About this house rental
1 Queen bedroom with own bathroom.
2 other bedrooms; 1 with bunks and a single bed, the other with bunks. Shared shower room with new shower, washing machine and dryer. Separate toilet.
Open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area; 2 settees, log burner.
Heat pumps in the Queen bedroom and open plan area.
Sliding door leads to a new covered deck with steps leading to a good sized back garden area. BBQ.
Wifi.
The beach is close - less than 10 minutes walk or 2 minutes by car.
It is a "safe" sandy beach in that it has a very gentle slope. Plenty of walks.
Port Chalmers with eating places and shops is a 15 minute drive away, whilst the city of Dunedin is a 30 minute drive.
The Orokonui Wildlife Sanctuary is a 10 minute drive away.

Kitchen fully equipt, plenty of towels, torches for exploring the caves were handy, really warm and super tidy, vacumes provided to keep up with cleanliness during stay was a great bonus

Lovely space, great to have the option of heat pumps and wood burner. Beds very comfy and well-configured, plus good appliances in the kitchen and laundry. A few odd things missing, like the glass for the cafetiere, the machine for the hand whisk, or any drinking glasses at all (just wine glasses or plastic tumblers), but we had a lovely time here, even with a power cut on the first night!

So this review is a bit difficult because the property is exactly as described a nice place very quiet and good for a few days away.
But in our case there was a problem. The property is on tank water and the tanks were totally empty. Which meant even the toilets didn't flush and it got pretty gross carrying buckets of water from the neighbours to flush toilets.
It's tough to communicate at this property because cell coverage is very poor so it was hard to fix the problem.
Tanker water turned up 24 hours later some 3 hours latter than scheduled so most of the day was spent waiting. The owner was out of town and he didn't know much about the water system anyway so we had to restart pumps and check pipework ourselves.
In the end everything was fine but he first day was a bit grubby and epic.
Without this issue I would have given a 4.5 out of 5.
