About this house rental

Casa Ceru has been lovingly restored (by it's current owners) to it's gentrified roots (using antique materials, hand-made cotto floors and beamed ceilings) whilst offering the utmost tranquility for those seeking total relaxation in one of two terraces overwhelmed by the surrounding trees and flowers and spectacular view. The interior of Casa Ceru has been spectacularly refurbished with a mix of eclectic taste, fine antiques, local arts and crafts and a dash of modernity. The overall design combines Old World Tuscany with modern luxuries and sublime comfort, leaving one to experience a special holiday in Tuscany.

Some Highlights:

- House is located on a marked mountain hiking path
- Location--close to Lucca, beaches and important historical cities
- Sleeps 4 very comfortably
- Two terraces
- Private garden
- All modern fixtures and facilities
- High quality linens and towels
- High quality mattresses
- Free WiFi
- Free Satellite TV
- Friendly village
- High quality interior furniture and fittings

The house sits perched on the side of a mountain with the most breathtaking views surrounded by dense forests. We are a three minute walk to the Village Bar, where again the views are breathtaking. Adjacent to the bar is an Alimentari (a small grocers shop) should you need a loaf of bread or milk in a pinch. We are a short drive ( 4/5 km) to some fabulous restaurants, some notably part of the Slow Food Movement. Hiking and country walking routes begin just outside our door. During the autumn harvest, there are plenty of towns that offer food festivals promoting local produce including cheeses, meats (wild boar) and wines. The Garfagnana produces spelt, chestnut and the woods behind Cardoso has some of the best mushroom picking in the region. There are scores of beaches to visit along the Versilian coast (the Riviera) where you pay daily for a chair and umbrella. Should you venture out to Forte dei Marmi --try a Wednesday, the market day. The seafood meals are fresh and delicious. Should you wish to stay within the environs of Lucca, there are villas, gardens, the Puccini Festival, held every July/August as well as Casa di Puccini and let's not forget antiquing. Lucca is well known for their antique shops and quality of goods. Lucca holds an antique fair every third weekend of the month. The walls around the old town remained intact and remain a pedestrian promenade which give way to a nightly 'passeggiata.'

We were a bit unlucky. Due to a thunderstorm about two weeks before the Wi-Fi didn’t work and some rain came through the tiles which had been displaced by the storm. Wilma, the housekeeper tried her best. She is a wonderful helpful person who contributes a lot to the nice and welcome atmosphere at Casa Cerú. The views from the windows are spectacular, and the kitchen is really well equipped.

Cardoso 2016. We (family with two kinds) will remember our stay here for a long time. The house Casa Ceru is a truly beautiful house with a little castle feel! The interiour is beautifully decorated and is very spacious. I really loved the well equiped kitchen to prepare all the delicious Tuscan food. Most of the time we spend on the gardenterrace. The view over the green valley is great, both during the day and late at night under the bright stars. We did some long trekkings, one starts just behind the house. There is a nice little river down the valley, where we had some refreshing moments (ideal for little children to play in the water). We went to Lucca, Florence and Pisa, all within easy reach and we went to the sea and we certainly recommend the mountainroad from Garfagnana, with some breathtaking mountains (also very nice to do some trekking here!). Cardoso is also very close to Barga, a really nice little town with several good restaurants to enjoy a relaxing evening. Angela, thank you very much for the beautiful house and especially for your good care and information beforehand. It made us feel at home even before we arrived! All the best, Marc

Wunderschönes Haus in toller (sehr einsamer) Lage
Wunderschönes Haus in toller (sehr einsamer) Lage

A little piece of heaven

When we first opened our eyes and looked out the window of the bedroom we could not believe . . . the view which was spectacular, and the finishes throughout extremely well chosen. The Villa was clean, and quiet, and so comfortable making it difficult to leave and visit the numerous attractions, go shopping and to restaurants (which were plentiful - great recommendations from the owners of where to eat). Cannot wait to go back and we can honestly say this has been the Best Holiday EVER. Patricia

Casa Ceru - a stunning Italian villa
Casa Ceru - a stunning Italian villa
We had the most wonderful stay in this delightful villa for a week in August. It was perfectly decorated and has the most beautiful soft furnishings. Added to this there were two terraces that looked over the wooded valley beyond, as well as a perfectly designed small garden for sitting out in with a glass of bubbly. A visit to Lucca was one of the highlights of our stay no more than an hour away. We would highly recommend this villa as a place to stay in northern Tuscany.

Whowww...., what a wonderfull house, we all loved it. It is adorable!!!! It was really perfect, everything is geared to aker, lovely! We all came to rest, the house is really zenn.... We loved the beds, they are very comfortable! In the evening we loved to sit outside in de garden wich is lovely too, or at the balcony and we heard the wolves howling! We went down the hill, to the street wich you can see from the bedroom, and we took photo’s over there off Casa Ceru. There is also a small river where we have a swim. It is a natur reserve down there, very lovely... We went to the town Barga and to Luca, they are lovely places to go. We enjoy our staying at Casa Ceru very much! We would really love to go back again some time!

A taste of perfection ...
A taste of perfection ...
Our family (2 adults + 2 children) had an unforgetable time in Casa Ceru this summer. The picturesque village of Cardoso is a like a living medieval outdoor-museum with outstanding views. And Casa Ceru on the top of the village is like a pearl in it. We have traveled quite a lot, but have never seen such a such a villa which is constructed with so great determination, high quality and good taste in every detail. And I could say there is more artistical and architectural details and historical items in the villa itself than in many small museums back home. The location of the villa is perfect for long walks, hiking and jogging and we took the best out of that possibility almost every morning. We felt really privileged to stay our 10-days holiday in Casa Ceru and we recommend these beautiful premises with pleasure!
