About this house rental
Seaview is a large holiday house situated in an idyllic situation with the most fabulous views towards the Isle of Skye. It is an ideal base to chill out and enjoy the tranquillity or as a base to tour the west coast of Scotland. With four double bedrooms and sleeping up to 8 guests, 2 families have in the past shared their holiday at Seaview. Glenelg has a population of about 300, and is set in a very tranquil and peaceful part of Scotland with breathtaking scenery. Situated on the mainland coast, opposite the Isle of Skye,. The local ferry over the sea to Skye is 3 miles away, or the bridge (now free of tolls) is 17 miles away at Kyle of Lochalsh. There is an abundance of walks of various levels nearby: from a 5-minute walk to the local shop or inn; along the coast or glen; and hill walking from gentle walks to the Five Sisters of Kintail. There are many other activities in the surrounding area including excellent fishing. Of historic interest are the Pictish Brochs, General Wade's barracks, and Sandaig (where Gavin Maxwell lived with his otters) and from which the film Ring of Bright Water was made. Glenelg is a unique place where people return to year after year, because of the tranquility, friendliness of the locals and the renowned Glenelg Inn. The nearby beaches are stunning and children will enjoy a traditional seaside holiday - and perhaps view Sea Eagles, dolphins or whales from the sandy beaches. This is one of Scotland's special hidden places.

Great location on the edge of the loch and fantastic views across to Skye. The property was very clean, would have given five stars for info but the site pdf said towels not included, only to find towels were provided, so we used the ones we had brought with us. Kitchen well equipped and plenty of crockery and baking equipment. Enclosed garden was good for the dog. Visited local shop a quite a few times and ate twice in the pub, both only a five minute walk away. We had a very relaxing stay, lovely local walks, the historic brochs, and Gavin Maxwells Croft and strolls along the beach. All in all a lovely New Year family stay

MAGICAL HOLIDAY
MAGICAL HOLIDAY
Beautiful house in a quiet friendly village with outstanding views. Large rooms with comfy beds, good bathrooms, a very well equipped kitchen. Terrible sofas in living room or it would have been the best accomodation I have stayed in ever. Fantastic Inn with amazing food just 5 mins walk. The fishing outside the cottage and from the pier was good. Met Willie and his pet deer in Corran, saw otters, seals, pine martins, and there were porpoises in the bay. Had good weather and were spoilt for lovely places to picnic. Special thanks to the lovely cleaner. Amazing all round holiday. Aileen

Seaview provided the ideal home away from home whilst visiting Glenelg . The instructions from the property manager to access Seaview were concise and accurate. Seaview has a well equipped kitchen, spacious, ideal location for sea kayaking, enjoying the beach, cycling and hill-walking. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The living room was spacious and comfortable for relaxing and admiring the views over the Sound of Sleat.

Lovely house to accommodate a large group, set within stunning surroundings. We never want to leave at the end of our holiday. This is our third year here as a big family and it feels like Glenelg just gets better and better. Everything was fantastic the only thing I would say though is the sofas need updating, my elderly father struggled getting on and off them.

This is a great location with dramatic views over The Sound of Sleat - a scenic delight out of the front windows in all weathers and all light conditions. We had lots of room and slept in comfortable beds. The house was warm and cosy with an excellent TV. Catering was well provided for in a large and well-equipped kitchen.
We fished from the front doorstep (almost) and successfully foraged for fungi locally.
When we felt like it, the village pub served great meals and live music. Friendly neighbours and local folk made the whole week a one to remember. Thank you David.

A wonderful week
A wonderful week
Thirty years ago my wife and I honeymooned in the Highlands. This year we decided to take our now adult children and their partners away for a week to celebrate. One had to drop out due to work commitments so we had seven adults staying at Sea View and it was excellent. Well appointed and comfortable, with magnificent views across to Skye. Being the Highlands we were out from dawn to dusk enjoying the magnificent country but in the evenings Sea View was the perfect base. Room to eat together, good cooking facilities, space to read or play card games etc . We thoroughly enjoyed our week and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sea View to anybody considering a break in this beautiful country.

Fantastic views, great place to unwind
Fantastic views, great place to unwind
Thank you we loved our week at seaview. Wildlife was out in force with pine martins, birds, deer and otters all making an appearance. The local mountain rescue were also amazing, thankfully they didn’t need to go further than our cottage as our missing party returned rather cold and wet but safe.
My main concern is that the property is listed as being suitable for children of all ages and that there is a cot and high chair, this is true but to be honest they were not in a very good state. The high chair was dirty and the harness was not the correct one and was not fit for purpose. The cot is a travel cot that was again dirty/stained and had no bottom sheet luckily we took blankets with us for our little one, the stair gate is not much use either we had to adapt it to fit but not ideal. If you are taking children younger than 4yrs be prepared to improvise.
Fantastic place to relax and unwind with family. Highly recommend visit to walled garden in applecross if you like driving in the highlands and loch Caron Spar a must if your upthat way.

The house was nice and clean (apart from the oven) and very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen lovely, fresh and clean. The lounge furniture however wasn't so good with uncomfortable settees. It didn't matter to us as there was only three in our party and the weather was superb so we spent a lot of time outside but for a larger party it could be inadequate. All in all we had a lovely stay at Sea View

Fantastic scenery, a peaceful and tranquil place. Lovely little village, with a cute little cafe and fantastic food at the local pub. Lots of places to walk, ideal for cycling and not too far from Skye bridge. Owner extremely helpful replacing the kettle when it broke down. House has plenty of space for large families or groups, nice big kitchen for cooking together.

We had a lovely time with the whole family. (Three generations). the house is spacious well equipped with everything we needed. It is clean, cozy and warm, when the weather was less friendly. Although quite remote, it is nice that there is a shop to get essential!
The locations is wonderful, so close to the water. Beautiful views and a good place to explore the area from. We enjoyed our crossings on the turn table ferry, and the beautiful drive on the other side on Skye. But also the immediate surroundings of Glenelg, the Brochs and the coast line on the way to Arnisdale and Corran are full of treasures. I would like to come again and for further explorations and more walking!

Wonderful location and large spacious house.
Wonderful location and large spacious house.
Seaview is a comfortable, spacious house with a fully enclosed garden which was great for our dog. The bathrooms have been uogtaded and are clean with good showers. The bedrooms are large as is the living space. The view out the front window is stunning - directly actoss the water is Skye. There is a small shop for essentials which also houses a post office with part time hours. The Im is only a five minute walk away and well worth having a meal at although booking is recommended. There is s good park with swings, etc and a football pitch with goals.
Directly across the water is Skye and taking the 5 minute turntable ferry is a must.
Our whole family and dog had a great holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Seaview as a destination.

The cottage is well situated and views are amazing. Cleanliness of property was not perfect. We only needed to use 2 rooms and to our shock the other 2 bedrooms were not clean with beds that had clearly been slept in and left unmade. That said, we had a fantastic week and really loved the location and were content in the cottage. There are lots of walks for all levels in the area. A trip to the Glenelg Inn is a must, as is a visit to Sheena's Tea Hut in Corran.

We had a really relaxing week in this lovely house. There was more than enough space for our party of six adults and a dog to spread out. It is very well equipped and comfortable. The views over to Skye are fantastic and it was great to sit and watch the sunset. The local pub is cozy and dog friendly. Lots of great walking in the area - another stunning vista around every bend! There is a large freesat television but we only used this for radio stations as we wanted to escape the rat race, which was easy to do here. The only thing missing was a tumble dryer as when out walking every day in Scotland it is inevitable that you will get at least one good soaking! As a party we would highly recommend this property.

We are just back from a great holiday in Glenelg staying at the Seaview. The house had everything we could possibly have needed for our stay. Comfy beds and no problems with the heating or hot water. My only comment would be that it could do with some updating and the windows do need renewed BUT this did not impact on our holiday.

All the other reviews are true! This is a lovely home with a well equipped kitchen overlooking beautiful Kylerhea and the Isle of Skye. It was a joy to look out over the water every day, with even the occasional rain and mist making for some interesting atmospheric effects. On the way to Glenelg we stocked up at the Morrison's in Fort William, made a few purchases at the village shop and then topped up at a supermarket on Skye. There are plenty of places to eat locally, though. The village cafe makes delicious cakes and The Wagon out by the brochs serves excellent coffee plus we came home with a jar each of blackcurrant and plum jam. One day we drove round the coast to Sandaig and Corran on Loch Hourn - quite stunning. The ferry journey to Skye was a highlight in itself, waiting our turn in the queue on a rainy day was all part of relaxing and enjoying the community and amazing scenery. Sometimes we stayed in playing games in the spacious lounge and cooking family meals together. Our big night out was dinner at the wonderful Glenelg Inn just a short walk from the house. Overall, we had a lovely holiday and definitely recommend this house.

This is a lovely house equipped with everything you could need for your stay in Glenelg. The view across to Skye is simply wonderful and we were able to make the most of it from the garden, eating outside quite a lot of the time. We were lucky to have a week with 7 full days of glorious sunshine.
The house is also within a few minutes' walk of the Glenelg Inn, with its friendly atmosphere and delicious food.

The property was perfect for our little group including the dog. Only things missing from an otherwise well equipped house was a hairdryer and some coffee filters. it rained off and on most days But we still had plenty wonderful walks and the house was warm and cosy. We went there by Caledonian sleeper from London to Inverness and then another train to Kyle of lochalsh such a perfect way to travel. The taxi from K of L was about £60 but he did wait while we stocked up with basics in the super market there although the little local shop in Glenelg was perfect for most things. And a lovely short walk each day. I would stay there again without any hesitation. It was just what we all needed. The ever changing view from the kitchen/diner, large but oh so cosy sitting room and bedroom windows is stored in my memory bank forever just wonderful wonderful

A splendid home ,well appointed with classic views to the Isle Of Skye.
Located within 4 mins walking distance of the famous Glenelg Inn and the well stocked local shop selling local produce. So if you want to be pampered the Inn is excellent or if you want to self cater the supplies are local.
A great week and we enjoyed sunshine for seven days
