About this apartment rental

Facing the ever-blue Mediterranean, this stunningly bright, 98 square-meter apartment is quietly perched upon a limestone hill, a few minute walk from the beach, in one of the most exquisite and dynamic towns of France's southern coast. Here is the view that Paul Valéry immortalized as the “quiet ceiling where doves march among the graves, among fluttering pines.”

This bright, elegantly-decorated three-bedroom apartment is full of light all year long. As you can see from the pictures, it has three independent bedrooms, two of which look onto the sea, the third one being no less pleasant with its extraordinary quietness and private bathroom. All of the amenities in the apartment are very recent, and a number are even brand-new. A swimming pool is available in the condominium, with a magnificent sea view as well.

Easily connected with Montpellier, Nîmes, Carcassonne, and Marseille, Sète is surrounded by a rich variety of medieval abbeys, opulent vineyards, and natural sites of exceptional beauty. In addition, the city hosts several, highly-regarded festivals during the summer season, in particular festivals of jazz, world music, and poetry. I can only recommend that you take advantage of these opportunities, in particular by attending an event at the Théâtre de la Mer –a fantastic venue, in which the stage opens onto the Mediterranean!

The place is located between the old town and the Corniche, right above the famous Graveyard by the Sea (le Cimetière marin) and Sète's main museum (le Musée des Beaux-Arts Paul-Valéry).

The port that you see on the pictures corresponds to the center, and is easily accessible on foot in no more than 10 minutes downhill. If you arrive by train, there are several public transportation which I will let you know about, but you can also walk across town from the station in about half an hour - provided you don't have too much luggage, of course. Sète has a fantastic fish market, gorgeous canals and excellent, unassuming tiny restaurants which I'll be more than happy to recommend. On your way back from town, you will be able to use a couple of elevators that will spare you part of the hassle. Of course, you may prefer to go around by car, there are multiple, convenient parkings in town.

On the other side of the hill —to the right when facing the sea from the apartment— the Corniche is an ever-expanding, modern area, where the wide and long beaches of Sète are located. On foot, I'd say it should take you a good 20 minutes to reach the first ones, and only a fraction of this by car or by bus, of course. But if you're desperate to hear the waves, a five-minute walk down to the gorgeous stone-pier, located to the left of the 17th-century fort you see on the pictures, should assuage your crave. And do not forget that if you want to take a dive, a swimming pool is available for you.

----------

Facing south, facing the blue vastness of the Mediterranean, this vast apartment of 98 square meters opening onto a large terrace is perched on the limestone slopes of Mont Saint-Clair, a few minutes' walk from the beach. Here it is, this view that Paul Valéry made legendary by evoking “this quiet roof where doves walk.”

This carefully decorated three-bedroom apartment fills with light all year round. As you can see in the photos, it has three independent bedrooms, two facing the sea, the third being no less pleasant, quiet, with its private bathroom. All the equipment of the apartment is recent, and for some brand new. During your stay, you will have access to a swimming pool reserved for the condominium, also with the sea view.

Easily connected to Montpellier, Nîmes, Carcassonne or even Marseille, Sète is surrounded by numerous medieval abbeys, vineyards with character and natural sites of exceptional beauty. In addition, the city hosts several renowned festivals during the summer season, in particular jazz, world music and poetry festivals. I can only urge you to take advantage of these opportunities, and in particular to attend an event at the Théâtre de la Mer - a magical place, whose scene opens onto the Mediterranean!

The apartment is located between the old town and the Corniche, above the Marine Cemetery and the most important museum in Sète, the Paul-Valéry Museum of Fine Arts.

The port you see in the photos corresponds to the city center, which can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes by descent. If you arrive by train, several means of transport will be at your disposal, but if you are not too busy you can also cross the city on foot from the station, which will only take you half an hour. Sète boasts an extraordinary fish market, a network of canals with unrivaled charm, and excellent tables that I will be happy to tell you. Back on foot from the city, you can use elevators to save some of the effort of the climb. Of course, you may prefer the car to explore the city; there you will find several large parking lots which are very convenient.

On the other side of the hill - on the right while looking at the sea from the terrace of the apartment - is the Corniche, a modern district in rapid growth where the beautiful and long beaches of Sète are located. On foot, the first will be accessible to you in a good twenty minutes; in a much shorter time, of course, if you take the bus or the car. And if by chance you were desperately eager to hear the sound of the waves, a five-minute descent would take you to the Saint-Louis mole and would be enough, I am sure, to quench your maritime desires! Not to mention the welcome presence of the swimming pool, where you can relax after long days of sun.

The apartment was very clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable. The balcony runs all the way across the apartment and has views of the Mediterranean that are gorgeous. There is a pool, but the weather did not cooperate for it’s use. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
