Location-wise, this is the best in Munduk really, and the garden they have is spectacular. The meals are good, but I remember my visit to Botanist, the property's resto, 18 months ago - the food tasted better then. Staff is nice, beds comfy, cuddly dogs
Value for money. It's basically a pretty expensive glamping. Had the prices been twice as low, I'd instantly become their ambassador.

Desa Eko was the most exceptional place where I have ever stayed in my life. I stayed in two different tents, and both were spotless, cozy, and beautifully cared for. The beds were truly comfortable, and the whole interior felt thoughtfully designed with deep respect for nature.
What made it even more special was the incredibly friendly staff, warm hosts who even knew my name, so I instantly felt at home. Waking up to green jungle mountains and breathtaking views was unreal, and the scenery kept changing throughout the day with clouds rolling in and soft rain sweeping through the landscape.
The lush green surroundings were a breath of fresh air, perfect for calming down and meditating with the pure sounds of nature. I also loved the yoga deck by the streaming water: such a peaceful place to rest, do your yoga practice, and simply listen to the calming sounds of the birds and the water.
The bathrooms were very clean, with fresh towels every day, which made everything feel extra comfortable. And the food—wow. The restaurant served excellent meals, with fresh juices and delicious healthy bowls that made me feel nourished and energized.
On top of it all, hiking in the area—especially the walk to the five waterfalls- made this place feel like a real treasure in nature. Desa Eko is a place made with love, and you can feel it in every detail, especially through the care and kindness of the staff.

The view is really amazing. The accommodation is located on a steep hill in the middle of the amazing green. The tent is super comfy, very good bed en again super nice view. Good food, amazing breakfast. The facilities are all super clean. Close by are the waterfalls, you can just walk down and there’s the waterfalls.

First things first: the views are breathtaking, but the location is terrible.
We booked the most expensive room (the “studio”) hoping for a bit more comfort after reading comments about the tents being too hot, noisy, and uncomfortable. Big mistake. The studio is located directly beneath the road, which means sleeping is almost impossible unless you enjoy the sound of hundreds of scooters and cars passing by all night.
The “room” isn’t even properly enclosed. There are a few walls, then a roof built several meters higher, and that’s it. You can literally see inside the toilet from the road or from the small path behind, which are both at the same height as the roof. As you can imagine, insects, noise, and dust all come in freely. I can handle bugs, but the constant noise made it unbearable.
Then comes their “famous” restaurant, The Botanist. Yes, it’s a beautiful space, but the team was unmotivated and inexperienced. Like many other reviews said, they were not friendly, and we didn’t feel welcome.
The worst part: the food. On our last night, we ordered just one pizza and one nasi goreng. With only two tables before us (4 and 2 people), it still took 40 minutes to arrive despite having around a dozen people working in the kitchen. When it finally came, the nasi goreng was overcooked and clearly spoiled. I ended up with gastroenteritis, confirmed by a blood test at a clinic the next day. I spent two full days in bed at the next hotel recovering, and between the room, food, and clinic costs, I lost around €750 and four days of my holiday all thanks to this overhyped, poorly run “eco” hotel.
To be fair, I have to mention the housekeeping team, who were the most friendly and attentive people we met there genuinely kind and hard-working. Sadly, they were the only human and warm touch in an otherwise disappointing stay, thanks Wahyu.
Please, don’t let your holidays be ruined by their good marketing and pretty photos.

The views, staff, food, restaurant, nature.
Just small thing : There was an extension cord with four sockets in the tent, two of which were connected to a lamp and a dehumidifier. Nothing else could be plugged in because these two plugs were too wide, so one had to be unplugged to charge the phone.

Desa Eko was an absolute dream for us: surrounded by stunning nature that wrapped us in peace and serenity. We truly enjoyed our time there. Staying in tents in the middle of the rainforest was a unique and unforgettable experience. Everyone was incredibly kind, and welcoming.
The restaurant was a bit pricy, but the setting made it worth it.

The location up in the hills of Munduk near four waterfalls was sublime.

The location is wonderful. The glamping experience was fantastic, too.
The service was excellent, but felt a little impersonal.

We loved the stunning views, the warm and welcoming staff, and the beautifully designed tent. Being from South Africa originally, we felt right at home - the thoughtful details and refined touches made the experience truly special. Perfectly located near the waterfalls, it's an ideal place to unwind and reconnect with nature.
The only aspect that didn’t quite resonate with us was the presence of certain spiritual elements. While this may appeal to some guests, as Christians, we found it a bit overwhelming at times.

We loved it! The location was right in the hills/mountains. Bed super comfy. More than enough space. We didn’t need a jumper. The bedding was warm enough. The view is amazing.
We arrived late 10pm, it took us about 2hours and 30min from the airport.
The night manager/security took us to our location. He explained everything about the lights etc.
The next day we went on a jungle tour. 9am till 2-ish with, Addi, I hope I spelled it right. He was brilliant. Super knowledgeable saw about 4 waterfalls all stunning. It wasn’t difficult. Saw the rice field and he took us to a picturesque restaurants with views over the valley. Delicious meal, nasi kuling with potato croquets.
In the evening we did a cooking class with Rico. Again, fab class. East to follow, fantastic food and she also explained the offering ritual.
Next day we rented a scooter and drove to the Brahma temple and the hot springs then to Lovina and back passed the 2 caldera lakes.
All was arranged by the accommodation.
All the staff behind the reception and who made us lunch and dinner. Thank you! Very kind and helpful with all my questions. Pre arrival info was very handy as well.
The gentlemen who carried our luggage up the steps. We thank you!!
I can recommend 100%

Location is fantastic middle of the nature .
Restaurant setting is great. But I am not so enthusiastic about the menu. It is very much healthy / vegan style oriented.

Desa Eko is a great concept and a wonderful experience. The beautifully designed accommodation and garden blend seamlessly into the surrounding jungle, offering stunning views. The on-site restaurant is excellent – delicious food and a great breakfast. Highly recommended!

Desa Eko is one of the most incredible places we have ever stayed! The location of the tent high above the tree tops of the jungle and the view is outstanding. The whole vibe of the place is tranquil and relaxing, within walking distance to stunning waterfalls. The facilities are great for a glamping type stay and the food is unreal, honestly would recommend this place to everyone! Thank you for such a wonderful stay, we only stayed one night and wish we stayed more!

Amazing glamping facility with two very clean shared bathrooms and an excellent restaurant. The main area, composed in reception, kitchen and restaurant, is a beautiful open-air wooden structure where you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner with an amazing view of the forest. The room is basically the tent on the platform with the forest view, the feeling is to be truly inside the nature. Walking down from the hotel you can reach the river with the yoga platform, then you can start the beautiful waterfall trekking.
Too much humidity in the tent.

An awsome experience, being in the jungle so close to the waterfalls is Magic. The restaurant Botanic is delicious. The hiking through the valley is a must do.
Just two recommendations: first, to cover partly the Yoga Deck ( beautiful by the way) so that we can practice even with the rain and second, have dryers and hair dryers for the clients as there is no way to dry and warm Up after a super hike under the rain.

I really liked that the hotel was in the nature and you could trek to waterfalls within 15 minutes.
The description on booking.com (room types) does not match with the actual room types. I booked a Deluxe Studio but in fact the hotel has Deluxe Tents or a Studio. I chose Deluxe Studio (on booking.com) because I wanted to have a private bathroom - but this room type does not have it. Even it was mention here. For an upgrade to a private bathroom what I actually booked I should have paid again 50 Euros... :-(
The restautant had really good food and for a good price.

Wow, this was such a special stay. You have the most beautiful views at the hotel, it really is a once in a lifetime experience. It is super clean and also really cosy because you only have a few other hotel rooms. The bathroom facilities are super clean and comfortable, you have enough that you don't have to wait with sharing the bathroom facilities.
The location is beautiful but you don't have any facilities close by if you would like to do something at night.

Very relaxing surroundings. The personel was amazing and helpful. Helped us with everything. Tents were beautifully furnished and comfortable. Breakfast were not only delicious but pleasure for the eyes too. Definitely will come back.
There is nothing we didn’t enjoy.

Absolutely wonderful. Excellent yoga deck by the creek, and you can walk from your tent straight through the jungle to the 4 waterfalls. Such a great ‘unplugged’ day. Highly recommend.

Looking at the stars at night was magical. The Botanist restaurant is fab and it's handy to have such good food available on site. The Wi-Fi in the tents was very strong. I expected to only have Wi-Fi in the restaurant/lobby but ironically the tents had better Wi-Fi than any business class hotel I've stayed at during my two months in Indonesia. The grounds are very pretty. The beds and pillows were comfy. There was hot water in the shower, though not the sink. They give you a big bottle of water and a light in your tent and you can ask for an extra blanket and a flashlight. As a plus, many rooms I've stayed in on Bali are heavily offgassing or moldy. Tents have the advantage of outdoor air.
You have to ask yourself why you want to stay in a tent when you can get a cabin with a balcony with a view of the waterfalls and a private jacuzzi tub for 50% less money. Maybe you're a dedicated camper. Maybe you just want to check it out. Whatever your reason, you will want to know what it is because it's freezing at night (in August) and absolutely sweltering by 8:30 am. The tents are so hot and there is no fan or anywhere to sit in the shade. I thought there were yoga classes, but there aren't any classes offered onsite anymore. The yoga deck is not maintained. It is completely neglected and you'd have to ask for a broom to sweep it to do yoga yourself there. That's too bad because without yoga and without some orientation to the place, the labd, the farm, it just seemed odd to stay there. There's no community vibe or encouragement to interact with others. For me to want to pay more to stay in a tent then a well appointed cottage, I'd need for them to offer daily classes. Yoga or dance, a daily walk around the farm and explanation of the place, nightly events in the cafe (because it's really too dangerous to drive those roads after dark). They could have a trivia night, game night, movie night, star gazing, something. As is, it just seems odd to be staying in a tent there. The tents are close to the road so there's a lot of street noise. You also hear your fellow tenters and whatever music or videos they loudly play with their good Wi-Fi. I did not sleep well. There's also farm activity going on from about 7 am and roosters from about 3 am and barking dogs all though the night. The property is named for a dog, Eko. He has the run of the cafe, which is cute, but all the pillows and cushy chairs have his hair all over it. The other bummer is that people smoke everywhere. Everywhere. In the restaurant. In the bathrooms. Adjacent to my tent. On the stairs.

Everything! Stunning views, chilled vibe and excellent food. Such an amazing concept, vegetables are grown on site and everything is driven by sustainability. We stayed in one of the ‘double rooms’ and the tent was lovely, with a proper bed, electric and beanbags- perfect! About a ten minute walk from a waterfall (would recommend doing the walk to all 4 in the local area). Plus Sekumpul and Fiji waterfalls if you have time - the best in Bali!
We didn’t mind all of the steps but this should be factored in - lots of steep walking required.

The place it’s super beautiful, quiet and walking distance from the waterfalls.
There is a yoga deck and the food it’s very good.
Maybe the bed sheets could be more clean,i saw few spots on them but overall the cleanliness was ok.
Just remember to bring warm clothes to sleep with because at night really gets cold.

I absolutely loved staying at Ekommunit and will definitely come back in the future. Great spot to disconnect and recharge in nature. The food at the restaurant is also very good, although a bit pricey. There is a great trekking route to the waterfalls from the community.

The room, staff and whole place is simply amazing. For a room of that size we had everything we needed. Was lovely to have small touches like everything to drink a hot tea or a wine and we even had free herbal teas from them!
The view and location is beautiful and the food at the resto is also really good!
Everything was really nice, the bathroom are shared with the other rooms but they are very clean and very comfy.

The studio room was stunning with a great view.
It’s in nature but for my taste there were too many spiders (big huntsmen spiders!), cockroaches and other insects.

The location is great. We stayed in the studio which was very close to the restaurant. The staff is super friendly and helped us with getting a driver to do some activities several times!
Since the studio is open it can get very cold at night, so bring a sweater! The breakfast options for guests is very limited in comparison to the menu for restaurant guests, which was a little bit disappointing for us. The breakfast was very nice, just not very extensive..

Very cozy studio. If you want to take a break from people, this is the perfect place.
