The room was basic, consistent with the price, but adequate.
The room was clean bed an pillows comfotable, no aircon but not required at 5000' elevation, and wifi reliable.
There were coffee and tea making facilities in the room.
The location on booking.com is WRONG! I shows the property about half way along Lake Buyan, but it's at the western end, 1+ kms from the booking.com map position.
The paths are slippery due to a moss buildup from the wet and generally humid conditions. It's quite dangerous, and needs an acid wash regularly to make it safe.

We came by car, traffic on the road was quiet and it was so easy to locate the hotel. Room is spacious, clean and the bed is comfortable. The restaurant is very good. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, great dining experience.

The views were absolutely stunning. Rooms were clean and well attended. Breakfast was good.
We needed mozzie spray as there were hundreds of them. It was cold in the middle of the night and an extra blanket was needed but wasn't in the room.

We picked The Garuda Villa and Restaurant as a stop on our journey because it was right in the middle of our route. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the complex turned out to be bigger than we expected from the photos. The garden is lovely, and the rooftop offers a beautiful view.
The staff is incredibly friendly, which made our stay even better. There’s also a small but nice pool—perfect for cooling off on hot days. Plus, the WiFi is excellent!
In the evening, we ate at the restaurant, which had a huge selection of dishes and tasted absolutely delicious.
A great place to take a break and relax. Would stay again!

Garuda Villa in Bandegoul is perched at the summit of a mountain, offering a fantastic view that’s truly breathtaking. However, due to the steep and challenging roads, a car is necessary to visit the village and the lake – scooters are not suitable. The staff is amazing, working together like a family. They are always helpful, kind, and attentive, which is the highlight of this hotel. The rooms are comfortable, and the restaurant is excellent, providing a great dining experience.
That said, the main drawback is the geographic location, which makes it a bit isolated. If you’re looking for peace and incredible views, this is a great choice, but be prepared for the logistics of getting around.
The main concern highlighted is the isolated location of the hotel. While the views are stunning, the challenging roads and the necessity of a car for getting around (with no option for scooters) might be inconvenient for some travelers. This makes it less accessible and potentially limits spontaneous exploration of nearby areas like the village or lake.

I strongly do not recommend this stay. For the price, it doesn’t reflect the dirty rooms and lack of upkeep. We had originally booked it for 2 nights, and stayed only one night and had to leave the next. When we entered there were countless mosquitoes as shown in the pictures showing that the room was never cleaned. The bed sheets were stained and dirty. I know this is Bali and its common to see insects, but the room’s ceiling had huge spider webs and a huge spider came down while we were in the room. Earlier we stayed in a bamboo house in the MIDDLE of the forest and that house was cleaner and most kept up than this. I’m not sure what these were but we had a continuous feeling of itch in bed and found really small insects. Before leaving we asked to be moved to another room and when we went in, it was just as bad, so we left the hotel and requested a refund from booking.
The breakfast was okay. The front lobby was usually empty, we sometimes had to wait for 20 minutes+ for someone to come or just ended up searching for staff around the place to call them. Also the wifi never reached our rooms, we had to access wifi only from the resto. Honestly, I would just a few more dollars and stay at Handara Resort, this place doesn’t deserve its price.

Location
staff is friendly
hot nice shower
-Bedsheets wasn't clean, we changed the room
-outside the rooms is garden and spider nets everywhere should be cleaned, i check before i walk..
-the laundry they deal with is bad, like it wasn't washed
-Don't recommend breakfast there (omlette and coffee) but lunch is ok. Breakfast should be improved as the hotel is not cheap, i had excellent breakfast in a cheaper hotel.Like they out carrot and cabbage in the omlette!
-They should put tea, coffee and boiler in the room..
-Staff was talking and laughing all day loudly, ok they are friends but it's not the place as the the rooms and kitchen are very close to each other:)
*Hotel has very good location but if they improve these points will be great!!

Excelent staff, near to the waterfalls
No hot water in the shower, strong sewer smell in the bathroom.

The pictures and price fooled me into thinking this hotel was going to be a bit more of a treat, but its value didn't go beyond a homestay a third of the price. The outdoor areas are designed very well, almost like a garden among the bungalows, but the room didn't live up to it.
The room was very basic and not very clean (especially the linen could use a proper wash, it looked like it was left on the bed for a couple of weeks). The bathroom was not great as well, with the shower mounted over the toilet and sink - need to dry the toilet seat every time after showering.

Beautiful garden, quiet place, nice view of twin lakes from the road in front of the hotel.
Good location to visit waterfalls in the surroundings and Ulun Danu Beratan temple if you rent a scooter (you can do it in the hotel).
Location in the middle of nowhere. No options for dinner in the nearest surrounding except in the hotel. This might change with more tourists coming to the area.

This property is the one that would make you feel like at home. It is located in quiet place, uphill. There might be some mist when the evening is approaching, which made the scenery even more dramatic. We decided to take a two-day trip from the hotel to go around Bedugul and the nearby waterfalls (Banyumala, Aling-aling, and Sekumpul waterfalls). Bli Rafli and Bli Oka (who drove us around) were very friendly and helpful. The restaurants menu have quite basic Indonesian food, but it tasted nice! A tip; if you like to reach this hotel by yourself, better have a manual geared car, or motorcycle, as the roads can be very windy and ascending. Or, better hire a driver if you are not familiar with the roads and traffics in Bali. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay!
probably an option to have a better light in the room.

Beautiful garden and lovely staff. Was very clean and rooms were bigger than expected.
It isn't a dislike, but would be better with a hair dryer so could dry wet clothes if needed.
8.0 / 10.0
The Garuda Villas sits across the street from majestic Lake Buyan, and has rooftop views north to the coast. Unfortunately, the rooms don't offer views of the lake or the north coast, but rather face inward to the garden, the better to shelter them from street noise or smells from the neighboring farm. There's a tiny pool, which may not appeal in the cold air this high. The highlight is the staff, who make up in charm and diligence whatever they may lack in experience. They bend over backwards to accommodate any request.
The street is the main artery for the region and so there's traffic noise at all hours. Wifi can be a bit ragged when the hotel is crowded and competition for bandwidth is high, but this is a rural area so that's not unexpected.

Watched the sunset on the rooftop and it was magnificent!!
Breakfast was also yummy, however because of the pandemic the restaurant is not open for lunch or dinner.
Overall we had really nice stay. Will definitely recommend.
We booked the family room thinking that there will be a private seating area such as balcony or living room. But there was none of those. Luckily the hotel staff let move to a different room on the next night. Thank you!

Very nice hotel, you feel like in a Miyasaki movie sort of, the location is perfect for a visit around the lakes. The staff is very nice and helpful, the rooftop has an amazing view and best place to drink your coffee. Would definitely recommend it.
