This tropical 3-bedroom, 3-bath artist-owned home is a perfect island getaway, just a block from both the beach and charming Hanalei Town. Enjoy easy access to restaurants, shops, and local activities that capture the heart of Kauai.

You're steps away from the famous Tahiti Nui, where you’ll find live music, hula, and dancing. Walk to weekly farmers markets, coffee cafés, fresh fish and sushi bars, yoga studios, and health food stores. Best of all, Hanalei Bay—often called the most beautiful beach in the world—is just around the corner, offering seasonal surfing, swimming, snorkeling, boating, and more. Our stay was excellent. Checking in was a breeze, the home was very clean and in working order. The location is great and very close to town. Our favorite part was the lanai that is elevated making it seem like your are in the canopy of the forest with lots of privacy. We would recommend this home for anyone's stay.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We chose Hanelai, Kauai as a family-of-11 destination as none of us had ever before visited the north shore of Kauai. The Bird's Nest rental was perfectly located as we could walk either to town or to the beach in just minutes. FYI, we rented another house to accommodate our large family just across the street. We especially loved the Bird's Nest's 2nd-floor deck views of the lush mountains to the west. When not out and about, we spent most of our time on the deck playing dominoes, reading, gathering for meals, etc...I would recommend that the owner clear the living room of some clutter, namely stacks of books. Afa as the upstairs kitchen, improvements needed include providing more flatware (we ran out of forks a lot), making sure the cooking utensils are in working order (we threw away a rusted lemon press; the can opener did not work; and we had to have the microwave replaced). I recommend giving the kitchen drawers a wipe down after each rental. We really loved having a 2nd refrigerator downstairs, given the size of our family and the fact that we cooked in most of the time. I would definitely recommend this property to a relative or friend. The property manager was very responsive whenever I reached out to her. Hanelai is a magical place...we will be back!

Very comfortable for our family of 4. We didn't use the 3rd bedroom - we'd anticipated our older child would sleep there but it really is a separate apartment quite detached from the main living space. The house was clean and quiet (those windows really block out the roosters!) and we loved the beach toys/boogie boards. The outdoor shower was a highlight for each of us! Thank you for the wonderful stay.

My son used the outside shower. You should check the ice maker. The ice it produces has a foul taste.

This is a charming "Old Hawaii" property with a convenient location that is walkable to the beach and to the town of Hanalei. It does sit on a very busy road that people take to the beach and there's always a lot of noisy traffic passing by. It is very spacious with a lot to offer a little younger crowd. We are all seniors and the steep stairs proved to be challenging for us. There are A LOT of them. My favorite part was the outdoor shower with hot water and a "Rain" shower head with a handheld option. I just loved it. The lanai is large and fabulous with a view of the mountains. The house definitely needs updating to get a five star rating. The blinds in the bedrooms need to be replaced, the bathtubs/showers are the originals from the mid-90's. It is fully air-conditioned, although the AC broke for a few days in the living area, and the west facing windows heated up the room quickly. They got it fixed right before we left. The garage door was a disaster. It's probably the original as well. The guys who came out to look at it said it should have been replaced many years ago. It didn't stop when I hit stop and came down on my brother's car, knocking the whole door off the rails. That happened the first day so it was not usable the two weeks we were there. They have lots of great stuff in the garage, inc. tons of swim toys, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and two bikes. We had a wonderful time and loved being able to easily walk into town. Very good property, but can only give it 4 stars.

I would give the home itself and the location 5 stars and would stay there again with my family. The reason for marking 4 stars Is because of some lack of communication from the property management company about a road closure. It ended up we could not make it to the house the first night, but they were fair and gave us credit for that night. Everything else was great. The house is comfortable and lovely, especially the combined living room - kitchen area and the porch (lana) with its spectacular views of the mountains (even better than comes across in pictures). This can be rented as 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, which was perfect for our group of 6. Note that one bedroom and bathroom is like a separate apartment (with its own kitchen) on the floor below. That made it perfect for parents who may want some privacy from other adults and older kids, but parents with small kids would want to consider how that would work for them, or this house can probably be rented as a two bedroom (those two are right across from each other on the upper floor where the kitchen, living room, and porch are.) I cannot say enough about how perfect the location is. It was just 3-4 blocks to walk to the beautiful beach or 1-2 short blocks to be in the middle of the cute town. That was incredibly convenient so that everyone in our party could be independent (family with teenagers/ young adults 15-23). We loved Hanalei and will be back, and we would rent this house again.

The location and lanai were the best parts of this property! I will say the cleanliness/newness of this house were not as expected. The photos make the house look brand new but certain rooms (especially the downstairs apartment) needed updating and cleaning. The closet door was broken which made it hard to organize clothes. Overall, the location and lanai made this house an enjoyable stay.

Hanalei is the perfect town for summer ocean adventures!! We started each day with coffee at the magnificent porch table watching rainbow after rainbow develop. We loved returning from a day of kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking to relax at the great elevated outdoor porch with a breathtaking view of the mountains. With a 3 min walk to town and a 8 min walk to beach we found the location to be amazing. We grilled grass-fed steaks or walked to town for dinner, and still had a sunset cocktail at the Bay. Perfect for 6 people to relax in comfort

Annie's Birds Nest is perfectly located between "downtown" Hanalei and beautiful Hanalei Bay. A large and practical house with a lovely lanai where we ended up eating all our meals. Our contacts at Oceanfront Realty were helpful with any questions we had, and even supplied us with additional information on activities, dining, etc. All in all a highly-recommended base for anyone wanting to visit paradise on the North Shore!

We stayed here for 9 nights with a large family group and it was wonderful. The house had plenty of space for 5 adults and our toddler son. The views from the deck were amazing and the outdoor shower was so nice for rinsing off after the beach. Great location as it's a short walk to shops, grocery, and beach. Besides the roosters it was nice and quiet and we slept well. Beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. The only con was the rental agency, which was not super hospitable or friendly. The garbage disposal upstairs and the fridge downstairs were both not working upon arrival and they sent someone two times, but nothing was repaired. We also had to wait over 2 hours after the designated check in time, to check in (with a 2 year old in tow this was an inconvenience). When I mentioned this and asked for a late check out they person on the phone was not flexible at all. Overall, it didn't detract from the lovely property and I would stay here again.

We spent a week here with our two teenage sons, a wonderful family get away. Perfect location in Hanalei. We utilized all of this house, from the outside lanai, to the down stairs apartment, and all the beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler, boogie boards, and they even tried to surf. The outdoor shower is great and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils. We did not find the beach towels in the dryer until we went to wash ours, but it was nice to know there were extras available. Highly recommend.

We loved this property. It was beautiful and clean, a real Hawaiian feel with the decor, had common family rooms both inside and out, very spacious. Beautiful views off the porch. We ate outside every night at the big dining table-- and the covered porch made this great even in the rain. Having boogie boards and plush beach towels, and being an quick walk both into town and to the beach, made this a perfect vacation home. We loved waking up to crowing roosters perched in the banana trees just outside our second level window. And the kids loved running around in the yard finding geckos. The outside shower was also a tropical dream! (and so convenient for washing off after the beach) Just wish the weather would have been better for a few more days!

Stayed at the bird's nest in May for a wedding and loved it! The location is great and the house has a good layout for multiple couples or a family. 3 full bathrooms! Check in/out was easy and we had no issues during our stay. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something in Hanalei.

There was plenty of room for all 6 of us, the house had everything we needed and the location was fantastic - quick walk to the beach and to town.

We loved our stay at the Bird's Nest! It was ideally situated, walking distance to both the beach and town/groceries in a neighborhood that houses a mix of residents and vacation rentals. The kitchen had most of the equipment we needed to cook Thanksgiving dinner, the house was clean and comfortable, and the cabinet of games and puzzles came in handy on rainy days. The second story lanai was a great place to wait out rainstorms, eat dinner, and enjoy the outdoors while being at home. Additionally, the managers were prompt with addressing an issue with the wifi, which was appreciated by those in our group that had to work while on vacation. All in all, this place made our vacation feel like a home away from home!

We stayed here in January 2016 for an island hopping trip from Oahu. It was an amazing place to get away for a week and enjoy the beauty of Kauai. Watching the waterfalls from the balcony in the morning was amazing and we could've spent an entire day lounging on the 2nd story deck. The outdoor shower may have been our favorite part of the house. Extremely private with bamboo walls and a huge shower head. Also was only a 3 minute walk to beautiful Hanalei bay. Overall amazing experience and we will definitely be back!

We had three in our party 80 years or older and the close proximity to town was a big plus.Property is well maintain with just two issues observed: The bottom tread on the stairs to front door is broken off on right ride. Making step uneven and awkward. Fine if you know its there--and remember! Second is there has been algy builkd up in drive way--when wet--its slippery like an ice rink - a good power wash is in order.Neither issue would keep us from returning.
