The Wonderly Wagon

A magical experience - and I'm aware that word can be overused. But it's entirely justified over the Wonderly Wagon. The location is quite remote (especially when you're touring Donegal on a bike as I was) but that was part of the attraction for me. It's a genuine gypsy caravan extended somewhat to give more space inside, beautifully fitted out with flowered wallpaper, little curtains, bed hangings, cushions, pottery, candles - and fairy lights! Declan and Marion are the appropriate hosts for this special property - unobtrusive, but happy to talk about the history of the caravan, their own family, their interest in traditional Irish music (Marion plays the fiddle). There are regular music 'sessions' in the back room of a pub/shop a few miles away, which sadly I missed by one day! Wish I had planned my itinerary to enable me to stay longer... And all the 'kitchen resources' work fine in the somewhat restricted space - kettle, one ring induction hob, fridge, toaster etc. On arrival one gets a freshly baked scone, butter and jam. Breakfast basket is well worth paying for. You get home made bread, a lovingly arranged selection of Irish cheeses, yogurt, fruit juice and a savoury pastry freshly made by Declan!

The most magical place I've ever stayed. The Wonderly Wagon was exactly what we needed, back to nature and more. On arrival we were met with the happiest pet ducks, just roaming around the garden.The wagon was so cozy, twinkling lights, fresh scones and totally chilled out vibe. The bed was comfortable and we cooked a lovely meal, everything you needed was provided. The bathroom was a tiny stroll opposite and everything was provided. We walked up towards the mountain and it was perfect. Woken up by sheep and ducks, what more do you need. Our breakfast was provided by our hosts and it was beautiful, the pastry with egg was divine and the sour dough bread, perfect. Thank you for the perfect magical night x

It was a one off opportunity to stay in a genuine gypsy caravan on a remote site.

The pathways could have been strimmed so that feet were kept dry. It rained a lot while I was there.

The place was clean, safe and welcoming. The owners are so friendly, myself and my daughter had a lovely stay. She played with the dogs around the property and was super happy.
