Witherslack Hall Farmhouse

Very interesting history for me, going back to 1400's original building in local area. Gorgeous countryside with lots of walking possibilities. Host was knowledgeable about the history of the farm and has refrained from modernising. Lots of atmosphere in the house and position behind Whitbarrow Scar, close to the southern Lake District. Certain understandable restrictions, such as no coffee/ tea in my room. A bit disappointing though, to not have much option about the availability of drinks, and no biscuits where they were. I was the only guest at the time which suited me but could have been otherwise if I'd wanted to meet other people.

Beautiful old farmhouse, very friendly hosts, amazing views. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely cooked breakfasts. Very dog friendly.

Breakfast was spot on , location was lovely & quiet with views of the mountain . Although it was out of the way , up a country lane , we found a great taxi firm (24/7) that picked us up & dropped off at exactly the time they were booked for.

Maybe a bit of music in the breakfast room , sharing a table with others diners was OK but a bit of background noise might be helpful

The farm was off the beaten path and away from the peak season crowds. It was peaceful and the staff was friendly.

It is a little misleading to say it is a farm. The equestrian “center” was closed which we didn’t find out until after I booked. The rooms were pretty dirty (cobwebs everywhere). Breakfast was extremely basic and the quality was not consistent. Dirty dishes were left in the dining area all day long more than once. The bathrooms didn’t have shelves or vanity space and there was no soap in the shower. All of the doors were self closing and were constantly being slammed unless you stood at the door to wait for it to reach the door frame to prevent the final slam. I looked through the pictures again before this review and never saw most of the photos on this booking profile.
