We had a one night stay in this amazing place. Historical building with beautiful decor, high ceilings and large windows. Everything was great, reception was welcoming and friendly, breakfast was perfect.

This was the best hotel ever. Perfect location, so beautiful and breakfast was lovely. We were in a private suite and I can't recommend this place enough. Such a pleasant surprise given the price point.

I had a wonderful two-night stay at Independente Príncipe Real, and I would definitely stay here again. The hostel is beautiful, both inside and out. I stayed in a 12-bed dorm, and everything was clean when I arrived. The bed was comfortable, and the room was well maintained. The biggest highlight of my stay was the staff. They truly went above and beyond. I wanted to open a bottle of wine, but there wasn't a corkscrew in the shared kitchen. I asked at reception, and one of the staff members made every effort to find one for me. It was a small gesture, but it showed how much they cared about helping their guests. On my departure day, I had trouble finding my Bolt driver at 4:30 a.m. The receptionist immediately stepped in to help. He took my phone and tried communicating with the driver in Portuguese to figure out where he was. When that didn't solve the problem, he quickly called me a taxi so I wouldn't risk missing my flight. Both of the staff members I interacted with were incredibly kind, professional, and helpful. They really made my stay memorable. The location is also excellent. There is a popular viewpoint right across the street, and many of the tuk-tuk tours depart from directly in front of the hostel, making it a great base for exploring Lisbon. There are just a few things to keep in mind. The walk from the metro is about 10 minutes and uphill, so if you're traveling with large or heavy luggage, it can be a bit challenging. I only had a carry-on suitcase, so it wasn't an issue for me. The only real downside was the bathroom setup. The shower stalls use shower curtains instead of solid doors, so privacy isn't ideal. Also, although the room had air conditioning, it wasn't working during my stay. Fortunately, the weather wasn't too hot, so it wasn't a major problem, but it could be something to consider if you're visiting during the warmer months. Overall, I highly recommend this hostel. It's beautiful, well located, and the exceptional staff made all the difference. I would happily stay here again.

No offered towel until I did ask upon checkout, then he mentioned that there was an additional fee for rental purposes. Staff is not often available but if not they prefer that you call them. As an international traveler I didn't have a phone plan available to make phone calls ubf
