About this farm stay rental

A charming country farmhouse set in a hamlet amongst the beautiful Langres countryside in South Champagne, a few kilometres from the border of Burgundy. This is our country retreat giving access to the gastronomy & history of 3 regions of France but providing a peaceful place to relax away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. The house is full of character with many original features coupled with modern comforts and has been renovated to reflect the authentic French charm and style of the property.

You are greeted with a large fully equipped farmhouse kitchen & separate double salon with woodburning fire plus 3 individually designed bedrooms each with its own private bathroom. Sitting in a wooded valley with uninterrupted views from every window - enjoy the magnificent surroundings in this lovely spot.

This was a good property in which to holiday. It was comfortable, spacious, well-equipped, and an excellent base from which to explore the lovely Haute Marne area, and even beyond down to Mulhouse and Basel in Switzerland. The hosts provided a most useful introduction sheet.The reason we haven't given the property a 5-star rating is because its Vrbo description noted there was a garden. This is inaccurate - there is no garden beyond a tiny area for a table and chairs by the front door. What appears to be a garden is a grassed public access street running between the property and farm fields. Not very busy mind you, but it was public and was used by a local farmer in his car and a few other people on foot.

Huge farmhouse with a bathroom for each of the three of us. Really quiet at the end of a tiny hamlet. We all said our beds were the most comfortable we've ever slept in whilst away from home. We'll miss watching the cows moving around from field to field. We found that very therapeutic! We're big nature fans, so we were very happy to see a nice selection of butterflies and other insects and birds, including a Hoopoe and lots of Red Kites amongst others. The little patio area was nice and cosy, and we enjoyed eating and drinking around the table there. We would definitely consider staying here again.

My family spent Christmas holiday at the farmhouse. The location and farmhouse was nothing short of brilliant. Charming, well appointed, plenty of space, wonderful neighbors. I’m definitely planning my next stay. Your hosts are very responsive so it made the experience even more relaxing.

We spent 3 weeks at this wonderful place in a quiet, green landscape of grass, cows, berries, ways to be found, the milky way visible for it is really dark at night...Dijon is near, as is Beaune not far. However, just staying there was really good as well as exploring the sourrounding by bikes. Perfect place!

We came back for our autumn break after staying here before, as had such fond memories of this tastefully decorated and comfortable farm house. We were delighted to find that after three years this is still the perfect autumn holiday home: beautiful surroundings, safe for the kids to roam around and close to shops/bakery and beautiful Langres.

My two sons (13 & 16) and I spent a wonderful holiday week in the great house with an idyllic garden. On the one hand we enjoyed being at home, cooking, playing games, reading, painting and just relaxing. On the other hand, it was fun to explore the surroundings with small towns, restaurants, castles, lakes and mills. We felt very, very comfortable here in the tastefully furnished house and the beautiful rural surroundings. Thank you very much Gavin and Shelley

We loved the property, the original period details and the antique furniture. But it still has all the conveniences we expected including en-suite to all bedrooms and just so much space! Beautiful setting with lovely walks and a lake nearby where we had a morning swim each day before breakfast. We'll definitely be back.

The Farmhouse was just perfect! Decorated beautifully and casual, the beds and linens were so comfortable! ALL our needs were met, wasn't missing a thing. We enjoyed buying our food at LeClerc in Langres with fresh ingredients and cooking at the house, and enjoying our local wines. It was SO QUIET. Enjoyed having BBC on the tv for English speaking tv. Was fascinating driving thru the little towns and we explored Beaune and Dijon. Thank you!!

We had a super time the property is quirky with big rooms and very well equipped. It has been restored very sympathetically and is full of original features. The area is beautiful, the countryside is stunning with lots of interesting places to go and explore. We particularly enjoyed visiting Troyes and Beaune, which are just over an hour to get to, there is also plenty to do nearby, lots of walks, the lake which you can walk round and various water sports to try too.

Wonderful home away from home. Spacious property with lots of character and everything we needed to relax and live comfortably in for the duration of our stay. Perfectly located in a very quiet village and close to local supermarket etc with easy access to main roads to many local towns, cities and activities.

We travelled with 5 adults and 2 x under 2 year olds. Travelling with little ones can be tricky, but all our requests were met, high chairs and children friendly cups and plates were provided. And the house has shutters on the windows = instant black out blinds. The farmhouse is impeccably styled, we loved the traditional French feel of the interior and exterior of the property. Do you like to cook? Then this property is for you. A proper 'cooks' kitchen with everything you need to make fantastic meals from your day of market shopping. The house has a BBQ too which is lovely for the warmer months. We did lots of day trips from the property, but we also liked chatting to the cows each morning and taking little walks down to the river - it's a slow pace of life, which made it a very relaxing holiday. One of the most brilliant things about this Farmhouse is that each room has an ensuite! This is very unique for a French property and makes it ideal if travelling with friends. You won't be disappointed if you book this property!

The 18th Century Farmhouse is the perfect property to absolutely slow down and unwind and experience French living at its rural best. Travelling with our family of 5 Adults and 2 children (under 2years), the house was perfectly set up with all our needs catered for. Beautiful walks, relaxing in the sunshine and incredible fresh produce to eat and drink.The bedrooms were quiet, dark and beds so comfortable. Bathrooms clean and fresh. Kitchen and dining (my favourite rooms) as we could feast at night in the warmth with delicious food and great company once the little ones had gone to sleep. The decor in the sitting room is so peaceful and cosy, can sit for hours reading a book. The property is surrounded with so much natural beauty, you don't need to venture off on day excursions, but there is plenty to offer in the nearby towns. I looked forward to coming back to the farm house every night.

We have rented many houses in France and this one is still at the top of the list. In fact we've rented it twice and can't wait to go back. The house is well laid out and each of the bedrooms has an en suite bathroom. Although in a small hamlet, there is a secluded area off to the side for dining outside with views overlooking the neighboring farm (and the occasional cow). If you are looking for an authentic French country experience this is the property for you.

This is a beautiful house, full of character of love, it is obvious Gavin & Shelley put there heart and soul into the place. thank you for that. the kitchen is well equipped and if anyone loves to combine cooking with the overall relaxation it is a perfect combination. Few minor drawbacks to take into consideration. we found the house to be a bit cold at night, only in the bedrooms, downstairs we enjoyed the lovely fireplace. the other drawback is that only the master bedroom has a proper double bed. nonetheless, amazing property, will defiantly consider coming back again.
