Good hotel w/ some flaws

Great location, fair parking pricing (garage opposite the hotel), spacious room, big bathroom

Extremely loud (inside and outside); I assume because the hotel bar is super close to the rooms, family room has a second floor via stairs (I would not recommend for smaller children)

Very luxurious feeling!

It's very close to the train station, which is how we got into town and across the street from the Children's museum we planned to visit. We were directed to an excellent restaurant to try and allowed to store our luggage after checkout until we were ready to leave. They also make their own gin and liquor.

The breakfast menu was very limited with very small serving sizes and the restaurant is closed on Sundays.

Overpriced

The reception staff were terrific. Very friendly and wonderfully helpful. The room was nicely decorated.

The entrance is in a rather scuzzy area between two McDonald’s restaurants. It’s very expensive. Our so-called superior room with courtyard view had one small window that overlooked a lightless, grim interior well. The sticking and restocking of the room was haphazard, with insufficient teas and coffees and bath mat not being replaced.

Good for a sleepover while travelling

Comfortable and clean - easy for a quick one night stay on our travels

We parked across the road which was no problem, with a discount - great! We had the parking validated on check out and then were expected to go back to reception on the first floor to return the card after we had collected the car - ridiculous! There is no where to wait outside - why not have a box in the entrance

Great location with generous sized rooms. Can’t comment on the food as we ate out. Helpful staff who advised us of the key places to visit.

Scary but nice inside

I looks scary bad from the outside with McDonalds on both sides, dirty looking but inside it’s a grand old hotel. Rooms were very nice, large and refurbished. Dining room very nice, good breakfast and it is close to everything. No parking if you have a call not even a space for you to pull up for a couple of minutes so do as all Italians do… just double park or very close to the parked cars. Staff will help with bags. All in all nice place don’t let the outside looks deceive you

Great location close to the port, very, very friendly staff but noisy room

The location next to the old port is very nice and convenient. However the noise level is very high as the hotel is next to a busy street. The entrance of the hotel is not very friendly as it can be hardly recognized that its a hotel but rather a office building. The staff is very, very friendly and helpful and improved the overall experience.

Noisy room, also the first impression of the hotel is not very positive when you arrive.

Good hotel in Genoa

Hotel is right across the port in Genoa, parking garage also across the street. The hotel has a few floors in a historic building with beautiful marble staircase. Room was very spacious. Smart breakfast, basic options available in the room and heartier options can be ordered a la carte. Staff was friendly. From the hotel you can reach most attractions, shops and restaurants on foot.

The room was a bit damp and noisy.

Nice hotel in a noisy area

The room was large and clean. The bathroom was particularly spacious with a large walk-in shower. The staff were very kind and helpful.

The hotel is overlooking the very chaotic port of Genova as well as the raised expressway, it is too loud to ever open the window. The area also doesn't feel very safe at night, but it might be useful for travellers catching a ferry from the port. Although it is indicated that there is parking, it turned out that was not connected to the hotel, they just have an arrangement with a parking garage a few hundred meters farther. Breakfast was very sparse, a few cooked items but no fresh fruit or juice, it was mostly a selection of biscuits.

A very comfortable stay in Genova!

Very large rooms with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. The breakfast menu was decent and the staff were nice. The room temperature was also perfect for sleeping due to a good climate control system.

Only thing worth noting is that the area immediately next to the hotel is not so great. I would stay there again because the location is very central and it is easy to get to from the station and a short walk to all the main sites. You just need to keep your wits about you.

The front desk staff was rude.

Location and breakfast was great.

The front desk staff, "Ford" was rude and condescending. It was quite apparent that he had a problem with Caucasian women foreigners. My husband and I will never stay at this hotel again because of the staff. I have never been so disrespected.

A hotel so close to the things we wanted to do.

The property was spacious, and the room was very comfortable. Also the breakfast in the morning was delicious. The staff were very helpful. Thank you so much for the staff’s assistance to get all our laundry done. That was a huge help for us.

All staff immensely helpful & friendly. Freshly cooked breakfast made to order is an absolute bonus & fresh coffee too! Lovely rooms, spacious & clean - great rainfall shower with traditional option & comfy bed. Hotel De Ville is well placed to access all of Genoa’s delights. I highly recommend a stay here!!

Genoa is a large working port and so don’t expect glamour in the hotel’s immediate street. Our rooms looked down on to a small courtyard which looked very unloved. I feel this is a missed opportunity of the hotel’s as all it needed is a jet wash & some potted trees/plants/central statue to turn it into a wow factor place to look down on, rather than one to close one’s curtains on.

Hotel located around the corner from the old town, close to cafes and restaurants

The room we stayed in overlooked an internal courtyard, but looked across at other rooms, so there was little privacy unless you kept curtains drawn

Exceptional

The room was gigantic!!!! It was clean and very well appointed. Shower was big as well. Ford at the front desk was fantastic with recommendations on what to see and where to eat. We have some amazing fociccia based on his recommendation.

It's in what we felt somewhat of a shady, dicey area.
