SMARTY Airport Cologne Hotel - KONTAKTLOSER SELF CHECK-IN

Free parking was ok.

There was a terrible meal smell at the hotel on first night, probably someone cooked and the smell was tertible. There was no curtain in bathroom and everywhere was wet in the barhroom.

After 10-hour drive from Spain and refusal to check-in at the paid and reserved hotel in Saarbrücken, this hotel was a real life-saver. They immediately sent us the code for self check-in and we stayed overnight to survive the nightmare. So it’s a must-stay hotel in Cologne 👌

It was affordable and close to the airport.

The room was very hot and while we did open the window there wasn't enough circulation.

Breakfast was good value. Takeaway restaurants in walking distance. 15 EU taxi ride to airport.

Check-in was an issue. Everything is digital and despite getting to many emails from the hotel non had the link to open main door/ room door. Luckily the reception was still manned but it still took 10 minutes to actually get the email with correct link as you do need this to get to open any door. Make sure your phone is charged and that you have data! The room had a "general trendy look" but it's not a modern new building as it appears on the website. Rather small and cramp, light switches in very odd places No elevator - difficult to get to 1st floor if you have a suitcase.
