Apart Monumental

The view from the studio was incredible, just being surrounded by banana trees and view on the ocean, having some outdoor space to sit outside was just bliss. The shower pressure was also incredible, perfect after long days hiking! Lovely quiet area with a 20min walk down to the beach which doubles up as the best sunset spot on a sunny day!

The fridge was a bit loud at night, note to self: bring earplugs next time!

Because is solar panel water heater, the water takes a bit too long to go out. It’s ok I can wait, but a lot of water is wasted. Perhaps the property management can do something about it. Other than that pretty good place and close to Fuchal 5 min driving

Easy check-in: pictures were sent on the day with instructions on how to enter. Parking was pretty easy to find in the street (although narrow). Only 1 night we had to park on the steep street. Welcome bananas. Balcony with nice view. Internet was working in room and kitchen (but not on our terrace). Big wall closet to put clothes and stuff away. Location was walkable distance to a bar and some restaurants, but walking to beach or towards Funchals requires to walk roads that had no sidewalk.

We had 6 out of 8 days construction in the apartment beneath our room starting 9am. Noise level sometimes as loud as we could not talk to eachother in the room. The communal kitchen's hygiene was questionable. The table cloths (fabric) had a lot of food stains and the trash was not emptied. It was unclear if someone was managing this as no info provided. Mosquitos (also during the day). The room didn't have mosquito screens. One should definitely be installed for the bathroom. It was almost impossible to get this bathroom to dry as only small window (difficult to open when you are not tall). In addition, no cleaning for the whole 8 day stay, it was getting more and more uncomfortable. We would not recommend this room for a long stay due to the bathroom. We stayed in room J. The room could not fully close. One door only closed from the inside (mosquitos are able to enter), but you lock a second door on the outside (shutter door).
