Worst experience of my life!!

The accommodation is on the 5th floor of a building with no elevator. I was staying with my 90-year-old grandmother and was only informed the day before... When we got there at the end of the day, there was no air conditioning, only a very noisy portable unit that heated up instead of cooling down, which made us spend the night awake in the heat!!! But the worst was yet to come. After a terrible night, we were late for the beach. Around 10:10, I started receiving aggressive calls and messages from the owner, saying that I was late for check-out, that I was stealing from him, that he was going to throw my bags out the window, and that he was going to CALL THE POLICE! I never felt so attacked and insecure. I ran in my bikini through the mountains back to the room, terrified that he would attack my grandmother, who was alone in the apartment when they broke in with her inside. He started talking loudly to her, even though she doesn't understand Italian or English! It was traumatic, his conversation sounded like that of a CRIMINAL AND I WAS SO SCARED! I ran out, grabbed my bags, and ran from the apartment before 11 a.m.!! I was terrified of meeting him and being attacked like I was by the messages! I don't recommend the apartment despite the beauty of Portofino! I've never been treated so badly in my life, and on this trip alone I stayed at more than 10 places through Booking!

Portofino is a very beautiful place and the apartment is very central to everything.

The location was amazing, walk out the door and you are on the Main Street with shops all around. The nature walks around Portofino were absolutely beautiful. The host was responsive to questions.

There was a large amount of stairs up to the apartment which is fine for everyday use but with a heavy suitcase when first arriving and leaving makes it challenging. There is no supermarket in Portofino so if you have food allergies not a very supportive place to stay. A welcome manual with wifi information would be supportive.

It was inconvenient to carry luggage to hight floors on the fourth level The high sound of the Gaz heater in the living room which was in the center of apartment. A problem in the hot-cold water in shower. It needs adjustment

Comfortable for 3 people and great location.

Location was fabulous and lovely view from the terrace. TV worked well, plenty of hot water, beds were comfortable.

It was difficult to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs. Kitchen was not well designed and kitchen had very limited equipment for cooking. No basic kitchen staples such as oil were provided. The toilet needs to be fixed as it kept getting stuck and couldn’t be flushed.

7 flights if stairs. Accommodations on the 4th floor without a lift. Was not aware of this until arrival. 2nd bedroom was very uncomfortable. Kitchen was not well stocked. Gas stove needed to be turned on with a match, which there were none.

The location is wonderful and the apartment very comfortable although it is a fourth-floor walk-up.

Completely dissapointing

The location was excellent as expected but that is as far as it goes!! The description of this apartment is very misleading and I have a mass of messages I could share from the host about our dissatisfaction. He also admitted when he came to see us that the photos DO make the apartment look a lot better than it is as they are old and the bathroom is so awful that his own girlfriend wouldnt use it. He was very disinterested in our dissatisfaction, as he was so busy with his boat business in town he was in a hurry??? No customer service for those who have the confidence to confront thier deseption.

When we arrived it was clear the apartment had had a quick turnaround, the diswasher was full with no glasses or crockery in the cupboards, the apartment smelt stale and as though it hadnt had a good clean in a long time, never mind that morning. The floors were dirty, the walls badly marked and the whole place thoroughly unloved. The bathroom was disgusting(see pictures) not even any hand soap, and filth. You have to lift the shower screen to shut it as it wont slide any longer there is so much grime and mould. The toilet roll holder had fallen off the wall and the toilet brush was filthy. This isnt a €30 a night apartment in some back street b&b, this was €300+ and it was clear that although there had been a two year lockdown without visitors the host had laid on his laurels and not bothered with maintenance or to give it a lick of paint or a deep clean in many years. He said he knows the bathroom isnt good, he then told us that this is Portofino... things are old its different to anywhere else in Italy... seriously ? We have been all over Italy, Rome, Como, Garda, Florence, Venice, Pisa, Montepulciano, Assisi, Cortona, Sienna, Lucca, Rimini, Mikan...i could go on - and never been expected to endure such filth. We were promised a cleaner that night who didnt materialise, after chasing we were told as it was so late she would come the next day. The next day we placed a towel and shampoo strategically to see if they were moved, they werent and yet the host argued she had cleaned. Bleach has a distinctive smell, so we are not stupid. The description also states 'air conditioning' there is a small a.c unit in the lounge which is very old and doesnt make any difference, especially in 31 degrees!, a mobile a.c unit in the bedroom which you are expected to set up and leave a window open for the pipe ( i was told not to worry about mosquitoes "there arent many") The second bedroom has no a.c..

Location. excellent ! the place was immaculate. we were 4 adults and PortifinoVip welcomed and accomadated our requests as there was some misunderstanding with booking.com. they did not make much of the problem ! very helpful staff with smiles

although the stairs could be negative for many clients ; wheras we are fit and gym entusiasts & welcomed this only exercise we had in portofino! NB this is an apartment and not a hotel!

Aumentare dotazioni cucina con olio e sale. verificare prima che i caloriferi siano funzionanti, al nostro arrivo due non andavano e l'appartamento era freddo. Problema risolto con l'intervento di un tecnico. Avere in dotazione cuscini del letto più duri. Zero flessibilità , ho chiesto di spostare il viaggio in quanto mio figlio aveva la febbre ma non é stata proprio preso in considerazione. Assistenza Booking pessima.

- Aucune communication préalable à l'arrivée malgré de nombreux messages envoyés via booking et WhatsApp, très stressant de ne pas avoir les informations d'arrivée à l'avance quand on voyage avec des enfants - personne sur place aimable par message mais aucune aide apportée - messages automatiques envoyés pour évaluer la satisfaction du séjour alors que nous ne sommes même pas arrivés et n'arrivons à obtenir aucune information pour l'arrivée. Ça ne fait qu'augmenter l'agacement! - 4e étage sans ascenseur - vétusté de l'appartement et notamment de la literie (des 2 lits) en piteux état - très grandes difficultés de stationnement (peu de places et 50€/24h ou 150€ chez un garagiste)
