We have stayed here several times because it ticks all our boxes. It is a lovely place to stay. Comfortable, clean and cosy. Just right for exploring Albert and the surrounding areas

We have been staying here since 2019. It is very well situated in the heart of Albert and close to places we visit when we’re here. It is a lovely 3 bedroom house and we have been with various members of my family. The house is perfect for all our needs.

Lovely cottage and great central location.

Clean and modern. Well equipped. Two toilets/bathrooms. Downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Central location so could walk to cafes/shops and restaurants and the Somme museum. Although it was central it was still a quiet location. There was a nice garden area outside although it was too warm for us to sit out in the sun at that time.

Nothing really. It was a bit warm upstairs at night but the weather was warm. There is no air conditioning but there are fans provided and shutters on the windows.

Home from Home - Hidden gem

Fabulous stay ! There were 3 of us visiting the WW1 Battlefields. A real hidden gem home from home! Absolutely everything you need. All spotless. Kitchen well equipped, lounge very comfortable, bedrooms beautiful, comfortable beds with quality bed linen. Beautiful garden. 2 mins walk to the Basilica! Parking, excellent security and very peaceful. Would highly recommend.

Great location, very comfortable

Great location, less than 5 minutes walk to the shops, bars & restaurants in the centre of town. The accommodation is located at the bottom of a pleasant and peaceful garden. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, we cooked one evening. The off-street parking was very handy in the middle of town (the gateway was made for smaller cars but we managed fine.) Anne communicated well and helpfully throughout, and was available for tips and assistance.

Nothing to dislike. This is the best accommodation I've found in years of visiting the Somme area.

Brilliant comfortable stay

Great communication with Anne. She is a lovely person who takes pride in her accommodation and met us when we arrived. There was parking for 2 vehicles in a secure area at the front of the home. The accommodation is in the centre of Albert. It was very clean and is at the rear of the premises and has 3 large bedrooms. Nice kitchen dining & lounge area. Plenty of room for 6 people. Albert is an ideal town location for people seeking to experience The Somme. Overall a brilliant and comfortable stay at Cottage De L’ancre.

Apart from the smell from the bathroom it was a pleasant stay.

It was in a good location, had very spacious living area and bedrooms and the kitchen well-equipped. The bedrooms and living area were comfortable, clean and well furnished. The beds were very comfortable and mostly the facilities were good. The heating worked well. The owner was kind and helpful when the wifi wouldn’t work. There was a washing machine and portable clothes drying rack.

The wifi would not connect at first and the owner needed to fix it. The upstairs bathroom was very smelly and the shower recess had a lot of mould around the edges of the floor and on the overhead ceiling. It smelled like the plumbing needed a thorough flushing to clean it out, or replacing. The downstairs shower also had mould around the edges of the floor. There was no dryer to dry the washing.

Family trip

We found the cottage to be very clean and comfortable for our 2 night stay. Perfectly situated to walk into the centre of Albert and a short drive to many monuments in the surrounding area. Beautiful little garden to relax in at the end of the day. Thank you Anne for your warm welcome too.

Idylic little gite, secluded location in the town centre. Host was a lovely lady and was very helpful. Cleanliness was excellent and you wnt find larger beds!!!!!

Perfect for touring the Somme.

Anne was a fantastic host! She met us on arrival to show us around the Gite and it's facilities. The property has everything you needed and more. We toured the Somme so was only in the property for short periods in the morning and evening but we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

The property is exceptional, with off street secure parking. There is a 3 minute walk to the nearest pub or restaurant. The property is modern and secure, with traditional metal shutters. There is nothing to add to this location. It was perfect for my family. This was out third visit and we will return.

Great house in a super location

The location in the centre of Albert was perfect, so close to lots of WW1 sights. The house itself was great, beautifully decorated and the beds were so comfortable! It was perfect for the 7 of us. Outside space to sit in was great, a sunny spot. Anne was very friendly and welcoming.

Comfortable stay in a well located property.

The detached cottage lies within the back gardens of a large house. The cottage has recently been fitted out with really good showers, toilets etc. The three bedrooms were comfortably furnished with good sized beds. There was a large lounge and a good sized kitchen cum dining area. The kitchen was well equipped. The cottage lies close to the centre of Albert with its restaurants and bars.

The cottage had no drawbacks.

The apartment is secure, secluded and tidy. Excellent all round. Albert has plenty of places to eat and the surrounding area is lovely. Good base if you are doing the WW1 remembrance trail.

Historic central Albert is a 2 minute walk away.

Anne, our friendly English speaking host, showed us round the lovely, recently renovated cottage which was clean, modern & had all the facilities you need including a laundry room. The walk in shower in the modern bathroom was powerful & hot. The kitchen was full of all the cooking facilities you would require. The bedroom was cosy & comfy. The sitting room was spacious with local info reading.
