Beverley Minster House

The house is finished to a very high standard and decorated beautifully. Plenty of space and facilities. Everything you would think of needing has been supplied including a water filter. The welcome cake and wine was a nice touch. Parking was easy as a residents parking permit was supplied. You couldn't get closer to the Minster. Very easy walking distance to the town center and the railway station is just around the corner. Beverley is a really nice place with plenty of history. Some lovely unique shops and independent butchers/bakers less than 5 minutes walk away)

The Minster bells. We had very little sleep over the week. The locals are proud of them, but the noise is astonishingly loud (we're not talking gentle chimes here!), every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. I am surprised that they are not silenced during the night considering the noise. (I lived next to a church for 18 years in England, and currently next to one here in France for 20 years, the bells are silenced overnight) It was something that I didn't even think of when booking the house. There are videos on-line showcasing the bells and their quarter chimes.

The house is lovely- very well equipped.

I stayed for 4 nights and got no sleep, because of the Minster bells ringing very loudly every 15 minutes throughout the night. I would not have stayed at the house had I known about this. I would have expected some form of glazing (inside), despite this being a period house. The noise cancelling foam ear inserts that were provided did not help at all!
