having all up to date amenities of a condo was the perfect combination for us. Not to mention having a full kitchen ended up saving us a lot of money from eating out all the time and my boyfriend LOVED using the gas bbq grill. The place is decorated very nicely with new furniture and felt extremely homey. Our king bed felt like a cloud with top grade bedding. Our location was also very accommodating to all the things we did during the trip. I especially loved how we were walking distance from St. Regis where we to for drinks/appetizers on the patio at sunset. All in all, this place was perfect for us! Beautiful location, outstanding views, and a luxurious feel. Our time here was so special. We can’t wait to return!!

Ocean Views, upper unit, comfortable furnishings! Love the peacefulness and quietness of the area, along with the sound of the ocean at night. We so enjoyed our morning coffee (and evening happy hours) on the balcony overlooking the stunning ocean views. There was no need to go out for dinner, drinks, whatever. The unit was well maintained, clean and ready for us upon arrival. Only wish that we could have stayed longer! By the time we looked at extending our stay by a week, it had already been booked!

My husband and I just came back from our honeymoon and can't say enough amazing things about this condo. Check in was a breeze and the view when we stepped inside blew us away. Unobstructed panoramic views of the ocean combined with the Napali coast made us feel like we were looking at a postcard the whole time we were here. The prestigious Princeville location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. Whether it be a round or two of golf at the nearby course, a drink at the St. Regis right down the road, or a 10 minute drive to Hanalei where the beach was uncrowded and there were multiple activities to choose from, we were situated perfectly for anything we needed. Of course if we wanted to stay in our oasis, the lanai was set up for a barbeque and sunbathing, or if we'd had a bit too much sun we grabbed a nap on the super comfy beds while the afternoon rains came in. The nearby restaurants made sure we were out for most meals, but the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could have needed and having Foodland close by was perfect if we needed anything last minute. We couldn't have been happier with our trip and we will definitely be booking our next stay here!

We looked at several properties while trying to determine where to stay. When we saw this one we were hooked! It had everything we were looking for! AND, it was exactly like the pictures - well not really.. even better! We had a group of 4. The bedrooms worked well for us, each couple got their own room. We love it! The property is by the beach so as you can imagine we had fabulous sunset views, which we enjoyed in the balcony and poolside with yummy homemade margaritas made in the blender provided in the well equipped kitchen. The pool was wonderful to have available for relaxing while we were home in the evenings grilling wonderful dinners. The house itself was exquisite! It was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would highly recommend staying at this paradise place.

Talk about paradise! This gorgeous, private, oceanfront getaway at Puu Poa includes immaculate, spacious indoor living & beautiful outdoor Lanai with Barbeque that spills out over the breathtaking cliffs of the exclusive Princeville Resort, which is close and within walking distance. The beds are really comfortable and the new furniture and kitchen are exquisite . The views are spectacular and the ocean view pool, tennis court and nearby dining at the St. Regis Hotel are unreal. We have never seen a place so beautiful with picturesque views. The St. Regis brunch was amazing!! Make sure to try coconut French toast and French press coffee. Afterwards take a walk down to the beach, enjoy the breathtaking views. Be sure to take a bunch of pictures…you’ll be happy you did! We were more than impressed with this place and will absolutely be back!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at 6 different units in the Pu’u Poa condominiums, all providing different ranges of decor and care. The top floor provides incredible views, which was a primary driver in our selection of 403. However, the inside of this unit had several indications of less than ideal care of the property. Examples are: significant staining and wear of the primary bedroom carpet (needs replacing), evidence of someone kicking in the secondary bathroom door (hole in the door), splitting of the primary bedroom door, closet doors not shutting or opening easily, and no racks on the refrigerator doors to allow storage of drink bottles, etc. The furniture was adequate and there were plenty of beach chairs and boogie boards for fun days at Hanalei. We always enjoy our stay at Pu’u Poa, but the issues cited show that this unit is not well-cared for. For ~$6000/week, we have seen units in much better condition at Pu’u Poa and would seek those out before renting 403 again, assuming the issues cited above remain.
