Argensola - Apartamento de 2 dormitorios con Terraza

Location near city center. Quiet place. Terrace with very pleasant view. Quality Wifi. Excellent Gaudi library near the building.

Narrow bathroom for such a large apartment ; and toilets update mandatory - big problem with the seat. Be aware that there is no elevator and upstairs will be hard for seniors with big luggage.

There was no paper in the toilet.

The location is perfect. The metro station is nearby (Alonso Martinez). The apartment is close to the Chueca and its nightlife, but far enough to not suffer from its noise. Main areas of the city are at a walkable distance (Gran Via, calle Serrano and its shops), Chueca, Malasana, museums etc.). The apartment is quiet. You cannot hear the noise of the street (windows closed with the air-conditioning). This is rare in Madrid. In our case, we were unlucky as there was some work being done in the flat opposite to us and it became noisy starting at 9am (hence not so quiet during our stay...). We were not warned of this when we booked and we did not get any gesture for the inconveniences. The apartment is enough for four people despite its unusual format (20m from the living room to the bathroom). The terrace is fantastic, with great views on the roofs of the city and on the Telefonica building (Gran Via). Ideal for a short drink with friends or for having a glass of wine (but there are only two available in the kitchen). Easy check-in and check-out. Good communication with the agency via WhatsApp. We were delayed and we could easily manage a new time for the check-in.

The bathroom is small and needs to be renovated. A shower would be preferable to the small bathtub. The bidet who nobody uses these days should be removed as it obstructs the passage to the bathtub. The bathroom also includes the toilets. This would not be an issue if the bathroom door could be locked. The beds (especially the ones in the twin-room) and the pillows are uncomfortable and the sheet in one bed did not seem to be clean (little yellow spots). The toilet kit is well furnished (better than in many hotels) with soap, liquid soap, shampoo, tissues, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb and is sufficient for a day or maybe two; but definitively not for a week so we had to buy our own soap and shampoo. We only get only one large towel per person. Here as well, it can be sufficient for a couple of days, but not when staying for a week. We had no hot water on the first day. We contacted the agency and had to explain in length what the issue was over WhatsApp. The agency was responsive and the issue was fixed within the same day. We also queried the cleanliness of the sheet, the lack of towels and some missing small items like tea towel. We were advised that this was not possible as this would be an extra cleaning service. Even if we insisted on the sheet cleanliness, we did not get any action on this. This was frustrating and disappointing considering the good impression we had during the check-in process. The apartment was overall clean, but some areas like the corridor could have been cleaner. There are four keys per set of keys. None of them is marked and three are very similar. Entering the building and the apartment becomes to be a game. 1. Find the right key. 2. Try to open the building door which is particularly tricky (you need to remove slightly from the lock and turn it to open the door) and time consuming and 3. Find the keys for the two (reversed)locks of apartment). A bit painful when returning at 4am...

- water pressure is very low, both for shower and tap - all the beds are very noisy - the oven does not work - not enough toilet paper nor detergent for the time of our stay
