Beautiful stay with stunning location surrounded by dramatic scenery. Lovely pool area with beautiful flowers all around and some stunning hikes nearby. Food was great and staff, especially Lenny, were very welcoming and helpful.

Our stay was truly special. The staff were personable, helpful and incredibly kind. The hotel was beautiful and clean and accessible and located in a most spectacular part of the Paul Valley. The restaurant served simple but delicious meals. Drinking water was always readily available, and we were always offered a snack of fruits if we were headed out for a hike. The pool and deck were perfect for relaxation, and the accessible hiking routes were plentiful. We would definitely not miss staying here again next time we visit Santo Antao.

There is a cane processing mill next door that operates throughout the day (loud machine), and often there is some music rebounding from another building across the valley. The dogs are vocal at night and the cocks are up early. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. The din is not ignorable, but hugely outweighed by the general splendour of the surroundings and part of local life on this part of the island.

Food was amazing both dinner and breakfast. Location is unique with great views over Paul Valley, also good to start or finish some hikes. We recommend to do a hike from Cova to the hotel the very first day, another aluguer can drop off your luggage while you hike.

While the local staff was lovely, you could tell the owner was running a business. She was a bit harsh with hiking recommendations, when asked for further info on a hike - my partner and I had mobility restrictions due to previous injuries, her reply was "I'm not a doctor" and went away. Not as helpful as we would expect. Do NOT take the 45€ private transfer from Porto Novo to the hotel, it is easy and much cheaper to go by aluguer (public transport). Unless are very tight on time aluguer is a better option for excursions.

Beautiful setting and great location for hikes. Staff were friendly. Food was fantastic.

Unfortunately it was a very poor night's sleep the one night we were there. It was impossible to sleep because of the dance/rave music that was blaring. I don't know where it was coming from, or if it is a regular occurrence, but it was impossible to sleep until it ended at 2.30am. Which isn't great considering we were exhausted from hiking that day, and also had to get up early the next day for more hiking.
