Hallagather Farmhouse

I was staying overnight here whilst walking the South West Coast Path. An old, quaint farmhouse with self-service check-in and breakfast and a breakfast room plus living room for sharing with other guests. Clean room, comfortable bed, en suite shower, all fine.

The only disadvantage of the location is that there is no place for dinner within reasonable walking distance. Next restaurants are down at the beach, not far but a tedious walk uphill afterwards. If you are there with a car that is not an issue, if you are walking its best to bring your own sandwiches or have early dinner at Coombe Barton Inn and walk up afterwards. There is also a bus station at the beach worthwhile to check departure times if you wish to skip the steep walk uphill on the road.

Breakfast was great, a good selection of cereals and toast, fruit yogurts and Becky provided oat milk too. The microwave was very helpful too.

Nothing. It was just what we needed.

Ein Traum von einem alten Farmhaus. Jedes Zimmer ist anders. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit einem privaten Bad am Treppenhaus. Alles sehr schön und urig eingerichtet. Ganz einfaches Frühstück vorhanden. Danke an die sehr nette Gastgeberin für den Mehraufwand nach der Übernachtung.

Für Wanderer am SWCP ist es knapp 2 km vom Weg entfernt. Dazu nochmal eine grosse Steigung. Aber das Farmhaus ist es wert.

The farmhouse is 500 yrs of age and amazing to stay in something so old.

If you are a SWCP walker.. DO NOT stay in this farmhouse. Although quaint and quiet it is toooooooo far if you are a hiker. After a long leg of the SWCP we walked up and up for 1.6kms and it was horrendous. I cried due to how far way it was and to top it off we had to walk back down to eat dinner. There was a shorter cut through paddocks and a wooded track (I would not have done this without my husband) but by no means not much shorter and still as steep. If i had been aware of this I would have by passed Crackington Haven as very limited accommodation and only one place for food and had gotten to the next town.
