This is going to be a little different as far as my Scotland reviews go...The hotel is 160 years old. There are some things that just can't be improved in such an old building. With that said, a little paint and new carpet would be great. But that is not the draw of this hotel. The rooms are small with the smallest TVs I have ever seen in a hotel. But no mind. The pub is the draw. Richard told us when we checked in to come down after we got settled. He introduced us to the pub staff, his wife (Becca), and other hotel guests (hi Bryan and Bridgette). We had an absolutely lovely evening. Drinking, eating dinner, and talking with everyone. That was an experience I would not trade for a bigger room.
New paint and carpet. I wouldn't think that would be too much to change, but it would help the overall vibe in the hotel. I would have like to stay a bit longer so we could explore the area.

Food was very good and the breakfast was nice. Staff were very good.
Room was very basic for the price. No TV and someone elses' clothes in the drawer in the corner.
