Salom Hostel

Salom hostel is one of famous hostels in the Panjakent and close to main Bazaar. Owner Ruqiya opa was super friendly and nice. Everything was great!

I would not stay anywhere else in Panjakent. Salom Hostel is an oasis where you can relax and recharge. Zafar, his family and staff, and especially his daughter are all so friendly and helpful. It is in a quiet neighborhood but only a 5 minute walk to the main street and a little further to the bazaar. The courtyard has a great round shaded seating area where we met and hung out with the other guests.

The dorm room was comfortable but a little bit tight on space especially if you want to pack your bag. The beds are also a little bit short for me (I'm 188cm). Also the wifi didn't work very well in the room.

The best hostel in Panjakent! The owner is a pretty cool guy, location is great, price/quality is also very good. I particularly liked the garden with the gazebo. The guests that stay here are usually adventurous people who are crossing into Tajikistan to travel/cycle the Pamir Highway. Totally recommend it, made good friends.

-family run hostel -one of the *cleanest* hostels I've been after 12 years of backpacking -Zafar goes out of his way to make you feel at home. He has great English and helps coordinate. When he hostel was fully booked, he offered people mattresses on the floor them tent camping on his premises -Full kitchen with freezer and fridge. Again. Soooo clean. The mom cleans 3 times a day -- the toilets were always clean and had consistent toilet paper, which is rare!

-Not a deal breaker but the city had some power outages one day. Not the hostel's fault.
