We visited Hanalei for my son’s Spring Break and had the most perfect stay in Joan’s house. The house is cozy, modern, well equipped and perfectly located. Joan was quick to communicate and very accommodating. We could not have asked for a better home for our Spring Break.

We have stayed in Hanalei several times and this house was the most convenient for walking to coffee, shopping, markets and restaurants - Literally a 3 minute walk! We found the house to be very comfortable, although we did feel it was in need of some freshening up (new stove and oven and kitchen floor mats, specifically). We loved the cats (luckily we are a cat-obsessed family!) and they kept us entertained. We cooked a lot during our stay and had some issues with a couple of appliances due to their age, but Joan was responsive and couldn't have been more accommodating. I expect these appliances will be fixed/updated for the next guests. We enjoyed all our meals on the back lanai. We would have liked the backyard to be better appointed with some seating because it was a lovely setting. We ran out of propane after the first dinner, so we didn't use the grill after that. (The extra tanks in the garage felt empty, but maybe they weren't). The roosters didn't bother us. Anyway, all in all we had a great time in our Happy Place, Hanalei! I hope we left the home in good shape for the next guests. Thank you, Joan!

Let me start my saying the property owner seems very nice and is very responsive. The house itself is weathered, in need of an update and a deep cleaning. It is very well located, right near town and about an 8 minute walk to the beach if you’re lugging equipment. I would recommend you like cats if you stay here. When we arrived there were about five plus cat beds, scratching posts along with tons of cat nip on the porch. The property owner had it moved when I asked but the outdoor doesn’t feel very clean and floors aren’t mopped and the furniture is not very clean. Overall we didn’t spend any time on the lanais or anywhere in the backyard because of this. That was quite disappointing. The house is well laid out and the size is comfortable but again, it doesn’t didn’t feel very clean. Wish I had a better review for it and hopefully it will get a deep cleaning in the future.

We love this house in Hanalei and have stayed here multiple times. It is comfortable, very well maintained and in a great location - close to town and an easy walk to the beach. The owner is wonderful and really cares about the guest experience.

We can't say enough great things about this home, we actually thought about skipping a review to keep it our little secret! :) We woke up our last morning and all said we will miss the house as much as Hanalei! It had everything we needed and more and was our best rental yet. This will be our top pick to stay every time we come to Kauai (hopefully not too far away....) Perfect location, perfect house, amazing hosts. It felt like we were staying with family instead of a VRBO. Thank you for sharing your home with us, Joan!

Great location: a few blocks to the beach; a couple blocks to the Hanalei restaurants. Great house: nice, roomy open layout in the common area; nice bedrooms; very quiet location; very private due to landscaping. Nice host. Fast internet. Our family of four was very comfortable for a week here and would definitely return.

We are a 3-generation family of 6 and enjoyed our stay in this lovely house in Hanalei. It is well located - within easy walking distance of the beach and all of the restaurants and shops in Hanalei. The house is well stocked both for beach adventures (chairs, umbrellas, wagons, sand toys, snorkeling gear, etc.) and for being comfortable indoors, with A/C in every room and a fully stocked kitchen. We also spent a lot of time on the back lanai, enjoying morning coffee and evening cocktails while the kids played the yard. Hanalei is a special place, and this is the perfect place to enjoy it!

This house is so special. The location is amazing. Steps away from shops and restaurants and 5 minute walk to the beach. We visited with our three young children and this house had all the items we needed to make it easy- wagon, beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, boogie boys, and MORE! Main living area and bedrooms have AC and beds are very comfortable. Thank you to the host for sharing your incredible home, we would love to stay here again!

We have stayed in Hanalei/Kauai many times and the house and host exceeded our expectations. First off, communications with Joan concerning arrival and questions about where things were located during stay were prompt and very helpful. The house is beautiful and very well kept. The beds were super comfortable, all the appliances worked well, and the pantry spices and other items were a nice touch! The a/c came in handy at night (separate unit for each room, which is great) and access to the beach equipment in garage was a huge plus (boogie boards, SUPs, kayak, chairs, snorkel gear, etc.). The lanai was fantastic and was blessed with a number of friendly neighborhood cats who would show up for outdoor feedings in the morning and evenings (Joan provided plenty of cat food for them) which my family thoroughly enjoyed! Location is perfect to walk to town or beach. Great host, great house! Mahalo!

Located minutes from the beach and all things Hanalei, we couldn’t have asked for a more desirable location! The design aesthetic is on point and everything was homey and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and includes everything needed to enjoy a chef’s dining experience. A huge plus was the filtered water system so we could top off our water bottles for our adventures exploring. The beds and linens were excellent and added to the general serenity of the house. It really is a peaceful place. Although we rented a car, we walked everywhere in town and to the beach, and rode the provided bikes around greater Hanalei. The hosts have provided every amenity you could want - bikes, beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, stand-up paddle boards, and more. It truly felt like home! We did not have a single complaint or improvement to suggest and feel so lucky to have found this oasis in the middle of paradise.

This was our first trip to Kauai and I am grateful to have chosen Hanalei to stay. Joan is a wonderful host! Her directions for access were clear and easy to understand. She is quick to respond if you have any questions. The home is beautiful and well equipped. The back deck is peaceful and private. The home has everything you need to enjoy the beach - chairs, towels, boogie boards etc. The town of Hanalei is only one block outside the court. There are plenty of restaurants if you choose to eat out but the kitchen is well equipped if you choose to cook and eat in. We had a wonderful time and hope to come again!

This is a really nice house in a perfect Hanalei location, near restaurants, shopping, and many activities, with a five minute walk to the beach. The house is modern, roomy, and well equipped. The yard is private, with lovely landscaping and citrus trees. Joan is the best possible host - accommodating, communicative, and kind. She really wants her guests to have a great stay and she goes out of her way to make sure they do. I hope we have a chance to stay here again.

We arrived on the sweet cul-de-sac and were so pleasantly surprised when we got inside the house, because the pictures truly did not do this home justice. You can tell this is a loved home. It’s close to everything in Hanalei, we walked back and forth from the house to the beach and to town multiple times a day. We met some of the neighbors and everyone was very nice and welcoming. We want to make this house a part of our annual trip going forward, I can’t recommend this place enough!

We thoroughly enjoyed this home which has a secluded backyard and is also walking distance to restaurants and shops and walking to the beach! The home is spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen!

We have stayed multiple times And love our Hanalei home away from home. . Location is perfect, easy walk to beach and town. Owner super easy to work. House layout is open and perfect for us with beautiful lanais and is Well appointed and clean. We will be back.

Location and convenience to Hanalei was fantastic. House was clean, as advertised and wonderfully quiet. Made 2 new friends there ( the cats). Beautiful area to be. Loved having beach accessories available in the garage. The roosters were quaint. Didn’t bother me. Actually produced a smile every 6 seconds or so when they crowed. Loved both front and back porch to watch waterfalls and backyard was exceedingly tranquil. Easy house instructions and nice practical setup. Thanks for the opportunity! We don’t want to leave! Hopefully be back next year!

Great location with private backyard. Privacy is hard to find so close to Hanalei’s shops, but you can actually wear your PJ’s and not be seen in this backyard. The walk to the heart of Hanalei’s town is two minutes. The walk to the beach is less than ten minutes. The house was beautiful, clean and the beds were comfortable. The front and back patio we’re huge and a great place to hang out. The kitchen has everything you need to cook full meals and the grill outside works perfect. The houses finishes were high end with Hawaiian style wood, travertine, and granite. . The house is spacious and the master suite is on the opposite side of the living room from the other two rooms. All of the rooms are a nice size. Six adults would easily enjoy this house and still have a good amount of privacy. This house is located on a quiet culd-a-sac away from street noise and close to Hanalei shopping and restaurants. This makes it convenient to walk over to the grocery store or to grab a bite to eat. At the same you’re only a 2 minute walk (or bicycle ride) to Hanalei beach. It’s just a perfect location. The house was clean and had everything we needed. When we needed to get ahold of the owner she was quick to respond and was very helpful. There were a couple cats that come and go and sometimes hang out on the property and you can feed them if you want or just ignore them. We chose to feed them and make a couple temporary friends during our stay. This is a perfect house for a wonderful stay in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay here...perfect location close to the beach and town...we never had to get in the car. The house was beautiful, with plenty of room to spread out. We'll be back!

What a lovely property in a superb location! It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 1 minute walk to downtown Hanalei. Clean, charmingly decorated, well stocked, nice layout, and very responsive and friendly owner.

We thoroughly enjoyed the house and our 9 day stay in Hanalei. The house was clean, well-appointed, with all we needed. It is a couple blocks from the charming town center (but still very quiet), a 5-10 minute walk to the gorgeous beach, and has a back porch with a tropical, private landscape view. It was a little warm in the afternoons during the warmer days, but cooled nicely at night. Joan was very responsive and kind with all of our questions. Wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay! The porch was a beautiful place to sit and relax. The location was ideal. The list of local attractions was very helpful. We had a great day at Secret Beach! Absolutely perfect!

Everything was exactly as pictured and described. Beautiful, comfortable home, great kitchen, ideally located in Hanalei. Will stay here again next time we come, without a doubt.

The house was perfect for our trip with 4 adults and one infant. Large, light rooms, a spacious kitchen and a comfortable living room with beautiful views. We loved spending time on the lanai. It was the perfect location for us, with a quick easy walk to both the beach and the grocery store and restaurants. There were a lot of beach accessories to borrow, but we struggled to get the umbrellas to work on windy days at the beach. The roosters are loud -- we had a sound machine for the baby that we all wanted to borrow. Joan and the property manager were both very responsive and super helpful.

Joan’s house is perfectly located, amazing for a family trip, nice and spacious. Just a total delight and we would love to return!

We hope to visit again in the future. Our favorite experience was eating breakfast or just relaxing in the backyard patio. Very serene.

The pictures don't do this property justice. The interior is open and spacious with modern amenities. The wrap around porch is absolutely stunning. We stayed here with our family of 6 and everyone had plenty of room to spread out. The location is GREAT. It is literally less than minute walk from town and just 5 minutes down to the beach. Even though you are close to town the property is also very quiet (with the exception of Kauai's infamous roosters) because of the mini-jungle foliage and small stream that borders the backyard. The owner was very responsive in answering questions and following up with us to make sure our stay was good. I highly recommend.

Tough one to rate as it could be a great property. We were disappointed with the cleanliness. The master toilet was didn't appear to be cleaned and the baseboards and door was dirty. The kitchen cabinets were sticky and most of the doors and light switches throughout the house were dirty with hand marks. We ended up wiping a lot of things down ourself. Also, for a house of this caliber and cost, you would expect everything to be working as advertised. The ceiling fan in the master had a broken blade so we were asked not to use it and instead there was a floor fan. We needed to keep the windows open to stay cool. In the owner notes it's recommended to keep fan on and windows closed so you can sleep.....ROOSTERS! I think the roosters live right outside the master's windows of this house, never before did they seem so loud. Needless to say we didn't sleep the best. The jets in both "jetted tubs" (as advertised) didn't work either.....With all that said, we love Hanalei, as this was our 8th trip there, so its hard to complain too much, but we were disappointed in this property and thought we would share. If the cleaning and upkeep were addressed this would be a fine property. We have a favorite property where we generally stay and hope for our next trip it is available.

All the reviews are spot on. This is a great house with a beautiful property, nicely appointed rooms and in absolutely the best location in town. A very short walk to all the stores and restaurants, and also a short walk to the beach. They also supply you with most things you need for the beach and ocean. One of the boogie boards was on its last legs, but we ended up renting one for $4.00 for the whole day down the street. I almost didn't want to write this so we don't have any trouble renting it again in the future! A few quick notes about Hanalei and Kaua'i in general: - The traffic from the airport to Hanalei was pretty bad while we were there (especially through Kapa'a). Even the main road in Hanalei backs up due to the one car bridge separating the town and the Princeville development. Be prepared to sit in traffic, or just don't leave town. -The roosters are quite vocal so don't plan on sleeping in. We got used to them by the end of the week, but they are not shy. Nor are the cats, which my kids fed the entire week. I think it's charming, but maybe not everyone would. -We did the Smith Family Luau which was very good, but it requires you to drive quite a while, so you might be better off looking for something closeby. -We did a snorkeling/excursion from the South side of the island to explore Napali coast which was a life changer. We had an extraordinarily calm sunny day and were able to see a number of humpbacks up close frolicking near the Northwest side of the island. It was so calm they were able to bring the boat underneath a waterfall you could dunk your head in. It was insane. That said, I heard after the fact they run a catamaran tour right out of the North shore, so you might be better off doing that instead of driving the circumference of the island. However, we were able to see the Waimea Canyon from the boat which is breathtaking, which you wouldn't see if you leave from the North End. -Last note: DO NOT FORGET BUG SPRAY! The mosquitos are not like they are on the mainland. You don't hear them, see them or feel them. But if you don't protect yourself, they will eat you alive!!! Some were lucky in our group because the bugs didn't like them, but those of us that were on the menu, oh boy. I had dozens of bites up and down my legs that I still have bites marks from two weeks later. Learn from my mistake and your trip (and return) will be much more pleasant. Aloha!

My wife and I have been coming to Hanalei for many years we absolutely love this house and the location. It is just a one minute walk to town with some of the best coffee shops and restaurants. You're also a five minute walk to Hanalei pavilion in the middle of Hanalei Bay. The house is well-equipped with an excellent kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The backyard lanai is great for meals. There is very little rooster noise even in the morning and there are some friendly cats that hang around the property. The neighbors are very friendly as well. We will definitely come back with our family.

The house was very easy to find following the very detailed instructions provided - even in a driving rainstorm at night. It is a lovely home, lots of space and very comfortable beds. Although my son recommends nto pushing the twin beds together to form a king. Walking distance to anything you would need in terms of food, non-beach entertainment, shave ice, acai bowls, ukulele strings. You name it, you can walk to it. The beach is also very walkable although we found the short drive to any of the three beach entrances was preferable due to the amount of stuff we brought every day. Thanks so much for the use of the chairs, beach towels, cooler and umbrellas. Very, very nice to have handy! Our kids (13 and 10) loved and name the cats (helped them not to miss our too much). Be forewarned - if you decide to feed the cats (completely optional per the instructions), cat food brings roosters! And the roosters really are quite the conundrum all over the island. They go off all hours of the night. After day two and running the fan for white noise, we adapted to the island norm. Thanks agian for sharing your home We look forward to a return stay!

All I can say is we flipped out once we entered our rental....so warm, we'll-equipped, clean, well-situated in Hanalei....just couldn't have found lovelier property in which to spend the week. Highly recommend it for any/all seeking home away from home during a magnificent Halalei stay!
