Well appointed. There was everything we needed for a short break.
It was difficult to find anywhere open to eat either the Sunday or Monday. We had to drive to Dorchester some 9 miles away.

Lovely location, lovely cottage and garden and friendly host + dog.
TV set up took rather a long time to get our heads round even with the info given.
Main bedroom/ ensuite did get a bit of traffic noise at times, but just pulled the windows to, not really an issue for us as we live on a main road, so are used to it.

Comfortable & excellent position.
Never managed to operate gas hob ! But not a big dead for us. Property situated on a noisy road.

The cake that was left for us, along with preserves, milk and butter coffee tea and sugar most appreciated after a long drive. The welcome was warm and friendly by Lucy and delilah. And the ambience of the log fire on an evening was delightful
The whole place was perfect

Quiet location but close to some great places of interest (Sculpture Park, Cerne Abbas, Jurassic Coast). Cottage was spotless and the beds were very comfortable.

A very distressing experience. From the health and safety point of view, there was no illumination or signage and the instructions how to collect the keys were unclear and confusing to the point that we ended up not being able to gain access and, therefore, not being able to stay there for the night that we had paid for. We were obliged to find alternative accommodation having left two phone messages with the host's contact mobile phone and not receiving a reply from them! It is only fair to request for a refund.

Dirty, chipped and dirty crockery, sofa had multiple stains. No mattress protectors, dirty windows which didn’t close / lock.

We loved the peace and quiet and the very pretty location.
On the bookings.com itinerary, it stated there was shampoo and conditioner, and we didn't see any. A couple of the dining chairs were a little rickety.

The cottage was really warm and comfortable. We experience rain and stormy weather and were able to dry clothes and shoes quickly and get warm and cosy by the log fire. We liked that the master bedroom had an ensuitem and the kid's room was very comfortable too. Toy box kept the kids entertained.
Wi-Fi coverage upstairs was poor. One of the windows in the twin bedroom was not possible to lock.

Beautiful Cottage, very comfortable and clean. Luci the owner was very helpful and accommodating.
Very Pretty Cottage that is a conversion annexed to the main house. Perfect for a quiet weekend next to the wood burner.
The bedrooms were very nice & the beds were very comfy. The comfortable sofas in the lounge. Bathroom facilities were excellent.

Quaint cottage in a good location. Nice area outside to sit in the morning sun before heading out for the day. Double bed soft but very comfortable.
Some of the crockery (mugs) chipped which was a bit unpleasant to drink from and the sofa and cushions had a slightly unpleasant odour.

Set in nice grounds, upstairs was very clean.
Personally I thought it was very expensive for the standard you get. Downstairs area and pool area look a little tired and dated.

Loved the pool, the resident dog, our mattress and the location.
Some bigger plates would have been good.

The bedrooms were very nice & the beds were very comfy. The swimming pool & gardens. The comfortable sofas in the lounge. Bathroom facilities were excellent.
The info about local pub & restaurant facilities was out of date & misleading. We were unable to find anywhere in the locality to have a meal on the Sunday night of our arrival & if we had known this we could have brought food with us.

Lovely, cozy and quiet property.
Minor things that didn’t affect our enjoyment of the stay overall. The microwave did not work and there was no iron or ironing board. There were also no dishwasher tablets.

Lovely cottage, nice little village. Good location.Friendly owner. Mostly very good information re the property.comfortable and quiet.
.Minor things. No extra garbage bags or specific info re putting out bins. Not enough specific info re which pipes needed to be refilled and how if using pool. A bowl in the kitchen sink would help avoid unecessary splashing and wasting water.

Lovely conversion annexed to the main house. Perfect for a quiet weekend next to the wood burner. The New Inn in Cerne Abbas provides a nice lunch/dinner. Thoughtful owner with good communications. Underfloor heating in the ensuite was very welcome on a chilly morning.
Nothing!

Homely, comfortable interior. We visited in October and only for 2 nights so didn’t have the chance to explore the area but loved the comfort of the cottage and the Woodburner.
Would have loved the matches to be a bit more visible as took me half and hour to find them!

A lovely quiet location in the small village of Piddletrenthide. Part of the owners house but totally private the cottage was cosy and quirky. We loved the wood burner for the cooler evenings and the fact you could help yourself to wood from the owner’s wood store. The grounds were very pretty and I imagine the pool is great to use in the Summer as the area it was in was secluded and very Mediterranean in feel. The kitchen was very small but well equipped. The 2 bathrooms were spacious and warm. We would recommend the Thimble Inn in the neighbouring village for its friendliness and great food. Very kind to leave a Dorset apple cake and fresh milk.
For 3 nights and four adults it was perfect.

There were a few items of maintenance and re crockery cutlery etc that needed addressing .To be honest one needed to live in the property to really notice most of these .We addressed them with te owner who accepted our comments gratefully and was addressing them .This is all that can be asked , it not having a problem that matters it is how a problem managed that is important and we were pleased with response

Brilliant location in the Dorset Downs. Lovely character property with modern conveniences. Large mature garden with a trampoline and a slide which entertained my toddler. We liked the happy little dog too.
There was nothing worth moaning about.

Nice location and comfortable property. Would have been really pleased with our stay if we had not been let down by the owner.
Owner was disorganised. She forgot that we had arranged with her in writing to have a late check-out. As such, we had to race to vacate the property as the next guests were due to arrive. Our booking was based on the owner agreeing to a late check-out and as such our holiday was cut short and plans for the day were ruined. She said that she would arrange a small refund for the inconvenience but she still hasn’t done this or contacted us to explain why we are still waiting.

Great Information pack with everything we needed for days/nights out. Beautiful house and surrounding countryside. Stunning garden with a lovely pool.
It was all fabulous, just a couple of small things - sofas not clean and one mattress in twin room was too hard

Such a beautiful cottage to relax in an idyllic setting. There were so many places on the nearby coast and area to explore. But the cottage was also cosy and comfortable to just be in on a couple of rainy afternoons and to listen to the birdsong outside.
Lucy was great and provided helpful information on how to locate West Cottage, it was completely Covid safe and the local maps were useful for us to plan walks around Piddletrenthide and neighbouring villages. The milk, orange juice and fresh bread were really welcoming touches and the cottage is beautifully decorated and furnished. Everything you need for a special break has been thought through.
There are lots of public footpaths close by and we also enjoyed visiting: Tolpuddle (following the village audio trail from the museum); The Walled Garden at Moreton and Lawrence of Arabia's grave; the National Trust beaches and South West Coast path walks at Hive, Cogden and from Osmington Mills; Abbotsbury Swannery (cuteness overload seeing scores of cygnets); Lytes Cary Manor; Sherborne; Dorchester and Cerne Abbas village/giant.
We would highly recommend West Cottage to our family and friends and anyone who loves a beautiful village setting which is also a perfect base for exploring beautiful Dorset.
