Buzzing about Beehive 🐝

We just returned from a super holiday at Beehive Cottage a couple of weeks ago - it was a family holiday with one tween and a teenager. It is a very relaxing spot with a high standard of comfortable accommodation. The cottage is tastefully decorated in a minimalist style and was well equipped for our stay. The surrounding roads are very quiet so it was possible to go out for an evening stroll and take in the picturesque surrounding area. There is also a swing set, a pleasant lawned area and a patio bench just outside the cottage. The cottage is around 20 mins from Aberdeen which was a good option for rainy day activities. We only ended up here once despite a rather dismal weather forecast - as they say in Scotland it was dry between the showers and we were happy to enjoy visits to the local beaches and attractions with jackets at the ready as needed. Balmeadie beach is 15 mins away and is a lovely long white sandy beach and country park - we even saw a pod of dolphins as we walked along it. Also saw seals and seabirds from Newburgh beach which is only a couple of miles from the cottage. Balmoral is a 1.5 hr drive (worth the trip) and we also enjoyed days out at Pitmedden Gardens (stunning) and Haddo House and Gardens (both National Trust properties - the usual tearooms, walks, picnic areas type of day). Also took a trip to Inverurie to climb one of the local mountain peaks. There is a big supermarket about 10 mins drive from the cottage and some good restaurants nearby too. We had a great meal in the Cornkist in Ellon and enjoyed fish and chips by the river nearby on the last night of our holiday. The owners were super helpful, responsive and made our trip very easy to plan. Would definitely recommend Beehive Cottage for anyone needing to get away from it all.

Only (minor) improvement would be a Smart TV so we could use our streaming accounts but very much a first world request!

Great out of city location, very relaxing. clean and tidy and modern up to date facilities. Great hosts, they were there if you needed them (which we didn’t) but if you did just a text away. Very spacious

The owners were very friendly and willing to support our family well, in order to have a restful stay. They communicated really well whenever we needed to contact them, either face to face or via text/email. Highly recommended!

The master bed was smaller than we are used to at home and we would prefer a King size bed, but not sure whether that is possible in the space; it is a very comfortable double bed, though, in spite of this. The property is lovely and set in a very restful location, with everything you need to enjoy your stay at the Beehive Cottage.

Dawn & James sind sehr freundliche Gastgeber und bieten ein tolles Haus in hervorragender Lage an.

Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und haben stets sehr schnell auf Anfragen reagiert. Die Lage war exzellent: Man erreicht die Stadt Aberdeen in etwa 20 Minuten, ist aber gleichzeitig von wunderschöner Küstennatur umgeben und kann von dort aus hervorragend Tagesausflüge unternehmen. Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen.

Tatsächlich gibt es kaum etwas zu bemängeln. Das Einzige, was uns aufgefallen ist, war, dass das Doppelbett für zwei Erwachsene gelegentlich etwas klein wirkte. Das ist jedoch nichts Ungewöhnliches auf Reisen.

Alles unbeschreiblich perfekt! Die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich. Das Haus war sehr schön, hell und sehr sauber. Ich habe mich wie zu Hause gefühlt! Das bedeutet in meinem Fall sehr viel, da ich, sobald es irgendwo schmuddelig ist, mich total unwohl fühle. Die Küche und das komplette Geschirr waren auch sehr sauber, sodass ich es wie daheim benutzen konnte! Mein absoluter Höhepunkt, als Katzenfanatiker :) war Popcorn. Ein sehr süßer und zutraulicher Kater! Die Unterkunft ist also wärmstens zu empfehlen. TOP!!♡TOP!!TOP!!♡
