About this house rental

"Puanani," Hawaiian for beautiful flower, is a Hawaiian-style family home located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac within easy walking distance of Hanalei Bay and town. A large yard with plumeria, hibiscus, night-blooming jasmine and a lush garden with melodic songbirds can be enjoyed from the front and back covered lanais. Decorated with wicker and bamboo furniture and designed with open beam ceilings and natural cedar walls, the house has a spacious, comfortable feeling.

The crescent beach of Hanalei Bay is a short walk away for sunbathing, beach combing, seasonal swimming and spectacular sunsets. Take a stroll down the beach to the historic Hanalei pier to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls.

Another short walk brings you to the quaint town of Hanalei, where numerous shops and restaurants are located along with a market and post office. While exploring this historic town, sample local favorites, shaved ice and smoothies.

Other north shore activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing, hiking, horseback riding, tennis and golf.

Fantastic stay! This home is so charming and has everything you could need. Extremely clean and the beds were comfortable. Note that the house does not have AC. We stayed in September and found we didn't need it, the fans worked well for us. We will stay again if in the area!

Super easy walk to the beach, even carrying all our gear. Walking to town for meals and shopping is even easier. We loved being on a quiet, residential street where we could get good sleep and have plenty of space all to ourselves. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It felt like home for the time we were lucky enough to stay there. I would definitely stay there again!

Reviewer Comments: We, a family of 4 adults, had a wonderful stay in this property in Hanalei.The house fully lived up to our expectations, the rooms are nice and spacious, and it was absolutely spotless clean when we arrived.The location close to both the beach and the town was perfect for us, and very peaceful except during working hours, where there was som noise from a building site to the back of the house. The noise didn’t bother us much, since we mostly were out and about in the daytime.The kitchen amenities were good, the bathrooms were nice and clean, and the outdoor shower was great!Overall we are very satisfied.

Nice house. Very private on a small cul-de-sac. Neighbors can be a little noisy at times -- loud conversations/music until 11pm or so isn't uncommon. But super convenient to the Lahaina main strip...easily walkable to tons of restaurants, shops, and the beach. No A/C, so you'll use the fans a lot in the summer. Kitchen has the basics, but no dishwasher.

This property ended up becoming our home for 4 days and not just a place to sleep and plop our stuff into. The location can not be understated, the beach was 5 minutes in one direction and town was 5 minutes in the other. All you need and more is within walking distance. The property was incredibly clean and every drawer had exactly what you needed. There were plenty of towels provided and a larger main bathroom than I expected. There were also unexpected beach chairs, snorkel gear, and a beach umbrella provided in the laundry space. There was an overall sense of love and care to the space that was palpable. We can’t wait to come back. I can’t leave a review without mentioning that if you are needing a/c or a dishwasher they won’t be found here. This place is a true beach cottage from another time but that isn’t a downgrade.

Terrific location - just a short, 5-minute walk to the middle of Hanalei Bay beach.Very nice place, with much more character than a condo.Only problem was a rooster who started crowing before midnight and kept it up off and on for the rest of the night. I asked my son to get out of bed, go find it, and make us some rooster fricassee. But he wouldn't.This happened only one night out of 5. No idea why.

It is in a great location in Hanalei - a couple blocks to the shops and the beach and has a very nice garden and deck area. The neighborhood is a bit of a challenge however owing to the complete lack of soundproofing. Quiet time is mentioned but this includes INSIDE the home too. Forget watching TV after dinner for which we were visited, yelled and swore at. I enjoyed a similar experience a couple days later (without the visit) for talking too loudly while doing the dishes at 8 20 in the evening.Bring a good book. Go to bed at 8pm. Talk to no-one for the remainder of the night and you'll be fine. It is a house I would have gladly returned to but NOT in the current environment - nor will I be encouraging friends and family to go.

This rental house is really well maintained. Very clean and well appointed. Lovely wood interior. It had everything we needed. Being able to walk just about everywhere was fantastic. Nice quiet neighborhood that we respected as guests Beautiful foliage on the property with a lovely lanai for morning coffee.

- neighbor complaining about noise from watching TV at reasonable volume in a rather rude way. We are seasoned travelers and very respectful towards locals wherever we go but this made us feel unwelcome. On the bright side another neighbor stopped by the next morning and apologized for her.

The house was a delight !It was very clean and had everything one would need. The cushions on the deck desperately need replacing- they were very uncomfortable as they were super thin and worn. I know there was caution given to being quiet for the neighbors but the neighbors are the noisy ones. The driveway is used as a turn around throughout the day. I could not figure out why so many cars coming to the end of the street and then turning into driveway. I would recommend a chain or rope across the driveway. Others before me have commented on this as well. They make a lot of noise turning on the gravel. Wondered if it is intentional.

Our family (husband, myself, two boys,16 and 11) had a great stay at this property. Super clean and comfortable. It's a well-lived-in house, meaning no granite countertops or fancy tiles in the bathroom. The outdoor shower is grand and the location is superb. Yes, the roosters are noisy, but they are literally everywhere. So I think you would hear them wherever you stayed in Hanalei. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

Would have given 5 stars, the property deserves it, but the resident rooster crowed the entire night. And the property behind us was under construction the whole week and were very loud (air compressor, nail gun) so it was not a relaxing place during the day. We would have appreciated a heads up on that. The property itself was perfect for us and close to the beach and downtown. It would have been lovely if it were not for all the racket.

Clean house with a 5 minute walk from the beach and from shops & restaurants. Has that 1970s surfer house vibe. Beach chairs, towels, kitchen appliances provided. We loved the outdoor shower. If you haven't been to Hanalei before know that it is gorgeous but is definitely the wet side of the island.

Perfect location only a 2 minute walk to the restaurants and shops and 2 minutes to the beach. Cozy cottage had everything we needed(just wish it had surf boards or boogies boards). Comfortable bed and the outdoor shower was wonderful! We loved being greeted by the geckos every morning. Roosters weren’t a bother at all. We will definitely be back.

Lovely Puanani!!

We loved the old school Hawaiian vibe here-quiet neighborhood (except for the roosters which lend a charm until they wake you at 2,3,4,5 am🙀), the house is simple and quiet and a perfect location. We will be back!! One comment-although the couch is cool looking it’s not very comfy. We loved having beach gear available to us. It’s a wonderful hane! Mahalo! 🌸🌺🌸
