• HOW DO WE GET THERE FROM CANCUN AIRPORT? Playa is a 45-minute drive south of the airport. We provide a private van service for $185 round trip, max 8 people, child seats available. Other options: Taxi $70 one-way, Rental car, Hourly Express bus.
• WHERE IS THE PROPERTY? El Faro is located in the heart of Playa’s main tourist district at Calle 10 and the beach, one block from Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue is a world famous, 40+-block pedestrian promenade with relaxed cafes and gourmet restaurants, exclusive lounges, and al fresco bars, intriguing boutiques and local purveyors of all types and variety.
• IS EL FARO TRULY BEACHFRONT? Yes and all the condos that we represent in Playa have stunning ocean views.
• CAN WE SWIM AND SNORKEL IN THE OCEAN IN FRONT OF El FARO? Our beach is rated as one of the top beaches in Mexico because of it’s soft white sand and calm aqua blue water providing safe and enjoyable swimming conditions for people of all ages. The reef off our shore offers excellent snorkeling conditions with a multitude of colorful coral formations and exotic fish and marine life but you will need to hire a snorkeling guide with a boat to get there.
• DO WE NEED A CAR? Not necessarily because Playa is pedestrian friendly and we are close to everything. We typically walk or cab around town and rent a car on an as needed basis for regional excursions. There are several car rental agencies within a few blocks. One parking space is available in the garage.
• WHERE DO WE GROCERY SHOP? We have several small markets within one block and several full service grocery stores within 7 blocks.
• DO YOU HAVE INTERNET SERVICE? We have cable TV, high speed wireless internet.
• CAN YOU RECOMMEND ACTIVITIES AND RESTAURANTS? We visit Playa five times a year so we are constantly updating our list of favorite activities and restaurants.

We had an amazing stay at El Faro.The location is incredible. The beach is literally about 10 feet away. The pool is right beside the condo and downtown Playa del Carmen is directly behind you. Everything is within walking distance including restaurants, shops, and the Cozumel ferry just a few blocks away.Our flight was delayed and we arrived much later than expected, but there is 24 hour security on site and the guard was able to open our unit for us right away, which made the late arrival very easy.Even though the property is very central, it was not overly loud at night. Since you are right on the beach you will hear people talking on the sand in the evenings, but for us it was never disruptive.The condo itself was spacious and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and we always felt very safe.The unit is minimally stocked with supplies, just a few mini shampoos, conditioner and a bar of soap provided. However a Soriana grocery store is about a half mile walk away and you can purchase extra stuff.We stayed five nights and could easily have stayed longer. Overall this is one of the best locations in Playa del Carmen and we would absolutely stay here again.

Check in process was easy, the complex always felt safe and patroled (almost abundanently so). The unit was clean with full amentities including filtered water, beach towels, full kitchen and toiletries! Could not beat the location! Will certainly be back

First off this is a really nice unit located right on the beach with 2 patio areas. The view is amazing every morning when the sun rises. You walk out the door and you are at the pool or the sandy beach it doesn't get any better than that. The unit is comfortable with nice bed mattresses and linens. Kitchen is well fitted for your stay and has a view right out to the beach and ocean. Access to groceries and restaurants are all within walking distance. Cabs right out by the front entrance to El Faro. You're just blocks from the famous 5th Avenue. The security personnel at El Faro are awesome and they make you feel safe day and night.
But being right on the ocean in Playa del Carmen has its issues. It is a busy beach, day and night! Noisy especially weekend nights way into the next morning. I knew this going in, we have stayed at El Faro before. Reef 101's location trumped the noise for this trip as did the price for unit!
The sour part of our stay is this unit seeps water in under the floor in the kitchen area during rain storms. I am not sure how others resolve it but laying out all our beach towels onto the kitchen and hallway floors worked. I had to stay up to wring them out in the sink every 30 minutes until it stopped coming in around 830 am. I had to wait until 900 am to notify the property manager who then showed up at 1015. A repair guy from the property management arrived around 200pm and took out the dishwasher but it was working okay. He told me it must of been water seeping in from the rain the day before. They even checked the unit above due to amount of water. It did it again the day we left.
Why a only a 3 star? Property Management team had a few issues on communication with me even though Benjamin filled in for our guy on the flood day. Unfortunately I never saw anyone before or after that. Do not expect a warm fuzzy from owner. I only had one contact and that was for ID's needed prior to arrival at front desk. It could of been a computer generated communication. The flooding is another lost point. I shouldn't be wring out towels throughout the night trying to keep the place dry. You can't imagine the humidity in the condo for a couple of days after that. Final issue for this stay was the pool was half full for 11 of our 14 days due to a repair and dailey on site construction noise from jack hammers to grinders to skill saws. Maybe that is why we got a great price. I thought it was due to COVID ?
