Rumah Jawa Guest House (Syariah)

The hotel was so beautifully decorated. Rooms incredibly cleaned, spacious with access to a beautiful atrium full of plants and a pond with koi fish! The personnel was very kind, always with a smile, available to satisfy every need you had. You could see that their priority was to make you feel comfortable! On the check out day we had to leave earlier than breakfast was usually served, but they arranged to bring us our breakfast in our rooms earlier, without even having them mentioned anything before! And a last detail: they are very tolerant and discreet, we had 2 rooms, with 2 of the same sex in each room.

Everything was amazing! If there’s one thing I can say, is that it’s not located downtown, so you need to take a taxi. But the prices for a taxi are extremely cheap for a European, you don’t spend more than 2€ for a ride…

Super nice staff, they helped with everything. Fantastic fresh, homemade indonesian snacks available for free all day. Amazingly tasty breakfast, we had the best soto ayam ever!

It’s been a very long time since I’ve awarded a property a perfect score. Rumah Jawa is special not just for its location and aesthetics, but for its people. Whether they could speak English fluently or not, they were ready to help - and always with a smile. Between hand gestures, broken words and Google Translate - everything worked out just fine. The manager was excellent - every single recommendation we requested for, was spot on. She just got it. It was really hard for us to find detailed information about the places we wanted to visit. She gave us answers to every single one of our questions. I’m extremely detail orientated, so to find someone who could answer all my questions quickly and accurately was a blessing. The food was exceptional. The breakfast buffets were elaborate and delicious. The day we visited borobodur, I requested packed breakfasts - expecting a sandwich and boiled eggs - they packed us almost the whole buffet menu! The round the clock ginger tea / coffee and snack station was a lovely touch. We could have a little snack and tea before or after any excursion. An amazing pick-me-up between exhausting trips. I rarely book trips through a hotel and prefer to book directly because of significant mark ups. However, Rumah Jawa offered us a car and driver at the same price as we would have paid outside. The driver was obviously more reliable. He also knew the area very well and helped us in so many more ways, than a ride hailing app driver would.

The bathrooms are a little on the smaller side - not unmanageable, but small. The rooms are situated on 2 floors - there is no elevator, so if you think you will be exhausted after the steep climbs at borobodur or prambanan temples, ask for a lower floor. This is another reason that the ground floor sitting area and the ginger tea comes in handy - take a break and gather your energy for the next climb 😁

This is my second time staying at this amazing guest house. Peaceful and beautiful, it’s such a pleasure to stay here, in my opinion there is no other hotel in Jogja! 😊
