About this house rental
Privileged location north of the island of Oléron in Brée les Bains. The house is located in a dead end 1 minute from the beach. The 1200m2 tree-lined garden directly overlooks the sea. The uncrowded beach is ideal for children and families: fishing on foot at low tide, swimming and paddling at high tide!
The Brée daily market (in season) is 800 m on foot. No car: bikes are available.
Easy parking in the dead end.
After passing the gate, a first garden guides you to the house.
On the ground floor, an entrance, a large living room and an adjoining office, two bedrooms each with shower room and WC: the master bedroom overlooks the large garden and the sea (queen size bed). The guest bedroom opens onto the first garden (140 bed).
A dining room that seats 10 and an American kitchen overlook the main garden and the beach.
A bicycle storage room.
On the first floor, two bedrooms each equipped with two single beds (90x200) which can be joined to a large bed.
A bathroom with bath and shower.
A separate toilet.
Outside, a barbecue, a large dining table in wrought iron accommodates 10 people in a part of the garden "sol y sombra". Sun loungers.
The kitchen is fully equipped: multifunction oven, 4 electric hobs, microwave oven, dishwasher, large fridge freezer.
A cot is available for the little ones.

Great house. Plenty of space, with everything we needed. Great location. We hired bikes and cycled most of the island comfortably with a 6 Yr old. Plenty of restaurants within walking / cycling distance. Beach on doorstep, daily market 5 minutes walk.

Myself, my husband & our 2 boys (age 6 & 4) spent a wonderful week here in August. My parents joined us for 2 nights as well and the house was well-equipped & more than big enough for everyone.
The best thing about the house is without question the location. The back garden really does look directly out on to the beach & you’re therefore literally less than a minute from it. The beach itself is lovely - even at the height of the season it wasn’t too busy, and there was so much to explore with rock pooling etc when the tide was out. When the tide was in it was also a great swimming & sandcastle beach too.
The only thing that caught us a little off guard was that cleaning is not included in the price paid upfront, which is not something I’ve ever come across in the many other holiday homes I’ve rented. You could either choose to clean the property yourself (not something I wanted to do on holiday, particularly for a house of this size!), or could directly pay the cleaner a not insubstantial amount (70 euros) to do it for you. This was a little grating given that although the house was clean & tidy when we arrived, it was by no means immaculate & could probably do with some TLC & general maintenance. I really think it would be better to simply include the 70 euros for cleaning in the upfront cost...
Overall though, this is a great house in a spectacular beach location. Oléron itself was an beautiful place, but difficult to get around by car at high season because of the traffic. For us this wasn’t a huge issue as the holiday was all about the beach!
