About this villa rental

Villa Torricella is a restored 17th-century Tuscan villa located in the quiet village of Sillicano in the Garfagnana region, close to the historic market town of Castelnuovo. The property offers generous indoor and outdoor space for families and groups, with views across the valley and easy access to Lucca, Florence, Siena and Pisa. Sillicano is a peaceful village with very little traffic, making it suitable for children, and its traditional character creates an authentic setting for a Tuscan holiday.

The villa retains original architectural features, including terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and stone fireplaces, while providing the comfort needed for a relaxed stay. There are three sitting rooms, offering flexibility for groups, and a well-equipped kitchen adjoining a separate dining room. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spread across the house, giving guests privacy and space.

Outside, a covered veranda overlooks the valley and is furnished for relaxing or reading. The private 10x4m swimming pool sits within a fully fenced garden, making it appropriate for families with young children. The garden includes a BBQ, an outdoor dining area and several seating spaces for enjoying meals or evenings outdoors. Parking is available in the village car park, located approximately 30 seconds from the villa. Optional extra services, including grocery delivery, prepared meals, private chef evenings and a “Typical Italian Dinner,” can be arranged through Friends of Tuscany.

Authentic, well restored villa with plenty of character
Authentic, well restored villa with plenty of character
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful 15th Century Villa in Northern Tuscany. The outdoor pool was well used in the daytime and the open fire was lovely to sit around and chat in the evenings. The Villa was well furnished, with areas to congregate as a large group of 13 (in the dining room and around the pool on loungers) as well as plenty of alternative spaces including 2 balconies and seating areas indoors for smaller groupings and/or a bit of quiet time. The style is rustic and characterful and this building is very old so the sound does 'travel'; it's perfect if you're looking for a lovely authentic villa vacation in beautiful rural surroundings, however it's not the option to go for if five star luxury furnishings and 'mod cons' are your thing. The location is also worth noting - this is a perfect location for people who want to get away from tourist traps and experience the stunning natural beauty of the Tuscan Mountains and small local villages but it is fairly remote so be aware that you will need a car and a confident driver as the road in is very windy, with a few steep drops. It's not suitable for less able travellers as the car park is about 100m below the house and it's a very steep walk. The views are totally worth it though. The owner was very friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend staying here.

Absolute tranquility in an amazing propery

We loved the place - the décor is fantastic and the there was every thing we needed. The owners were great and very helpful. I would really recommend the villa. There were 8 of us and the whole experience was just brilliant. Can't wait to go again. The only negatives I have are the lack of parking and a bit of a steep hill from the public car park and secondly the price of electricity at €4 a unit (versus our home one of about 50c a unit) it was a hefty bill at the end of the week (€340).
