Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Times Square South

The location, the breakfast, and the availability of a water dispenser were a huge help, especially given today's high prices and the weak yen. Aside from an issue with the air conditioner, the room was clean; it met standards that would be considered perfectly acceptable by Japanese hygiene expectations.

The air conditioner in my room was leaking water; although I requested a repair, the leak was not fixed. The leaking water soaked the carpet and caused a foul odor. Since I only had one night left, I put up with it, but the smell was strong, and it was disappointing to have my slippers get wet. Incidentally, a technician repaired the air conditioner while we were out, and upon returning to the room, I found a small token gift of chocolates. I wish I had asked for a room change right from the start instead of requesting a repair. Also, as it is a high-rise hotel, the elevators get extremely crowded. You need to plan your movements to avoid peak times.

Location was a 5-10 minute walk from Penn Station so easy to get to and central to make way around city. Breakfast was great and easy to grab and fill you up before heading out. Staff on reception were brilliant. Special mention to the lady on night shift (sorry didnt get her name) Daughter had an incident and 'came on' and woke up at 4 in morning. She didnt have any pads and out of chance i went to the desk and asked if they had any and they had some in the drawer. Absolute lifesavers! Its the small details that matter. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Location was perfect. Checkin was simple

Rooms were tiny. Lifts were extremely slow and crowded once they did arrive. Was overcharged as well (no response yet).
