About this house rental

This home has a spacious lanai from which to enjoy panoramic views during your morning cup of coffee or a relaxing evening. Vaulted ceiling and hardwood floors in the great room make this a great place to build family memories. There is air conditioning in each of the bedrooms. The swishing of palm trees and the soft sound of occasional showers adds a tropical experience.

Our family had a wonderful week at this house. If you prioritize location and views, Pua Melia cannot be beat unless you're literally trying to stay beachfront. There is a lot to love about the property - location, views, easy beach access, really comfortable beds, and the property management company is very helpful and responsive. I should add the air conditioners in the bedrooms were an awesome, unexpected touch for Kauai. The west facing windows in the bedrooms provide amazing views, but it also meant the bedrooms get hot, and having the in-room air conditioners in the bedrooms was great. For us, there were just a few things that prevent us from giving the house a 10 out of 10 rating. As a family with young kids, the lack of beach stuff was a bummer. There were plenty of chairs, two coolers, two boogies boards, and one (somewhat broken) beach umbrella, but no sand toys, no sand wagon, and no other beach gear. The lack of outdoor shower was also a challenge for us. The hose is good for sandy feet, but our family is pretty active in the water, which means lots of sand in swimsuits - it was really challenging trying to get sand off bodies outside with just a hose. There was some bright colored carpet stains in the corners of the bedrooms that was likely from water damage and certainly caught the eye. Finally, the downstairs laundry room had a really unpleasant, musty smell. Overall, the location, views, and beds/rooms are fantastic and we had a great week!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great house. Great location. My daughter timed it and says it is a 3 minute walk to the beach and 7 minutes to Hanalei town. Great views of mountains and beach. This was our 3rd trip to Hanalei and our favorite house so far. Our favorite activity was walking to the beach in the morning to surf, walking to town in the afternoon to eat and look at the shops, then back to the beach for the afternoon and sunset, followed by dinner at the house.Everything in the house worked well. We did not need the air conditioners. Just opened the windows for ocean breezes. Garage is stocked with chairs for the beach and a couple umbrellas and coolers. Plenty of towels and the kitchen was set up with everything from rice cooker, to toaster oven. The only thing I wish they had is an outdoor shower, but not a big deal because there are showers at the beach and a hose at the front of the house.

The property managers were friendly, quick and responsive when we needed help. There were issues with bugs, cockroaches, which they sprayed on our second day. Also an ant infestation in the kitchen, which we did not call about. We did not call about. It would have been better if they had treated before our arrival.

The house was in a perfect location in Hanalei. The house was great and the kitchen was well stocked with cooking paraphernalia. I only wish you could get your kids in a lock box at the house instead of picking them up and dropping them at the realtors office by the airport.

We love Hanalei and have stayed in houses on Weke several times. This house has a great layout for a family of four plus two grandparents. The kitchen is well stocked and there were plenty of towels for all of us. Our only challenge was the heat due in large part to no trade winds. There are individual air conditioners in the bedroom but not in the living area. We asked for some fans and they were quickly delivered. We would have liked the house to be cooled down a bit before we got there. We actually wondered if the heater could be on by accident. Of course a very good solution was just across the street so we were in the ocean often-which you would do anyway.

Close (a block or two) to beach access, and a short walk from the Hanalei pier and town, this location was wonderful for our family. One thing we noticed was there is a fair amount of traffic noise early in the morning which with a toddler sleeping was of concern. But the bedrooms have AC, so we closed bedroom windows which helped.

The home was clean in excellent shape. It is one of the best. Sounds of the ocean at night, walk to the beach at daylight. Little noisy with traffic- but that's minor compared to the at home feeling we had. The a/c works great in bedrooms and that was a haven for those extra hot days. WE used the screen on the patio to help deflect hot afternoon sun. The home has the ambience of a Hawaiian home! We would love to return to this spot!!! The town is a couple blocks away. It has beautiful landscape! Plus the view of the ocean, and the waterfalls on the backdrop of the mountains. We saw up to 6 waterfalls on one afternoon! Wow absolutely gorgeous! The beds were terrific! There wasn't anything we didn't like about the home or location! Thanks to the owners what a lovely home you shared with our little family!. Thank you to Kauai Vacation Rentals. They went above and beyond and even checked in on us a couple days in making sure everything was great!

Its was everything we hoped for! We rented two other houses near by also for our family reunion. The house is beautifully decorated and such a pleasure to be in. We will come back in two years to do it all over again.

Had everything we needed, was very nicely equipped with beach gear, kitchen necessities and I even didn’t have to worry about laundry/dish detergent which sounds silly but was very nice.

This home is lovely, but not perfect. The location right across the street from the bay is perfect. The home is clean and well cared for, the beds are comfortable and there's plenty of linens. The road (Weke) is right in front of the house and traffic noise is significant especially at sunrise and sunset when we most wanted to be outside. The a/c is only in the bedrooms and in Hanalei that would probably work for most of the year, but we had quite a hot streak during our visit and the main house was almost unbearably hot. We ended up just hanging out in the bedrooms in the evenings. A small, but irritating detail is that house doesn't have any sort of beach toys...they had chairs and an umbrella but no kid toys or boogie boards (which we've always had with other homes in this price range). I just hate buying more plastic then necessary on this island. The view is lovely, the town is walking distance and if not a heat wave, I would stay here again.

The ladies at the office were also so nice and accommodating and if we had any questions, they were quick to get us answers.

Great view from deck that does get a bit warm in afternoon. 5-10 minute walk to the main Hanalei intersection. All living space on second floor. 3 spacious bedrooms. Beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and cart. There is a companion house directly behind it on the same lot - we rented that for the rest of the family. A/C in the bedrooms, though the breeze was usually enough to cool it off.

The house is laid out very well, with all the necessary amenities. There is traffic on Weke Road but the house is well built and you can basically eliminate noise by closing the doors and windows if necessary. AC in all three bedrooms is a big plus are are the many fans (indoor and on the lanai). Lucy and Co. at Kauai Vacation Rentals are very professional and fabulous to work with. They run a top-notch operation and I recommend them without hesitation for a stay on Kauai.
