About this house rental

The Wai'oli, a spacious beach home with AC in the bedrooms is part of a duplex. A short stroll from the beach, granite counters, travertine floors, Hawaiian style furnishings, standard appliances, Weber BBQ & outdoor shower in your private back yard await you. Relaxing and family-friendly floor plan, convenient to most the North Shore beaches (Standard & Maximum Occupancy is 4).

A two-minute stroll will bring you to Wai'oli Beach Park in the center of Hanalei Bay. A few blocks away lies the Hanalei town center with eclectic shops, beach toy rentals (masks, boards, kayaks and bicycles), market, fish store and excellent restaurants.

It's all in the neighborhood, and Hanalei is a great neighborhood with a fabulous bay, beautiful mountains, waterfalls and rainbows. These are the best rates in Hanalei for this quality and proximity to the bay.

With all the Hanalei has to offer, well maintained calming space so close to the bay & Hanalei town, this is a fabulous value for a larger group & multi-generational families.

There are 2 bedrooms, one king, 2 twins, and 2 full baths. A hot and cold outside shower for after the beach is a wonderful plus.

Please be aware that when you book this house or any accommodations by the ocean in Hawaii, not on a bluff, you are booking in a tsunami evacuation zone. Evacuation instructions will be in the house and notice of the tsunami evacuation zone will be part of your contract. Also, please know that we cannot accommodate charging of electric vehicles at this property.

The house was a great home for us while on our trip to Kauai! It was clean and well supplied, a block from the beach, and a 15 minute walk from the shops and restaurants downtown Hanalei! The property owner was quick to help us when one of the AC units wasn’t working when we first arrived. The outdoor shower was great for all the post beach and activity rinses!

The management was attentive and responsive. The location to the beach was great. The house needs work. The stove is really hot so most of our food burned. The front sliding glass door doesnt lock and barely closes. There are red bugs allThroughout the kitchen and living area. They attack everything. The kids water bottle was covered with them in the morning. We wouldn’t stay there again unfortunately

Hanalei’s an amazing place and this rental puts you close enough to town and the beach - but it could be much better if the owner put a little more care into the unit. The attractive exterior is newer than others and faces an incredible Mountain View on the main road, but the layout of the oddly designed unit only affords the person at the kitchen sink (and front bedroom) this striking vista. The best? The price was right and there’s plenty of space in the open concept living area. The newish rattan furniture is attractive. The washer and dryer worked perfectly and is helpful for a Hawaii trip. “Not so great” - many parts are beyond worn and need replacement: pillows, bedding, mattresses, and tiny random beach towels.But the worst was the beach accessories closet - it was a messy, ignored area, littered with rusted chairs, leftover junk from previous guests, and sharp rusted beach umbrellas. It was emblematic of no one putting care and thought into this potentially great rental. There’s also one sad exposed light bulb hanging over the dining table where there desperately needs to be a ceiling fan & light. But the biggest negative is the claim of “AC.” This unit only has ac in the two bedrooms, NOT any in the voluminous open concept living space. This, combined with a poor cross ventilation, means your living area is HOT. At 82, with fans, it was still and HOT. Listing needs update. Centipedes in both bedrooms & ants in one also. Not awful - just needs attention.

Good things first: Property manager Ray was very helpful and quick to respond. Very close to beach and beautiful views from kitchen window. Unfortunates: outdated and kind of dingy decor; house was very hot and humid when we arrived-I know it’s difficult when trying to save electricity, however, it would be nice if the air conditioning was on and the fans were going to make it pleasant. We found roaches under the sink when we arrived. We stay in many rentals and typically there more supplies. We were only given one extra trash bag; there was a very cheap bar of soap in the restrooms and no other shampoos. Shower head in primary was old and clogged. Carpets stained and dingy. Beach chairs are old and rusty - stained our swimsuits. Location’s great but the home could use a little more.

Our family of four had a great time spending mid winter break here. The house was clean, the kitchen well equipped and everything just as shown in the listing. It's a quick stroll to the wonderful beach and a longer walk (with kids) to the town center and pier. A good assortment of towels, beach towels and beach gear was available at the house. The AC in the bedrooms were nice to have. Beds were on the soft side and the host didn't provide shampoo or body wash. I hope we'll be able to visit again and I'd recommend this home to a friend.

3rd trip to the island & first time getting a vacation rental. We were happy we did & will definitely be booking this property again. I loved walking to the bay every morning coffee in hand. The property is like something out of a fairytale. Waterfalls can be seen from the kitchen sink & there’s a snail & mushroom garden in the back. Please don’t take the snails shells & be careful where you walk. Mahalo for the lovely stay.

The property is well equipped and set up for a long family getaway. We stayed for 7 days and didn't want to leave. The house is spacious, and the bedrooms are comfy and air conditioned. It's very well located... a 10 minute walk to organic and regular markets, and a 5 minute walk to a great swimming & surfing beach, and 15 minute drive to snorkeling at Tunnels beach to the west or Anini beach to the east, and a close walk or drive to fantastic restaurants if you don't want to cook. From our experience, this is the best side of the island, and this house is a perfect home base from which to experience it.

We normally stay in hotels but decided to try a house this time and we are so glad we did! We were married in Hanalei 23 years ago and wanted to bring our teenage daughters to see the area. The house was perfect for our family of four. The girls had their own room and bathroom which was great and the proximity from the house to the beach and town were both amazing! The house was so well stocked and clean. And, it was quiet except for an occasional rooster. LOL We enjoyed cooking at the house and we used the beach chairs and towels for our daily visit to the beach. The washer and dryer were clean and new and convenient. We had everything we needed and could not have asked for a better experience at this property. We will definitely be back.

This 2-bedroom was perfect for 4 adults. The rooms were great and both had AC units, which were much appreciated. The kitchen, dining room and living room were comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils and appliances. The location was great, just a short walk from Pine Trees parking lot and beach. We were very happy here and would definitely come back.

This is a great spot in Hanalei. Walking distance to the beach, we went everyday. Beautiful view of the mountains and waterfalls out the kitchen window. Kitchen was well equipped, we cooked in every night. Outdoor shower was a huge bonus after beach time, and the outdoor grill was great. We will be back for sure.

We had a terrific stay! The location is just amazing--a two minute walk from the beach, right near a wonderful break called Middles, where we loved surfing every day. The hosts were helpful and the yard/outdoor space was even better than it looked in the pictures. The interior wasn't as bright as I expected, based on the pictures, but it was nice and spacious. Just as others have written, this is a comfortable home with a very well stocked kitchen that is super convenient (1.5 blocks) to the beach. The proximity let us maximize beach time because we could quickly walk over when the rain stopped.

Lovely property within walking distance to the beach. Has A/C in the two bedrooms but not the main living area. Owner has provided 4 fans to help but still quite warm in the main living areas. This home is just about as perfect as it gets for a stay on the North Shore. It's close enough to Hanalei town that you can drive in a few minutes or walk in 10-15, but also far enough away that it's quiet and peaceful. We were blown away at the beauty just outside the doorstep, not to mention everywhere we ventured during our week on Kauai. The beach is a two-minute walk away. One tip - when you walk to the beach, you go right to go into town and to the pier. But don't forget to walk left at least once, because you'll come to the confluence of the Waioli stream and the bay, and it's truly a magical spot, especially around sundown.

Great home and location. However, the loft is not usable as they need another ac unit up there. They shouldnt advertise it as a sleeping area. It must be over 100 degrees up there. The twin beds were too small for my 22-year-old so recommend they exchange those for extra-long twins so adult siblings can sleep in the same room. Lots of pots and pans, dishes, newer washer and dryer. Great distance to the beach, coffee, restaurants and stores.

Loved the location! We were at the beach every day and my kids could easily walk to town. Upstairs room is too hot to be slept in so all three of my kids slept in the downstairs room. Beach toys were great! Only had two rolls of toilet paper in the house, no trash bags and no laundry detergent so that was kind of annoying but I just bought some and left them at the house.

This property was wonderful for our two boys (6 and 7) and myself w our nanny. The location couldn’t be better, as you are close to the beach and to town. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with a spacious cooking area and dining room. We really felt like we had room to spread out. We really appreciated the boogie boards and sun chairs that were available for our use. This is a wonderful property and we will definitely be back!
