YMCA Hotel

I booked the Indian YMCA to extend my stay in London , one of the main reasons I booked was due to a midday check in advertised plus a safe in the room . When I arrived at just before midday yesterday I was informed the room would not be ready for around 20 min . I explained i needed to change and freshen up and the whole point of booking your establishment was to enable a lunch meeting in Camden . As it was I had to cancel that . I asked the receptionist for some water as it was a very hot day she waved me towards the dining area . I went to purchase water from the fridge - “served” by a rather surly chap seemed too much trouble and cost me £1.20 - given i had t wait for the room which should have been ready for my arrival i would have appreciated just a glass of tap water given by the receptionist , not had to purchase a bottle of actually even though from a fridge fairly warm water ! I then waited - explained again to the receptionist why I had booked , then some woman appeared clearly from the housekeeping team and was chatting to the receptionist for around ten min and texting or face booking or whatever on her mobile throughout - would have been more useful to have been helping prepare the room !! At around 12.30pm yesterday I informed the receptionist I would like a refund as in fact this wait invalidated my purpose to stay , she declined saying another ten min . Eventually and then after all that waiting around she decided to take the pic of my ID !! We could have done all that while i was hanging around !! I then went to the room to find three or four people scurrying around still allegedly cleaning it - was around 1245 pm by this time ! one person decided he needed still to hoover the carpet by the bed - i said not to bother as i really needed to get on as it was i had already tripped over the hoover cable which had yanked it from the plug socket in the wall ! . Then just as i was settling some one appeared with a jug of warm tap water ! I went to use the safe - which doesn’t exist even though the Agoda description specifies there is one !! Given the lateness i didnt pay too much more attention to the room , and did thank the receptionist for sorting eventually . And reminded i had to cancel my lunch appnt . Later i returned to use the shower - death trap !! Firstly the hot and cold water is not labelled as it should be , then the hot is scalding !! Secondly the base of the shower unit is not safe as it is very slippy - no matt - no signeage !! I went out and returned around 730 pm to chewy as an early start today - however i had no sleep as such as the room was boiling hot and unable to open the locked window to let some air in . There was a fan which earlier the housekeeping staff had made a big thing of turning on . I noted also dust thicker than a recent clean to the right of the door as you go in - i have pictures . The door was all chipped and worn , as is the bathroom door , the flooring also between the two rooms , the griddle has a rusty tray in it . All together for the price I paid - shocking !!!! It should have been charged at around 60.00 for the night at the most !! Not the 109.00 i paid , even given the location etc !! Then to add insult to injury as would be obvious to any right thinking person the male receptionist this morning when i handed key back called me back ,I explained i am hard of hearing and no idea what he was talking about and that i had a train to catch - ie why one would be leaving at around 645 am if not on a time scale . this did not deter him . He went on and on no idea still what he was on about - think he mentioned paying for which i already had so I informed him at least 50 quid over what the room was worth had already been paid - he then went on some more - to which I informed some of the issues above as i attempted to leave this then meant I missed my bus and subsequent train !! all in all not good !! Much improveme
