Our cozy open floor plan with 2 bedroom, 2 bath log cabin with a loft offers room for the family or friends to spread out while enjoying the mountainous view overlooking Watauga Lake.

Rental Policies:
-Pet Friendly with paid PET FEE: one small well-behaved, housebroken dog without fleas or ticks are welcome; clean up after your pet outside; dog must be leashed when outside and crated if left unattended in the cabin - reach out if you are desiring to add an additional small dog. There is a non-refundable pet fee for one dog. No other pets are permitted.
-Kid Friendly: kids are welcome at the lake cabin, but must be accompanied by adults outside at all times due to heights and steepness
-Minimum Age Limit for Renters: 25 years old - no exceptions
-Fire Pit - please use at your own risk. Firewood is additional cost and can be provided when available. Please reach out for pricing.
-The fireplace gas has not been turned on since the weather has been unseasonable warm. -Smoking: Not allowed inside Lake Cabin (smoke outside & enjoy the scenic view)
-Parking lot camera - no indoor camera.
-Early Arrivals: depending on turnover and other scheduled visits, we will do our best to accommodate - noon check-ins will result in a $75 fee due to expediting turnover services.
-Late check-outs: depending on turnover and other scheduled visits, we will do our best to accommodate - noon check-outs will result in a fee due to expediting turnover services.
-Please take rental insurance that is offered at the renters expense.
Watauga Lake Recreation:
This beautiful lake is located across the Western North Carolina state line in Eastern Tennessee. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway on the lake, we invite you to take a look at our recently built cabin. More than half of Watauga Lake's shoreline lies within the Cherokee National Forest and cannot be developed. Recreational uses include boating, fishing, water-skiing, and camping. There is no horsepower limit or speed limit for boats operating on the lake. Several fee-based public and private boat launch ramps provide access on the Hampton side of the reservoir.
Come unwind with us in the peaceful mountains knowing this cabin is conveniently located.

Beautiful cabin. Everything was very clean. Excellent mountain views. Enjoyed ourselves very much. Only down part was how remote the location is.

Everything was perfect. Beautiful view day and night. So many things to do as well that are close by. We liked that there are things there fir kids to do. We are definitely planning to do it again next year so we can bring our kids.

Our family of five had an excellent time at Matthews overlook. The house was fresh and new looking inside. Everything was clean and well maintained. The host was great to work with. We would definitely stay here again if we headed back to Watauga lake.

We had a fun weekend at the overlook. It had a nice view and we also got a few inches of snow. The cabin is arranged very nicely. There is plenty of room for six people. This is a great place for two couples. Although I was turned off by the abrupt communication from the owners at first, the check in process is easy. Please note that the only way into the home is a set of steep stairs. Consider this if you have an older person coming with you. Also, the bedrooms are cold at night when the doors are shut even though the thermostat is at 75. For shopping or your personal needs, we brought everything with us, but there is a dollar general 15 minutes the house, and a drive into town for a grocery store, fast food, Walgreens, and a few small shops. It is 20 to 30 minutes, depending on your vehicle on the weather. The drive was pretty in the snow. I recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
