This classic, dog-friendly Sea Ranch vacation rental with an amazing bluff-side location and an ocean view is just the seaside retreat you and your travel companions have been longing for. The Sea Ranch community boasts resort-style amenities and amazing landscapes of all kinds, from forests to seashores. Located 58 miles from Mendocino and nine miles from Gualala, this particular rental faces Black Point Beach, with an expanse of sea grasses between you and the bluff.

With intriguing classic architecture and a warm interior, this home balances the simple, uncomplicated style of a beach getaway with the high-end taste of Northern California. Fine-grained wood floors, high ceilings, and stone hearth add to the charm, and views from your spot on the bluff will take your breath away. Gather in the sitting area, which emphasizes conversations with its furniture facing each other. There is a TV with cable and a DVD/VCR, as well as a stereo system and a CD player for background music. A full kitchen makes preparing home meals easy and fun. You'll have all the major appliances you need, including a dishwasher. Dine inside in the eating nook with windows on three sides, or head out to the patio to dine.

This three-bedroom, two-bathroom rental can sleep six people in comfortable (eight maximum, if you want to bring along an extra sleeping bag or two). A couple will adore the master suite with a queen bed and a carpeted floor. Deck access and bay windows bring in the ocean views. Read in the comfy armchair, or enjoy some quiet TV time alone. The two other bedrooms have queen beds as well, and there is a private washer/dryer in the home.

From the bluff view points you may catch a glimpse of a grey whale, or a few California sea lions sunbathing on the beaches!

The views are what had us rent this house. The house has been seriously neglected for a very long time and it shows. The house needs a complete refresh; I would be ashamed to rent this house to anyone. Here is why:The left front burner on stove doesn't work (Sign says right front burner)Master bath heater is broken.Shade chain broken.There is no home manual, very limited info on how things work.Outside kitchen in carport light is burned out.Light over dining room is flickering and goes out on its own.Handle on chest of drawers in master is broken.Many window screens are torn, hence house is full of flies.Door knobs were cheap to begin with and are now failing. Outside doors don't always stay closed.The floors are badly damaged, need refinishing.Dishwasher is damaged, it leans forward all the way to the floor when you open it.I recommend: Replace the stove and dishwasher. Replace doors to outside.Replace all door knobs. Refinish floors. Refinish kitchen cabinets. New heaters in both bathrooms. Replace old bed, foam pad on top doesn't cut it.All homes require regular maintenance. The owners seem to be milking this house without spending on maintenance. It will cost them much more in the future if they keep putting it off.

The home was comfortable and views spectacular. This is older home, I would describe as cabin retro. Comfy beds and leather swivel chairs let you sip coffee and have glass of wine with the best views. The location is the star - close to trails, walking distance to lodge lots of great wildlife. Views from every room.

Beautiful location and views. Adequate kitchen and beds were comfortable. Home is older and a bit shabby. But they allow dogs so that may impact how much they invest. House could have been much cleaner. Stove had problem with large burner. We did not use it and it was reported and addressed by staff. Lighting needs improvement -- home very dark unless every single light was on. We moved some lamps to provide light in first bedroom which had only one desk lamp working. Bathroom in hall is small but fine. Master bath is very small and dark with low toilet. Could be charming, but it's not. AGAIN -- location and views were perfect.

This house is an amazing and exceptional place. As an architect specializing in historic preservation, this home and its unique legacy left a big impression on me. Best I can tell, it's still owned by the same family, and is about as original as it gets. Except for a few updates (kitchen counters and appliances, bathroom tubs and fixtures, roller blinds) everything about this property is original and authentic. It really feels like stepping back in time, to a well loved family retreat that has brought joy to generations of a family. The house was comfortable, quiet, and we'll appointed. We had a fire going in the living room, and used the mini split heaters, and were comfortable the entire time we were there. Even staying up all night with our newborn.Could have asked for a better stay, and really hope that our paths cross again with this property and this family. This is a special place that we are lucky to have experienced.

Fantastic ocean view from picture windows of Black Point Beach. Great walking trails atop coastal cliffs went right by the back porch. Close to the Lodge, where we charged our EV.
