About this house rental

Wonderful newly opened house completely renovated (19 th century dated), in the wide property ( a castle), with gardens and woods, the orangerie, and the chapel... very close to Tours, (less than 10 minutes drive) in the center of « Chateaux de la Loire » map (10 miles from Villandry, Amboise, Chenonceaux and Azay le Rideau, 15 from Loches). For 2 to 5 persons.

Well equipped kitchen, large living room with fire place, 2 bedrooms including a 'cathedral room', 2 bathrooms (shower and bath).2 toilets. Very nice decoration, charm and high confort.. Beds are ready when you arrive.
Indoor and outdoor games and toys available at the property . Property well secured for children.
Outdoor furniture for a nice time on the lawn. Also a special place carved in the stone for having breakfast, lunch or a tea, adminrign a large and beautiful landscape on surroundings and nature...
Close to the village and restaurants and shopping center; bicycle tracks, close from the house,, fishing, boat canoe cayak renting in the village.
Animals not admitted.
Troglodyte caves are a curiosity of the property also. Visit the Chapelle of the property, have nice walks in the woods...

A lot of nice places in the property to have a rest or take a tea after using the swimming pool (generally open and heated from mid june to mid september: sooner or later in the season , depending on the weather...)

A dream for children too who will have the opportunity to play in the park and in the woods, in all security (property completely closed). .

Also possible Promenade in an old british car...

Possible location for week-ends and half weeks: please, ask the owner

We had such a lovely time at The Fairy House. It is self-contained and quiet and really like being a fairy tale with a brilliant, beautiful and unique house built into the rock/cave on one side which, as well as being, fun and different, kept it cool in the summer. The pool was brilliant and easy to access and get into and the location was close to Tours, the Cher, the Loire and many, many, many Chateaux. The information at the property for things to do was great and we were able to cook, rest, recuperate and explore brilliantly from there. On top of all of that, we couldn’t hope for a kinder and better host than Marie-Noelle. She was friendly, knowledgable, kind and helpful and made us feel so welcome there for a holiday. We had the best time.

The Stay far exceeded our expectations. From the moment I booked it communication was prompt, friendly and clear. Great directions to the property.We were met at property by Marie-Noelle who gave us the tour of the property and many great tips of things to do in the area and an unexpected treat for us in the kitchen.The house was spotless and bright and airy - beautiful stone work, wooden spiral staircase leading up to the spacious bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floors each decorated thougthfullynote- the stairs may be difficult for those with mobility issues.Staying here felt like a step back in history. The house has everything you would need for cooking, laundry, and entertainment- with games and the TV.The porch and the heated pool were lovely.There is a path up and around the main house property which was great for a short work out and cool view. While the house was great what touched us most was how wonderful our host was. We are grateful to her for all her thougthfulness and help.

Our stay at Marie-Noëlle's was just perfect. We travelled with our two kids, aged 5 & 2, there was lots of beautiful outdoor space for them to play; plus the trampoline & all-weather pool which was more than we could have hoped for. She was so welcoming & had thought of everything for the kids - even a night light in their bedroom. A short car trip away, we could access everything we needed - boulangerie, supermarché, pharmacy etc. And we were a really short drive to the amazing city of Tours with all it has to offer. Marie-Noëlle helped us plan our time there - she let us know when the loacl food markets were, helped us organise a boat trip on Le Cher etc. Plus knew all the local things for kids: zoo, aquarium, mini-train etc. She even delivered us fresh pastries on our first morning! We had our own space plus designated outdoor area. It was a beautiful oasis of calm & it was a real wrench to leave after a week there. We would highly recommend & hope to return one day soon. Thank you, Marie-Noëlle!!!

As mentioned in other reviews the owners are very kind, friendly and helpful, fresh croissant and bread a welcome surprise some mornings. They are obviously very proud of the property and its renovations, but they are completely unaware of how their rental functions for a family. We found the property awkward and disjointed, cold and smelling of damp. The living room does not have enough space or comfy seats to relax in, the dining table is too large and dominates the room. The kitchen is small and basic, the kettle dangerously located on top of the fridge! There is no private outdoor space but a shared garden overlooked by the owners chateau, with the main driveway running through it. The pool is NOT private as listed but shared with other residents, and is a 150 meter walk away. The pool was not cleaned while we were there, with debris at the bottom. The stairs in the house are treacherous. Somewhere to hang clothes in the first floor bedroom would be useful, also the single bed in that room is not suitable to sleep on. Expensive for the accommodation provided.

We had a wonderful stay in this accommodation and would like to thank you very much. Not only was the house great, but the pool and beautiful surroundings made our holiday extra special. We would also like to emphasise the excellent location, which is perfect for excursions to the impressive châteaux on the Loire. However, what made our stay truly exceptional was the warm hospitality and helpfulness of the hosts, which went far beyond the great breakfast service. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend this accommodation. Many thanks for an unforgettable time!

My husband’s family is from Tours, and we come almost every year for a visit. This property is definitely one of our favorite that we have ever stayed in. Marie-Noëlle was a gracious host who made us feel very welcome. She was extremely welcoming to our young children who were presented with a pool, a trampoline, pedal cars, a croquet set, as well as other fun items to pass their time. There are two very standout features of this property, one being the location. It it truly less than 10 minutes outside of Tours, but the views change so completely that you feel transported to the countryside. Such an easy trip in and out of town let us be far more relaxed in our daily planning around groceries and meals out. The second feature that really stands this property apart is this sort of troglodyte terrace that can be used for meals, or for sipping wine and watching the sun set. The views of the property, and the surrounding fields from this terrace location feel a bit unreal. Our slow meals at “home” watching the changing colors of the sky were some of the most special of our trip. I will reiterate what other reviewers have said regarding the stairs, they are steep and skinny and I can imagine them being an issue for some visitors, but we were okay with them. We stayed for 10 days and are already looking forward to booking again the next summer we visit Tours.

Everything about this property is special. The cottage is wonderfully charming, one-of-kind and clean. The property is secure with a fence and driveway gate. Marie is the most welcoming hostess that we have experienced in more than two decades of renting homes! As mentioned in other reviews, the staircase of this home is narrow and steep. This was not a problem for us, but might be difficult for some. We hope to enjoy a longer visit at Marie's property in the future. Thank you, Marie, for everything!

I cannot stress how beautiful this house is! It is just wonderful. It is in the grounds of a wonderful chateau. The Gardens are immaculate. The owners are very nice people and are on hand to advise their guests on things to do and see around the area. We stayed as a family of 6 for one week and had a very pleasant stay!

The house & grounds are very sweet, charming & comfortable. Marie & her family are very kind and helpful, yet not overly involved. They even brought out a little tractor-cycle and a ball for our nephew to play with. She & her family are clearly very proud to talk about the history of Rochecave and they should be! It's amazing. The Loire valley has so much to offer as well. My only complaint is that I wish we could have stayed longer.

My husband and our three daughters spent a wonderful four nights in this sweet, amazing house. The children were enthralled by the character of the place, it truly seemed like a fairytale location. The top bedroom with it's high-beamed ceiling, charming oval window, and sweet hanging lanterns will always be something the girls remember. The beds and linens were extremely comfortable and very nice quality. The style is elegant and subdued. There are bathrooms on both levels where the bedrooms are. Marie-Noelle is the most gracious host ever! She greeted us warmly and gave us both a great tour of the expansive property but also many suggestions on local attractions. I would happily spend more time at her home! The location is great for visiting the chateau and other local sites. We were about 25 minutes away from several chateau. The site is part of a large estate but feels very private. We had problems or issues at all - only that we didn't have another two weeks to spend truly relaxing at this lovely home!!

The house is wonderfull and the owner (very kind and generous) gave us all the necessary support to make our stay unforgetable. My family and I loved the rich history of the place. Comfortable beds and all the necessary structure for an independent stay. We faced a initial problem with the hot water, promptly solved by the onwer. My wife and I, as well as our two children spent two weeks at this guest house and had a wonderful time. The home is unusual but enjoyable, with the upper floors something out of a fairytale. The children were enthralled from the moment they arrived. We spent our time travelling to the wonderful Chateaux in the area, and enjoying the beautiful countryside, restaurants and vineyards. The hostess went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, and this took it from a good trip to a wonderful trip. I think many would prefer to be in the Chateau itself, but it is wonderful to wake each morning to see the Chateau in the Loire sunshine is a memory we will always treasure.

Four of us (two couples) had a fabulous stay here. The private 'house' you see in the pictures is on a larger property owned by the host. Private but close enough if you need questions answered. Marie-Noelle was a fabulous host and quickly found answers to our trickiest questions. If you are a car nut then Phillipe may even take you out in his grand Daimler. It is near enough to Tours to be convenient but not too close. The various chateaux in the area are easy day trips. Great place to stay - but be aware that the bedrooms are up some narrow stairs. No issue to us but could be tricky for less capable people

We had a wonderful 10 day stay here with our four young children. The property is absolutely beautiful, with a huge front yard green area for the kids to run and play in, secure fenced woods above on the hill behind the property, and a wonderful large circular drive that the kids had a fantastic time on with scooters provided by Marie-Noelle. Whenever we were home, the kids were outside playing. The location is excellent, very central and close to four or five of the key chateaus in Loire Valley, with many more smaller attractions close by as well. We drove to Futuroscope one day as well, which the kids absolutely loved (we highly recommend it!), saw Chambord, Chenonchau, Cheverney, Azay-le-Rideau and Villandry, all within 10-45 minutes from the property. It's perfectly situated between Tours and Amboise with easy access to either. The house is set on three floors, with a large master on the second and a very large neat top floor bedroom with plenty of room for the four kids. There are nice clean bathrooms on each of the bedroom floors. The house is very clean and feels recently renovated, with nice hardwood floors upstairs and plenty of space. The kitchen and living room are on the ground floor. The river is just minutes away, and down a bit further toward Amboise is a canoe rental facility on the river-shore. The kids had a grand time canoeing from there down to Chenonchau Chateau, about a 90 minute round trip journey on the very easy and slow-moving Cher River for about 50 Euros for two canoes and 6 people. Wonderful river trip for any young kids comfortable around water. Marie-Noelle was a wonderful owner and took great care of us, dropping off occasional fresh baked breads and cheese and helping us with any questions. The property also has a nice indoor pool that the kids swam in, although not as much as they wanted since we were out exploring the area most days.

Rochecave est en soi « une invitation au voyage » . Le lieu est magnifique et chargé d’une belle histoire. Avec un grand parc, des activités pour les enfants ( dont une très belle piscine) il ravira les plus jeunes !! Une maison troglodyte décorée avec beaucoup de goût, une belle salle de bain, une salle de douche très fonctionnelle, 2 belles chambres avec une literie au top, une cuisine opérationnelle et bien pensée. Le tout d’une propreté à couper le souffle . Bref tout pour permettre aux voyageurs, visitant cette belle région, de se poser après des journées bien remplies tant culturelles que gastronomiques 🙂. Un grand merci à Marie Noël pour son accueil, sa disponibilité et ses attentions Tant vis à vis de nous que de notre petit garçon. Bref nous recommandons ce lieu magnifique où luxe, calme et volupté vous accueillent. Merci bcp. Nous reviendrons en famille !!!!

Quel beau séjour nous avons eu la chance de passer dans la propriété de Rochecave ! Le cadre superbe doublé d’une vue imprenable sur la vallée du Cher et la quiétude des lieux nous ont comblés. Nous n’oublions pas ce qui nous a également enchanté : L’accueil 5 étoiles de Marie-Noëlle qui, outre d’être charmante, est aux petits soins pour ses hôtes et toujours disponible. Le gîte est doté de tout le confort d’une maison familiale et même plus ! Nous avons passé un séjour formidable dans la propriété de Marie-Noëlle et sa famille. La maison est superbement décorée, et tout y a été pensé pour que nous ne manquions de rien. Le jardin est magnifique et bien entretenu... De superbes fleurs ! Nos enfants ont adoré jouer au trampoline et surtout avec les tracteurs à pédales :-) Il faisait bon se rafraîchir à la piscine quand il faisait 30 degrés dehors ! Mention spéciale pour la petite chapelle où nous avons pu renouveller nos voeux de mariage pour nos 15 ans d'Union. Et encore un grand merci à Marie-Noëlle qui nous a accueilli chaleureusement. Elle nous a donné de bons conseils de sorties et d'activités à faire dans la région, et nous a bien gaté aussi :-) Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !

Toute la famille a beaucoup apprécié cette location. Une maison originale avec beaucoup de charme, bien équipée et agencée avec goût. Nous avons été particulièrement sensibles à l’accueil et la gentillesse de la propriétaire. L’endroit est idéal pour visiter la région, il est central, tout est à proximité. Two adults and 2 10 year olds stayed her early summer 2018. Marie the owner is a wealth of information and could not be more accommodating. This unique guest house was very clean and well maintained - stocked with just the pots, pans etc. we needed. We toured many close by attractions - mostly castles, which proved the location of this house to be ideal. Our 10 year old girls loved the pool and used it every day. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking in the Loire Valley!

Wir haben zwei Wochen in diesem ganz besonderen Ferienhaus verbracht. Früher Teil eines Weingutes lässt das Haus heute trotz eines modernen Looks seine Vergangenheit durch die zum Teil erhaltenen alten Felswände erahnen. Die geschmackvolle Einrichtung, die sich von Möbel bis zum Geschirr bemerkbar macht, trägt den feinen Unterschrift der Vermieterin, die ihre Liebe für diesen Ort, Tradition und Geschichte authentisch und originell zum Ausdruck bringt. Die Auswahl an Büchern ist für Gäste, die des Französischen mächtig sind, eine echte Bereicherung. Es ist ein perfekter Ort für diejenige, die Eleganz und Einfachheit lieben. Die Räume sind sehr hell und großzügig, die Küche ist gut ausgerüstet, das Wasser ist sofort warm und die Betten sehr bequem. Der große Garten ist für Kinder ein wahres Paradies, wo sie frei laufen und spielen können. Für uns war das lange Frühstücken im Garten der perfekte Tagesbeginn. Es stehen auch Tischtennis, Fahrräder, sowie ein Swimmingpool zur Verfügung. Eine Auswahl an DVDs – für groß und klein -bietet eine kurzweilige Alternative für den Abend. Die Lage ist auch ideal für die Erkundung des Loire Tals mit ihren Schlössern, netten Kleinstädten und Dörfern und wilder Natur. Wenn man auch Städte liebt, ist man in Tours gut aufgehoben. Die alten Stadtvierteln, die Kathedrale Saint-Gatien aber auch die netten Cafés und Restaurants um Place Plumereau sowie die Shopping-Möglichkeiten machen Tours sehr attraktiv. Das studentische Flair gibt der Stadt zusätzlich eine sehr frische und lebendige Note. Einzigartig fanden wir die schicken neuen Straßenbahnen, die insbesondere unseren Sohn tiefst fasziniert haben. Les Halles –der zentrale Markt in Tours - war für uns eine besondere Attraktion: Eine großartige Auswahl an hochwertigen Lebensmittel und Verkäufer die die französische Vorliebe für das gute Essen in jedem kleinsten Detail zelebriert haben. Wir vermissen das sehr. Kanu-Fahrten und Fahrradtouren lassen Loire auf eine andere Art und Weise entdecken, die wir jedem ans Herz legen möchte Die Ufern mit deren wilden Vegetation und die Sandbänken voller Vögeln, die man aus dem Kanu sehr nah beobachten kann, machen solche Ausflüge außergewöhnlich. Unsere Vermieterin hat uns liebevoll betreut und uns sehr wertvolle Ratschläge gegeben. Sie hatte sofort das Gespür, was für uns interessant wäre. Rochecave ist ein sehr empfehlungswerter Ort für diejenigen, die Kultur, Natur, Wein und gutes Essen mit französischen Touch lieben.

Mein Mann und ich haben uns in diesem schönen und liebevoll ausgestatteten Ferienhaus sehr wohl gefühlt. Eine sehr gepflegte Unterkunft mit großzügigen Räumen, schöner Einrichtung und einer netten Vermieterin. Das Ferienhaus hat die Beschreibungen in der Anzeige noch weit übertroffen. Alles, was man braucht, ist da. Komfortabel und sehr angenehm. Ein idealer Standort, um Tours und die Umgebung mit dem Auto zu erkunden. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können dieses Ferienhaus bestens empfehlen.

“On ne boude pas notre plaisir !”. Et ces plaisirs sont contagieux… Voici une phrase de notre hôtesse qui définit parfaitement l’esprit qui règne en ces lieux. L’accueil est élégant et chaleureux. Une parenthèse qu’il faut s’offrir car la prestation est de qualité. Cette ancienne maison de gardien totalement rénovée réunit le confort moderne et les touches décoratives « chinées » ou faites main. Tout y est pensé pour notre confort. Les petites attentions des propriétaires participent à nous sentir réellement « accueillis ». C’est ce que nous venions chercher : un petit temps suspendu. On se trouve à mi chemin entre le gite et la location de maison individuelle, avec un respect de l’espace de chacun. Nous avons passé un séjour familial intergénérationnel (grand-mère, enfants et petits enfants) où chacun a pu trouver sa place. De grands espaces sécurisés pour les enfants, une tonnelle aménagée dans la roche en lieu de détente ou pour se retrouver aux repas, un bois à explorer… Le domaine est idéalement situé pour toutes les inspirations : route des châteaux, caves recommandées, adresses pour spécialités du terroir ou gastronomiques, « séjour vert » (vélo, balades). Tous les sens sont éveillés ! Tant pour l’adresse que pour la région : Une semaine c’est juste le temps de la « mise en bouche »…et pourtant déjà très riche.

“On ne boude pas notre plaisir !”. Et ces plaisirs sont contagieux… Voici une phrase de Mme G. qui définit parfaitement l’esprit qui règne en ces lieux. L’accueil est élégant et chaleureux. Une parenthèse qu’il faut s’offrir car la prestation est de qualité. Cette ancienne maison de gardien totalement rénovée réunit le confort moderne et les touches décoratives « chinées » ou faites main. Tout y est pensé pour notre confort. Les petites attentions des propriétaires participent à nous sentir réellement « accueillis ». C’est ce que nous venions chercher : un petit temps suspendu. On se trouve à mi chemin entre le gite et la location de maison individuelle, avec un respect de l’espace de chacun. Nous avons passé un séjour familial intergénérationnel (grand-mère, enfants et petits enfants) où chacun a pu trouver sa place. De grands espaces sécurisés pour les enfants, une tonnelle aménagée dans la roche en lieu de détente ou pour se retrouver aux repas, un bois à explorer… Le domaine est idéalement situé pour toutes les inspirations : route des châteaux, caves recommandées, adresses pour spécialités du terroir ou gastronomiques, « séjour vert » (vélo, balades). Tous les sens sont éveillés ! Tant pour l’adresse que pour la région : Une semaine c’est juste le temps de la « mise en bouche »…et pourtant déjà très riche.
