Uros Lake Titicaca Lodge

Such an incredible, unique experience. Carlos and his family are excellent hosts, made us feel at home. The community tour was so interesting too! Staying on the lake is absolutely stunning.

Was a bit cold at night but hot water bottles provided were great.

Carlos and his family were wonderful! If you're going to stay at Lake Titicaca you definitely want to stay here for at least 2 nights to really experience the amazing culture, and being on the lake (full moon while there - so bonus!) with complete quiet at night and tons of amazing stars. You can have Carlos arrange for you to do a 1/2 day visit of the other Uros Tribes and go out in a Torta Reed Boat for an extra 20 soles - well worth it! The 2nd day we went to Taquile Island (Carlos arranged and he drops you at the bigger boat which leaves at 10am and picks you up on the return around 4pm). The whole Island is a UNESCO Heritage site and we did the climb (1200 feet) to the plaza and then went back down for lunch (included in the price of the trip). I must say that the "straight up" climb is not for everyone. You are already at 12,500 feet which leaves you tired and winded while at the lake, so you really have to climb slowly to the plaza. Breakfast was included and you pay extra for dinner (both very good). I think dinners came to, maybe, US $7 per person. **You have to bring soles or US dollars with you as there are no ATM machines on the lake and you would have to boat over to Puno and then taxi to a bank or ATM if you needed extra money. Also, it gets very cold here after the sun goes down so you'll want to bring warm socks, a warm hat, gloves, and Heat 32 undergarments (or another brand) to sleep in along with your flannel PJ's!

Nothing! Enjoy the experience and realize that you're not going to have internet service (or spotty at best) while there, but that's the joy of being off your phone and paying attention to life and what's going on around you.

The Lodge needs a lot of care/repair. Garbage laying around the island. Breakfast is very basic. No English speaking guide available for tours when were there
