Fantastic would hesitate to book again!

So many things to love about this place, the cottage itself is so cosy, clean, has all facilities you could need, hot water, comfy beds, beautiful fire and fuel. The outdoor spaces were fantastic so quirky and fun, great to dander about with our dog. The views and surroundings were stunning. The info pack provided by our hosts was fantastic. Shops and lovely beaches just a short drive. The whole place has been very thoughtfully created, a lot of effort and interesting wee details just added to the experience.

A cosy cottage and peaceful retreat in nature

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at The Rockhouse. The cottage is beautifully and tastefully furnished, with everything you could possibly need provided. The wood-burning stove is wonderfully cosy, the games room is great and the setting made it a perfect retreat in nature. The location is ideal: easy to find, close to rugged beaches, viewpoints, and the peat bogs, and just a short drive from Dungloe town. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with welcoming, friendly, and helpful hosts, this is the place to be, whatever the weather!

Wonderful stay close to Dungloe in Donegal! Do not miss The Rockhouse!

We had the most wonderful few days at The Rockhouse. While we were blessed with the weather in Donegal that week, it would not have mattered in terms of our experience here. The outside grounds are a wonder! Yvonne and Michael have landscaped outside beautifully and it was joy. The house is wonderfully equipped to live in with Dungloe only a few km drive for shopping, pub grub etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at this property. It’s such a cosy cottage, located in a peaceful and tranquil setting. This property is a rare find especially when traveling with dogs.

We had such a Cosy & peaceful stay at the Rockhouse. The Hosts Yvonne & Michael were on hand if we needed them. Pictures don’t do the Cottage justice, it’s gorgeous inside. Grounds are also stunning with a stream running alongside the cottage, a perfect country escape.

Magical stay in rural thatched cottage

Fabulous stay, brilliant location, but a car is definitely needed. There is an e-car charging point at the property. The owners have done amazing work restoring and enhancing the property including creating a sustainable heat source with the pump and the insulation. We really appreciated the local wildlife, including a couple of visiting pheasants, the wood fire and provided logs and the in-house library. We even saw the northern lights, with the host messaging us to let us know to look for them. Such a magical, special place, can't wait to return.

So comfortable, the location is stunning, has absolutely everything you could possibly need. The beds were really comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and throws. We loved the cosy feel, the log burning fire and how peaceful the surroundings were. My daughter who is 12 loved it so much we have booked to come back again. The hosts Michael and yvonne made us feel so welcome. Its a 10 minute drive to the nearest supermarket and there are a good selection. Aldi, lidl and supervalue. We mostly cooked in the cottage and the kitchen was immaculate and had all the utensils and appliances we needed. The nearest beach is just 10 minutes away. We can't wait to come back again.

Authentic cottage in beautiful surroundings

Yvonne & Michael are lovely hosts. Very kind and welcoming 😀 They've done a wonderful job restoring the cottage with super insulation, solar panels and a heat pump! It's located in the middle of a gorgeous mature garden with useful out buildings. And the views of the bog are spectacular. The sea isn't nearby but you can drive or walk to it. The cottage is very confortable and well laid-out. Great WiFi, x3 Google nests, no TV but you can bring a smart TV or Chromecast to stream smoothly. Beautiful scenery all around with great scenic walks (bog, countryside, seaside, hill). The family loved the experience of living in an authentic thatched cottage for a week! What's not to like?!

Everything! Both Yvonne and Michael put their hearts into every detail indoor and outdoor. Their small cottage was exactly and more what we were looking for and fit perfectly into our family's needs. It was love from the first look inside the cottage and the outside did not disappoint us either. They have covered really everything with equipment and facilities we could possibly need as a family with children. We will definitely come back.
