The Waves Hostel by Amazing Madeira

I liked the sound of the ocean and the whole athmosphere there. I liked the way how the hostel was created and that everyone had their single room.

Maybe the humidifier could be a silent one or having turned off at night. The whole point to be next to the ocean to hear the ocean. Otherwise the temperature was pleasant.

We loved our stay at Waves as the location is fantastic being right on the ocean. Only 6 rooms so didn't feel like a hostel. Celio was very welcoming & friendly. Everything you need is there . You can easily walk into Sao Vincente & to nearby restaurants & a nearby great bar with authentic delicious ponchas ! We would definitely stay again !

Nothing really Hand towels in the bathroom & emptying bins more regularly would be a suggestion.

Lovely stay at Waves in a great location ! We had a car & also met a girl that used buses to get around as well. We drove to hiking areas every morning after a great night's sleep on comfy beds in our own single rooms. We did wear ear plugs as open areas in the ceiling between rooms. No problem for us at all. Everything is there that you need for a great stay , even your own lockable lockers for small personal items, passport etc Celio was available for any questions and friendly welcome on arrival. Also parking was easy.

Everything was great . Bins got overflowed on occasion , minor issue . Hand towels would be a suggestion .

The location is great, next to the sea with great view, 2 minutes drive to Sao Vicente, 50 mins from the airport. The staff is very helpful, you pretty much have everything you need. Kitchen, sofa, board games etc. The wifi is great. The price is definitely competitive on the island.

Maybe I wasn't careful enough when making reservations, but the rooms are not exactly rooms as the walls are not attached to the ceiling and there are no doors, just curtains: It means that the rooms are not sound proof at all. Anyone from another room makes even a tiny bit of noise, you hear it. Additionally, it is also not light proof, as when I switch on the light in the living room, I got complains from the woman next door, as the light is too bright so she couldn't sleep. Anyway, as the price for single "room" is so low on booking, I should have expected this, that it is the price for a bed in a larger room rather than a a price of a single independent room, but I somehow overlooked it. This place also smells a bit due to high humidity. The old fan in my room was not working, the owner was really responsive by bringing me a new one, except that the new fan was fully covered with dirt and mud, I did not even want to touch it... I still think this is a great hostel, but I would advice to inform better.
