We were thrilled we heard about The Treehouse for our Kauai stay! We had so much space and amenities for our family of 6! The proximity to Hanalei and Tunnels Beach was amazing. We loved how secluded our house was and enjoyed feeling like we lived in the trees! There were lots of towels and beach gear. We floated to the beach using the river and enjoyed jumping in the fresh water after a salty beach day! A balcony off every room and two refrigerators were just a bonus! We loved playing games together on the screened in lanai every night! All of us were sad to leave!

I'll start with the challenges.1) This home has no AC. It gets warm during the day.2) The dogs across the river don't have an off button.3) The road can be loud at times.Go into this with those things accepted and you will find our FAVORITE spot on Kauai to date. The home is beautiful, it's bright and airy. You ARE in nature. The landscaping is thoughtful, and there was plenty of space for our family of five.Every window is screened, there are smart TV's and good wifi. Best of all? This home is about as far NW as you can get. The beaches are pristine and nearly empty compared to the ones elsewhere on the island. The coffee shop down the street was a delight. Getting into the driveway from the North is a bit of a challenge (go past it, turn around, then make your way in).Highly recommended.

I rented this for me and my 5 adult kids (26-31 yo). We had plenty of room and were very comfortable. It’s at the end of the road and takes a while to get to and from, but it was quiet and relaxing. Loved it!

My family’s experience in the treehouse was pretty amazing! We enjoyed nine nights and nine beautiful days in the Hanalei area and beyond. There were five of us total. The three bedrooms accommodated us well. If you enjoy waking up with daylight rising right outside your lanai, then I would definitely choose the surf room. If you prefer to sleep in a little longer, you might consider the other two bedrooms. There were 26 steps to climb to reach the front door, and I enjoyed every single one of them. I especially loved hearing the bullfrogs at night. One day I decided to ask Google how to describe the sound that bullfrogs make. My answer was confusing and a little silly. Google answered “ Jug of rum“ there was no way I could ever make “jug of rum” out of their songs at night! The singing birds were an added attraction . The roosters were active pretty much all night, but it really didn’t bother any of us. The beds were comfortable. The master bathroom shower was amazing! The cleanliness could’ve been upped a little, but I guess everybody has their own ideas of cleanliness. We were also a little surprised that we had no sauce pans in the kitchen and the kitchen refrigerator was not working properly causing us to lose some food items, however there was a working fridge on the lanai. All in all, it was the best Hawaii trip of the family thus far. And I think everyone would agree with me.

The house was very comfortable, functional, and kitchen was well equipped. Enjoyed the location and north shore activities, people, and beaches.While somewhat remote the neighborhood was noisy. Several dogs nearby barked often throughout the day and night. You could hear traffic crossing the nearby bridges. That was our only comcern.

Staying in the Kauai Tree House definitely gives you a taste of island living. The house is on a beautiful property and the house itself is very nice. The layout was perfect for my husband and I and our 2 kids, 20 and 16. The master suite is on the opposite end of the house than the other two bedrooms. The beds are super comfortable and we did sleep well for the most part. There are hunting dogs near the house and they can make a lot of noise, but we used a white noise app and that helped a lot. The house was clean, for the most part. There are geckos and they do get into the house which didn't bother us, but you can definitely see where they hang out the most in the master bedroom. There were a few corners of the room that really needed to be cleaned. The geckos don't bother you and they eat the bugs so that's a plus! They also make cute chirping noises. So if you don't mind nature then this is a great place for you. I will miss morning coffee on the screened lanai and bird watching There are great beach chairs, beach umbrella and snorkeling gear at the house for renters to use. The kitchen is stocked pretty well with plates and bowls, pots and pans cooking utensils and storage containers. The one thing we didn't have was cleaning supplies. We did have liquid dish detergent and some washing machine pods but no dishwasher pods or antibacterial wipes or spray so we bought some to use while there. We enjoyed the house and loved Kauai We hope to be back soon!

This is a very nice house. Every bedroom has a nice deck off of it. The trees around the house are beautiful. There are lots of songbirds in the trees. There is a river that flows through the backyard. It is not a busy location which was nice. The washing machine did not work which was a bummer. It is also very noisy at night. The many dogs next door bark late into the night and the multiple wild roosters start crowing at 3AM and don't stop until late late morning. I have heard that this is fairly common in Hawaii but you should bring earplugs.

Overall our stay was wonderful. A couple notes for future renters. 1) You will either need to walk down the road or provide your own flotation devices to get to the beach referenced in the listing. 2) Dog barking happens all the time. It is was it is, and was on the same level of the roosters crowing at 3am. 3) There is no air conditioning. This was not an issue for us during our stay, but if it’s a must for you I would encourage a different booking. Overall we had a great stay.

We had to ask manager to have someone come clean the floors after we got there and my wife still had to clean the closet and areas because they were still very dirty. There are only 6 plates and bowls. So if you stay with 6 people you have to do dishes after every meal. The area is secluded but neighbors have dogs. The beach that is close requires you to walk over two one lane bridges. Finally the house needs new appliances, dishwasher, washer and dryer. Several of the pieces of furniture are also quite old. This wasn’t a house we wanted to hang out in.

This home was absolutely amazing. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. It really is a little slice of heaven. They were easy to contact and responded quickly. There were dogs that barked in the evening, but not bad. We will stay here again for sure.

We really found the place to be great. Clean, well equipped, great location, etc. That said, I would be remiss if I dod not mention some of the detractors (outside of owner/manager control). First, I haven't herd "The Margareta" in a while, and I felt like I had survived through that dark time (baby shark is worse, but not by much). But, whilest the children were nestled, all snug in their bed, a frightful song entered my head! Out on the lawn (next house up) there arose such a clatter, I sprang out of my bed to see what was a matter? When what to my wondering eyes should appear, a very loud party with plenty of beer! The playlist was culled from a station of hits, those ones when you hear them you loose all your wits ("call me maybe"anyone?). So loud party past 11:00pm...and, this is something on the property guid that should be alarming, "should you encounter incessant barking dogs....." Well, we did. The neighborhood has a feel of deliverance mixed with lord of the flies. Look at the sign next steet over, "local trafic only" with an unofficial addendum "no tourists". They are hunting hogs with dogs. And we had numerous close range gunshots, idling vehicles and shrouded conversations. Anyhow..you should know this. But, know also that we wouldn't take the trip back. We had a wonderful trip and the place is very well kept and nice and we thank the managers and owners for doing their best.

Well thoroughly enjoyed everything about this place. Close to everything as well as secluded from everything! It felt like we were in the middle or a rain forest! But just down the road everything you need. Also everything you need for the beach already there! I would definitely come back to stay here if i ever make it back to this amazing island!

We had lovely week away from the hubbub of other travelers. As you will read in other reviews, there are neighborhood dogs that do bark a lot but we generally were able to ignore. The roosters early in the morning will definitely wake you though! Everything else was great and we appreciated the beauty around us. Very relaxing!

We enjoyed our stay at the treehouse! It had the perfect amount of space for our family of 8. Prepare to see LOTS of geckos! And you will hear dogs barking / roosters crowing daily. I wish i'd known how much beach gear they had! I wouldn't of needed to rent more from the car person. They have a few smaller boards, lots of snorkles and goggles, 4 beach chairs and lots of towels, an umbrella, a cooler, and a closet of sun screen, aftersun, bugspray and games! There was already one small child life vest and we left our 10yr old lifevest we'd bought for future house guests.

John’s house was perfect! Two wings of the house so each family can have privacy and living room and kitchen located centrally for all to enjoy together! This house was exactly what we hoped it would be. River in the backyard, super close to the beaches we wanted to spend our days at, and clean.

John’s place is great. Everything worked out fine and was well decorated. Close to an excellent locals only beach you won’t find in the guidebooks with bridge jumping, rope swing, and even some rock jumping into a freshwater river. As a private home it had all the implements to cook at home and all the towels and bedding were good. We used selling fans and enjoyed the cool breeze and decor of the home. We were six people with three generations and all loved his place. When we had not heard from the property manager John was incredibly responsive and charming. Mahalo to John for a wonderful stay at his theee bedroom home.

We stayed here in April for fun and it was good, then came back in May for work and it was excellent. They had finished some minor home repair work, restocked the beach gear, and it was a perfect place. We love this house.

Stayed here for 6 nights & overall it was a great experience. Cleaners could have been a little more detail oriented. Kitchen sink didn’t get wiped out and it didn’t appear the house had been vacuumed/swept very well (if at all). Some kitchen utensils and other little things are well used and could be replaced. Beds were comfortable! Nothing the property can do & no fault of your own, but be aware the barking neighborhood dogs can be heard. They can get loud and obnoxious. We loved being way out in the middle of nowhere, but keep in mind, it’s out there and takes quite some time to get anywhere.

The house is amazing and remote and what we were looking for. The neighborhood however is very loud with literally constant dog and rooster sounds. No fault of the house, but if you want quiet, run the fans on high or reconsider another house. The location cannot be beat however. The house does need some TLC, none of the screen doors worked to open and close easily, the hardware for the bathroom was sitting on the floor, and the TV took 7 days to get fixed. Not a big thing as you don't really need TV in hawaii but just FYI if you are looking for a luxury hotel style property this is not it. If you want an authentic location and ample space, this is a great choice.

Hello, our stay was awesome. Although there are some things that could use some help. The cabinets in the kitchen dont work properly. The master bathroom cabinet door doesn’t stay shut. The master rooms floor was not clean, and I couldn't find a mop. All the snorkling gear was horribly dirty. Was unable to use the BBQ. No propane and everything was locked so we couldnt go fill it. Now on the good notes. Location was amazing. Lots of towels for all the people we had. Beds were so comfortable. And living room space was nice for hanging out listening to nature around us. Even with all the corks we would come back. Thank you for sharing your house.
