Beautiful, cosy but spacious cabin in a very scenic part of Donegal. We were able to use this as a base to travel all around Donegal.
Just a note to say that a car is necessary for this accommodation since the nearest shop is 20 minutes away. Not a bad thing however as we had so much peace in nature!

The lodge was warm and the welcome from the hosts was very good with the presentation of scones on arrival a nice touch. The views around the area are excellent and the lodge would suit hikers as a stopover.
The upcycling of furniture reflected the uniqueness of the lodge.
We decided to book for the tranquility, and privacy, which it could offer, if others were not staying in the barrel top wagon and had to use to adjoining bathroom.
The road to the lodge from the main road was long and tricky. it advertised that there was a washing machine and when we arrived we were told that it was being repaired though we did not see where it was plumbed. Understandably there is a water pump but it was not covered in and noisy.
The rain hitting the corrugated side roof woke us during the night, which did not matter as the beds were suitably uncomfortable. As there was a storm forecasted for the following night we decided not to stay another night.

It’s a magical experience to stay at Meadowsweet. We felt like we could have been a million miles away, it is breathtakingly beautiful inside and out. The hosts are fabulous people and made us feel so welcome, they make the experience that bit more special. We will be back with our children. It is so ideal for families, couples or lone travellers looking for ultimate peace and quiet. It really is a gem.

we loved everything. Marion and Declan were fabulous hosts and nothing was any trouble to them. They looked after us very well and even baked us some scones. we traveled with our 4 children. there was lots for them to do there was tons of games and space for them. my kids loved the quirky bunk beds and lights.

Service was over and beyond. The couple running the lodge were right next door and provided firewood, instruction on the appliances, and checked in on us when a storm took out our power. We were even given fresh scones the night we arrived! It was a great place to slow down and take in the nature around you away from the busyness of the cities. It was also nice to have a kitchen so we could save money by cooking our own food. A snug & cozy space.
Just a heads up, it's not a quick drive into town, so have plans for dinner whether it's driving out or cooking your first night. My wife and I enjoy doing things ourselves so it was great for us! But a bit of a surprise how DIY the stay would be based on the booking description. It's not a bad note, but be aware if you're expecting a typical hotel stay. The most accurate description would be found directly on the hosts' website.

A very cosy and comfortable lodge in a beautiful location. Would enjoy it even more in the Summer with better weather.
The heavy rain overnight made a lot of noise on the steel roof so sleep was disrupted.

Peaceful idyllic location to escape the busyness of life and enjoy the quietness of the countryside. Quaint and quirky. Well equipped for self catering.

Had the most amazing night with my husband will definitely be back soon to stay ☺️

Everything was there for self-catering and facilities like a washing machine etc that might be needed for a longer stay, but we were just there overnight. Directions by Marion were spot on.
Older people would just need to be a little bit careful of the steps inside.

Short but oh so sweet. I was at Meadowsweet Forest Lodge for just one night. No sunrise this morning but I got to have a beautiful walk through the forest in the fog. The Lodge was cosy and warm and the only noises were the birdsong, stream and ducks. Hopefully I'll get to stay here again soon.

The property is in the middle of nowhere, so it's very much secluded and very peaceful when staying here.
Marion and Declan are very kind hosts and very facilitating with whatever you need.
A lot of nature around, so great place to go for walks or runs in the morning.
Marion provides scones on the day of arrival which is a very nice touch.
There is no WiFi in the property, so if you would like to stay online this probably isn't the accommodation for you. Marion did provide a phone as a hot spot, however still the connection was very poor and not much use. Great place to stay if you want to check out from the world for a few days.
The shower had no pressure, so if you wanted to take a hot shower, all you would get is a drip of water. On the second morning, there was no hot water at all, so it was a cold shower for all of us staying.

This cabin was in such a magical place.Set in the middle of a forest in the hills. The drive up to it was so scenic. The accommodation was spacious and so comfortable & cosy. With everything you would need for cooking etc.Ducks wandered around the garden and the owners dogs were so friendly. We stayed with our 3 yr old and our dog and it was the ideal location for touring Donegal. The lack of internet & tv made it so relaxing. The hosts were so very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay off the beaten track.

This magical place that has been created here, is exactly what me and my 12year old son needed, we came here over Xmas 2020 and after the year we had we were just looking somewhere peaceful to escape the chaos of Christmas and this was more than perfect!! No problem was too big for Declan and Marion.. They are the kindest people I've encountered - constantly bringing wood/coal etc for the fire.. Which we including the dogs, adored huddling around and the firepit outside was a nice extra
Then we even got a mini concert with Marion and their talented daughter Fionna playing the fiddles which was a special touch along with the snow that we woke up to in such breath-taking surroundings.. We have had such an amazing time considering it could of been a very very miserable Xmas for us..
And just like many people before me.. We will be returning, in a different season-hopefully I'll have a car then and can explore even more!! Thank yous immensely for an unforgettable experience here in this beautiful scenery!! Love from Teri, Reece, Savannah, Buddha & Stellar(the three dogs bork bork bork) thank yous 😁🙏
I never leave reviews but this place deserves recognition!! What they have built themselves is just amazing.
I can't really answer this!!
We even booked afew bonus days to stay..
If there was any fault it would be so minor that could happen anywhere so nothing to do with the property- it really is an extraordinary little oasis!! Every thing you need for a perfect self catering break
Check it out yourself!!
