Mont Angelis was an absolute standout during our three-week trip through South Africa.

From the moment we arrived, the setting took our breath away. The views, the atmosphere, and the charm of staying on a farm in the heart of Stellenbosch made it feel truly special and unlike anywhere else we stayed. It was the kind of place where you slow down, breathe deeply, and just appreciate where you are. The accommodation itself was beautifully appointed and immaculately maintained. Everything felt thoughtful and considered, and it was clear that real care goes into the guest experience here. That small note aside, Mont Angelis was genuinely one of the highlights of our entire trip. We left already talking about coming back. Highly, highly recommended — don't hesitate to book.

The only minor thing worth mentioning — and it really is minor given the context — is that the outdoor seating area attracted quite a few ants and insects. As a working farm surrounded by nature, this is entirely understandable, and future guests might want to bring insect repellent for evenings outside. My girlfriend did pick up a few sandfly bites, so a heads-up to sensitive skin types to come prepared!

It was okay, lovely big bed but apart from that I can't recommend it to my friends

Not enough blanking out of sun in the evening and morning. No tissues, the glass doors were dirty, No water in the rooms to drink, it was not explained that it was self catering . The distance where we were staying to where we having dinner was not correct according to booking.com. It took 20 minutes instead of what we expected which was 1.7 kms according to booking.com.

Lovely location and well appointed rooms with lovely decor. Comfortable furnishings and just needs a little more attention to make it a must-stay.

Communication. I sent a message and some of my questions were addressed. Then a second message and it was never answered. On the day of arrival, we tried calling and left voicemails, nobody picked up. We arrived and had no directions about how to check-in. There is no reception, and no indication prior to arriving of how one checks in at all. We eventually had a guest climb out of the pool to go back to there unit to get their phone to provide a cell number for the manageress, so we could get in. Incidentally, the guest who helped also said they had to wander around and there wasn't any clear way to check in. This needs to be addressed. I would strongly suggest picking up the phone and answering emails/booking.com messages and well ahead of time explain how to locate your unit and the access as well as the key etc... Standard practice should the wish be no human involvement. Please also provide a dishcloth and rag or two in the kitchen, there was nothing. There is no TV (this was in the ad) and the WIFI rejected the password provided. Only the 5G option worked and it was sketchy connectivity/poor. Also, we could hear our neighbors conversations through the walls, so not the best from a sound insulation point of view and they weren't being loud. The one side table had a lamp but wasn't plugged into a socket and there was no electric point that side, so basically just a fake lamp stand, which was irritating. Bathroom is very cramped and no way to use the extractor fan?

Our room did not have a private bathroom (it is not an ensuite), the bathroom is in the corner of the bedroom, so no privacy and a frosted shower door separating the toilet from the actual bedroom. Hard beds, hard pillows, missing the small touches (no slippers / gown / shower caps / or usual vanity amenities). The lounge area is lovely & well appointed but the sleeping / bathroom area is a little basic.

The manager went out of her way to take us into town when the Uber did not respond in time. Fully equipped cottage for self catering, huge room and bathroom, with open plan sitting room with fireplace. on deck a weber braai. Free bottle of wine, firewood, Blitz, milk and coffee.
