Santa Luzia Apartment

We spent 12 nights here as a family of three, and it was a very comfortable choice for our holiday. The apartment was a good base for exploring the island—whether heading out for PR hiking trails, sightseeing, or enjoying days at the beach and ocean activities. What we loved: - The city center is about 25-minute walk away. - Clean apartment - The beds were comfortable, ensuring a great night's rest. - The bus stop for line 20 is just 100 meters away. It runs directly between the city center and Monte Palace Madeira - Tropical Garden, making the center, the gardens, and the famous toboggan ride easy to reach. - Our host, José, was welcomed us with local cake and wine. - Hassle-free car rental: José personally arranged our rental car—having it delivered right to the apartment and taking care of the return process at the end of our stay. … and we paid by card for it - dedicated parking spot directly under the apartment

- Street trafic noise: It a fairly noisy from the street if you leave the windows open. - Bathroom storage: There are no shelves in the - bathroom to place toiletries, which would be a useful addition.

Apartment is in a good location. Pretty local park a few minutes away. About 15 minute walk into the old town - bit longer on the way back as uphill. Spacious for 2 or 3 people. Sea view from living and bedroom plus balcony. Comes with parking space which was very useful as we hired a car. José our host was very accommodating.

Nothing negative to say about the apartment

Location was good -a 15 minute walk to the centre of Funchal (but it was an uphill walk on the way back). A lovely park is nearby. Appartment is spacious. Bed is comfy and big. The sofa in the living room is alao comfotable.

A shelf in the bathroom above the sink would have been handy. One or two hooks in the bathroom to hang your clothes. Otherwise it was a v. nice appartment.

Private parking spot was very convenient. The kitchen is well-equipped. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine.

Furniture - a mismatched mix of modern and very outdated pieces. We booked this specifically for three separate beds (as pictured). On arrival, two were pushed together with no extra sheets or duvets. It took two requests and until the next evening to get the extra bedding. The living room door has clear glass panels (annoying at night when someone turns on the light in another room), and the lighting in that room is too dim at night (burned out light bulbs). There is mold in the bathroom. Street noise is loud, especially dogs barking at all hours. The portal states a 12:00 check-out, but we were messaged and told to leave by 11:00.
