We absolutely loved our stay; if we could give it six stars for location and view we would have! The cottage itself is exactly as listed with everything we needed and a lovely, cosy living room with fireplace and wonderful views. As described in the listing there is a short, relatively steep walk down to the cottage from the road which adds to a wonderful sense of peace and isolation. The garden is well kept and very pretty; a great place for a BBQ after a long day hiking.Communication was prompt and helpful.

Cottage was absolutely gorgeous. It is rustic and fitted our family’s needs to explore the North Wales countryside. Very comfortable. This place is unique and memorable. If you like to relax and breathe in the fresh air while watching the pristine countryside and visiting birds - this is the place for you. Love the Welsh folks - kind and friendly. All my favorite accommodation worldwide have been uniquely “different.” This is one that I add to my list.

Property was okay, although dated and tired. The access to the property was extremely difficult. No vehicular access to even drop off luggage. We weren't aware that the 100m was a VERY steep incline. Parking was also very tight. The cottage views were stunning overlooking Lake Padern and Mount Snowden

Nice property with best view of lake and mountains.Near the many attractions like lake railway, slate quarries, dolbadarn castle and popular snowdown railway.

We wanted somewhere quiet, secluded and far away from reality, this hit the spot perfectly! We weren't far from Llanberis where we had some great food and went on a beautiful walk to the castle. The cottage was well equipped and gave us the chance to feel properly nestled in the mountain. We used our time their to celebrate my partners birthday, and begin art projects we've been preparing for. We met a couple of others in Fachwen and they were so lovely and helpful! Make sure you take your pound coins, I'd say in the winter, to keep warm we needed around 15 worth at most, but we did have a decent fire on one of the days! We're hoping to come back in the spring or summer to experience it in full bloom!

A little tired in decoration but a lovely place to stay , great views and we loved watching the birds and squirrels in the garden.

Magnificent views from the cottage and a very beautiful location.
But the cottage itself could use an upgrade. The furniture is outdated and definitely not suitable for tall people. The bathroom is also a bit of a struggle with showering in the bath where the shower head was far below my shoulders. The toilet too does not offer a lot of space.
Otherwise, everything you need is there. Just make sure you have new pounds with you for the electricity.
You can park the car in a private car park just fine, then start a challenging road downhill. It's a pretty steep slope and especially uphill you'll need to put your fitness to good use.
However, you do get a beautiful view in return with lots of birds and squirrels in the garden. These seem tame and almost eat out of your hand (including the robin).
Communication with Rosalie was fine and everything was as indicated.
In short, had a great stay, although it does struggle for tall people (I am almost 2 metres tall).

Tremendous area and views from the cottage. Well kept garden surrounding the property, reallyspecial. But as you enter the place you have a stale not aired smell which didn't disappear on opening windows etc. The armchairs and house textiles needed cleaning for a fresher smell. The freezer wasn't particularly clean. The place is equipped with everything you need, the beds are comfortable but softly sprung. There are no towels or sheets provided and you pay for your electricity plus the descent from the parking to the house is about 120 yards but quite steep.
Communication with the host was late and only via SMS.
I think with more attention to cleanliness, this place is a gem!

We had a wonderful stay in this quaint little cottage. Even our grumpy teen who doesn’t like anyone or anything thoroughly enjoyed her stay and wants to return. The most beautiful views of Snowdon from the living room window. Homely little fire burning and keeping us all cosy. Just idyllic. My son also found Rosalie’s bird poem book and as a parrot owning family he had a good chuckle reading them. 100% we will be back.

A beautiful little cottage with wonderful views. Many happy memories sitting by the open fire. Lovely to read about the family history of the building too.
We WILL be returning!

Outstanding views, make sure you are fit to walk up and down to the cottage. Small lanes getting to the cottage, nervous drivers be aware. Totally worth it, such amazing views, cottage is 200 years old, so don't expect mod cons, felt good to be off grid. So relaxing.

Peace of mind, that's what the cottage gave us.
We had beautiful weather, and enjoyed the garden. Unfortunately I broke my wrist up on nantle ridge. But we were well treated in the hospital in Bangor.
Beautiful climb, by the way.

My husband and I just got back from a lovely 4 night stay. The cottage is very homely, the open fire was very appreciated in the evenings when the temperature dropped and waking up to the view of the lake and Snowdon was amazing, the best view of everywhere we visited! We were prepared for the cold, and took pound coins for the electric, we made use of the kitchen which was very well equipped and happy to say the water got nice and hot for a bath. The location is good with some nice walks nearby or visiting North Wales. Brace yourself for the walk up/down the drive - the view is worth it! A very special place, thank you Rosie

You can’t beat those views, sitting at the table or on the patio looking out across the lake and to the mountains…just stunning!
We stayed in April and we needed the fire on to keep the cottage dry..it’s an old mountain cottage so as expected. Beds were comfortable and warm. A lovely bolt hole for enjoying the mountain air and walking

4.0 / 10.0
Cottage was very charming and had most things that we needed. The coin operated electricity meter was a bit frustrating, the power cut out at least once every day. The walk to the car park is not far but the hill is VERY steep which makes it quite an effort to unload and pack car.
10.0 / 10.0
I was absolutely stunned when I found this accomodation. It really is the most incredible little place to stay if you are exploring the Snowdonia mountains. You can see Yr Wddyfa summit from the living room, twin room and garden! It's wonderful. Very quiet and Rosie has left everything you need as it is a stone cottage so does get cold. Remember pound coins as it has an older coin meter. Only attempt to drive down the lane to unload/load if you have experience as it is a very narrow lane not meant for modern cars (I live in a small fishing town with the same type of lanes so was no problem for me). But there's a dedicated parking space on the layby about a 4 minute walk up the lane. It is quite steep for anyone with mobility difficulties or if you are carrying heavy things on your own. Hopefully Rosie will be happy to have me back as I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when I go to visit my favourite place :-)

Unique cottage with stunning views
Comfortable cottage in secluded location - with stunning views of Snowdon.
The owner warns about the walk to / from the house and visitors will certainly have a cardio workout before getting to their cars - but we got used to it and it's a price worth paying for the fabulous location.
Canaerfon, Llanberis and the mountains are all quite easily accessible.

Good base for Snowdonia
Good base for Snowdonia
A simple, clean, reasonably-priced cottage, great for walking in Snowdonia and drying off in front of an open fire in the evening. Two thoughts. You need to go through the twin bedroom to get to the double bedroom, that won’t work for all groups. And the concrete path up to the car wouldn’t have worked for our relative with impaired mobility; it really is steep.

We've had a great time in the cottage - superb views of Llanberis and Snowdon, secluded location and a lovely fireplace - exactly what we were looking for.
Property as described, however, a coin meter for electricity is not mentioned in the description; we found it out from the reviews and also Rosie advised us about it later.
The bed was comfortable, the quilt warm, there was a shower/bath with hot water - after we've figured out how to turn the water heater on. :) The living/dining room has a huge window and on sunny days it was pretty warm inside (this was the middle of October) - the window is south-east facing. Otherwise, it did get a bit cold inside but electric heaters were available and Rosie provided us with some wood, kindling and coal for the fireplace, so we spent much less on electricity than expected. We bought more wood at the nearby petrol station.
The kitchen was fully equipped but we were not aware that the cutlery was limited (1 big spoon and 2 forks + some plastic forks) but we improvised a bit and all was fine.
Rosie always promptly responded to our questions, the cottage was clean (despite some reviews claiming otherwise).
Overall, the cottage met our expectations - it is in the village of Fachwen but it is quite secluded and there were no immediate neighbours. The steep track from the car park was worth it.
There was also a bonus not mentioned in the property description: apart from many other birds, the garden was inhabited by a cheeky robin who came to welcome us immediately after our arrival. He used to sit outside on the windowsill while we were having breakfast and on our departure day he hopped into the kitchen as if to say "bye" and then followed us to the gate! Cute :)

Lovely cottage with amazing views and log fire
We loved our stay here. The highlights are definitely the views and open fire. The road from the car to the house is very steep, as described, but our three year old walked up and down it without any problems, and I made it up and down daily despite being seven months pregnant. Highly recommended!

A wonderful cottage

Cwm Deiliog is a beautiful welcoming cottage full of charm, we felt so at home on arrival, cosy and inviting.
With all the amenities that you would want inside the cottage for your comfort, along with plenty of useful maps and routes of walks around the lake and mountains.
With the log fire going at night creating a cosy relaxing evening, even in June.
The views of the scenery and landscape from the cottage with the surrounding mountains down to the lake below and all around truly make you feel like you are in paradise.
With a meandering garden full of wonderment, the birds are a real joy to watch on the bird feeders, we sat there happily watching all the different varieties of birds visiting the garden, we could not of asked for a more wonderful place to take a holiday, the cottage is a peaceful haven to enjoy.
The area is an abundance to explore with walks a plenty around the mountains, lake and beyond.
We went kayaking on lake Padarn and you can go for a swim too,
there are plenty of places to picnic by the lake, kick back and relax and take in the views.
We are looking forward to returning to the cottage to stay again, thank you so very much Rosie for sharing your peaceful haven with us.

Lovely cottage and garden with stunning views of Snowdon.
We had a week at cwm deiliog. The house was clean and well equipped. The views were amazing and the location was perfectly peaceful yet not remote. A little slice of heaven and the place feels very loved. We didn’t want to leave. The walk up and down to the cottage was pretty steep but you got used to this. The lake was beautiful for swimming which we did lots of and their are walks from the house and further afield. Quite compact but cosy we really enjoyed our stay at cwm deiliog (leafy valley). Perfect for walking and relaxing and peace and quiet.
