Hotel Botanico

Location is superb..

Overall, we had a good experience and I think the hotel is good value for money. The person at reception was not very smiley or welcoming at first, but later seemed friendly and professional. I think this is one area the hotel could improve. Reception staff should make every guest feel welcome from the beginning, with a proper greeting and a friendly attitude, regardless of how the guest looks. First impressions matter, especially when arriving at a hotel. The hotel and our room were clean and met our expectations. There are two elevators, but both are quite small. One thing I personally did not like was that the hotel building is located a bit uphill. I had a hard time climbing up to the hotel, so this may be something to keep in mind for anyone who has difficulty walking uphill. The surrounding area is quite lively, with plenty of street food, restaurants, bars, branded shops and other stores. About one block down there is also a small garden-style park with a children's playground. It has a cafe where you can get snacks, drinks and coffee. The main street near the hotel also has green areas with benches in the middle, separating the two sides of the road. It makes the area quite pleasant for sitting, walking around or spending some time outside. There are two convenience stores and an Indian restaurant right next to the hotel. However, the area is quite expensive for food and drinks, and the nearby convenience stores seemed overpriced compared with other places and cities we visited in Portugal. The minibar had three complimentary 500ml bottles of water, but no other drinks. The room also did not provide a toothbrush, toothpaste or slippers. Apart from these points, our overall experience was good and I would recommend the hotel, especially considering the price.

Room is simple, clean, well provisioned, staff is friendly and helpful, location is excellent, I am very pleased with this selection. This is a great comfort since I am new to Lisboa and I know after a long day of tourism I have a relaxing hotel to return to. I am 69 and well traveled and I don’t applaud easily but I do applaud Botanico.

Hotel Botanico is ideqlly located to have easy and quick access to both Barrio Alto and Lisbon central. It is also removed enough that it is a relatively quiet street as to not disturb you during your sleep.
